SSSD SOVEREIGN NEWS, 12-23-01

COM/VA Proton reporting for the SSSD Sovereign, flagship of the Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet.

Wing commanders, pass this along to your squadrons.

FROM THE SSSD SOVEREIGN SOURCEBOOK

-- The Sov Web site needs more visual source material, so in January there will be a ship graphics and banner contest. I'll announce details next week.

-- My beautiful and deadly assistant, Ballista, has been busy supervising Team L.S.D. (Leroy the jawa, Snippy the probe droid and Dude the Tusken raider) in the construction of a huge seawater aquarium in the vastness of The Warehouse aboard the Sovereign. In it will live my latest acquisition, a humongous squid, the largest deepsea life form ever discovered. I'll be thinking of a good name for my fifth assistant, so stay tuned. Also, see the attached image of my new pet.

SOVEREIGN NEWS AND NOTES

-- LCM Jack Stone's Ultimate Scramble nears its conclusion. Finals begin in January. I have seen no letup in the flow of BSFs racked up by Sov pilots :)

-- Mascot Power Battles, fiction and TIE mission design currently running.

-- The Rat Pack vs. Wing I's CMDRs Jan. 1-15. COL Reaper will be announcing the flight details around New Year's Eve or so.

-- Monty Python takes over Wing V. I guess, whatever it takes to generate activity ;)

-- From WC/LC Kalar, reporting on his wing's competition-ideas competition: Commander Arcanian Stirner's "Wing III Champion League" has won the competition! He will receive a nice IS:SR for his efforts and his competition will also be the next official Wing III competition. Here's a short explanation of his idea:
The League will be a tournament of sorts between each and every pilot in Wing III. For each round, two pilots will be randomly paired with each other. They will then fly two missions one after the other. The first "round" between each pair of pilots will be a mission chosen by the first pilot, and the second mission will be chosen by the second pilot. If I understand Arc's idea fully (and, Arc, tell me if I misunderstood something), if a pilot won both rounds, he/she would get 3 points. If each pilot won one round, they would both get 1 point. And if a pilot lost both rounds they would get 0 points. This would continue for a while, with each pilot having a different partner each round, and at the end of the time period, the pilot with the most points would the the winner. Sounds like a good idea to me, good job Arc!

-- At least two wings have recruitment competitions running -- good luck with those, we need more pilots!

FLEET NEWS

-- Heh heh heh. In the spirit of Christmas and Star Wars, I happily forward this link that someone posted on the Dark Brotherhood message board:

CANTINA COMMENTS

"MD, what have you been drinking/smoking/shooting/sniffing?" -CM Face Loran

"For one thing, all the characters looked like I imagined them--especially Strider, who (in the new movie) looks like some weedy twerp who should be sitting on the front porch suckin' a beer in a
Harley-Davidson T-shirt with engine grease stains and a couple of holes in it, and have a bicep tattoo with snakes, skulls and nekkid chicks...." -COL Inkwolf

"Party was at its fullest with Gimel's half-naked Twi'Lek Cheerleader running around the room and some pilots singing in the corner." --From the Aleth Squadron run-on

"I wish all of you merry X-Mas and happy new year ... and don't forget to kill some rebel for X-Mas ;-P !" -MAJ Ixion Deathbringer

"I wouldn't want to be near him if he opened up," Peter Arnett, former CNN war correspondent, commenting on reports that FOX News war correspondent Geraldo Rivera is packing heat in Afghanistan.
