SSSD SOVEREIGN NEWS, 11-04-01

COM/RA Proton reporting for the SSSD Sovereign, flagship of the Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet.

Wing commanders, pass this along to your squadrons.

STANDING ORDER OF THE WEEK

All pilots: Read the Training Manual, and other fleet manuals. This order is borne of the realization that some pilots are unaware of the procedures for addressing a grievance with their CO. Essentially, an aggrieved pilot must first address the matter privately with the superior involved; if a grievance remains after this discussion, the matter may be addressed with that CO's own CO. Bottom line: I am weary of seeing "my CO is a &%^$#@*" e-mails sent to whole squadrons, flights, or chains of friends in the fleet. Any command mistakes or wrongdoings can and will be dealt with in proper channels -- and so too can rabid insubordination. Use common sense, people. And, relax. This is supposed to be fun.

More on the axial superlaser. The axial superlaser can be fired up to eight times per day at nominal charge and once per day at full charge [A full charge would destroy any planet in the Galactic Empire]. Imperial Gunners are some of the best trained fixed-mount weapon specialists in the Empire. Their advanced tactical combat training and enhanced targeting systems linked to their helmets make them extremely accurate and deadly foes. [It takes one full regiment of Imperial Gunners (approximately 1,000 gunners) working simultaneously to fire the axial superlaser under normal combat conditions.]

SOVEREIGN NEWS AND NOTES

-- LC Jesseb Skyrauch has stepped down as Wing VI WC and has moved to an FM slot in Zeta Squadron. My thanks to Jesseb for all his work and long service, and this round is on me in the cantina in honor of Jesseb. **Takes big gulp of Yukon Jack on the rocks, clinks glasses**

-- I've received numerous applications for Wing VI WC and hope to fill the position within a few days.

-- Mascot Power Battles, eloquently described by one of our WCs as "a product of the diseased mind of COL Ford Prefect." The trivia phase is in progress, and Ford has done a great job of organizing this and getting the word out to Sovereign pilots. Also, the wings have done a fabulous job of fielding amazing mascots.

-- LCM Jack Stone's Ultimate Scramble. A huge FCHG race running on the ship Nov. 1-Dec. 31, is also under way, and all these BSFs will likely deliver the final blow to my fatigued inbox. ;)

-- FA Striker reports that the Tactical Manual has been updated. Updates are about Combined Arms Battles, Medals of Tactics, length of TIE Battles, and the Cheating Policy concerning unlimited weapons in XWA and reflying XvT missions:

-- FA Striker reports the new edition of the FCHG Mission Creation Contest, deadline Dec. 15. Details:

-- LC Kalar is putting together a recruiting rewards program for Wing III, something I encourage all WCs and CMDRs to consider.
