SSSD SOVEREIGN NEWS, 9-9-01

Welcome to another installment of the Sovereign Report, RA Proton reporting.

- WCs on the move. Wings I and V have new leadership this week. COL Firebird of Koph/Wing VI has been named WC of Wing I, replacing GN Wolly, who was moved to the Reserves. And COL SickMan, CMDR of Sadhe, has been promoted to WC of Wing V. These two officers are strong, effective commanders who will help take their wings and the Sovereign to the next level. Congratulations to both! (Plus, SickMan has a clever sense of humor and keeps things light for all; Firebird, what's your specialty?). GN Wolly performed admirably for a long time and will be greatly missed. I hope he will be able to return to active duty in some fashion soon. FO/FA Priyum also plans to address GN Wolly's departure at today's TC meeting on IRC.

- Paperwork note to WCs. Maybe you're already doing this, but some reminders:
-- cc: the Flight Office (FA Priyum and AD Havoc) on your wing reports.
-- Paste your wing's squadrons reports together in one string each week and send it to me and the Flight Office. FA Priyum has reiterated that he wants to see all squadron reports, and this is the best way to preserve the sanity of the FO and me in reviewing unit reports.
-- Send your monthly wing evaluations (a compilation of MSEs from the wings plus anything else you add) only to me, not the Flight Office.
-- Send welcome letters to all new pilots. LC Reaper has a great example of a welcome letter; if any of you would like to see it, ask Reaper.

- The Sovereign fared very well in the Training Office's Shameless Promotion Contest. As you can see, we swept first place in all three divisions and picked up a third place as well. Nice job, Sov pilots!

-- Speaking of competitions, I have started a ship home page design competition. See the temporary Sov home page at sov.imperialmight.com for the details. IS-GR, -SR and -BR up for grabs for the top three finishers.

-- Speaking of more comps, I got some great ideas for comps from WCs and other officers in the past week. Over the next couple of weeks there will be some planning and the launch of one or more shipwide comps. Keep your cockpits warm!

-- Commodore's quarters. My assistants, Leroy the jawa, Snippy the probe droid and Dude the Tusken raider, are busily arranging my quarters. And, aah, what a spectacular view from the bridge! ... Anyway, my LSD Team will perform in the same vein as FA Kramer's various loyalty troops did before he left and I had Team LSD hose out The Pit. Underestimate Team LSD at your peril, any of you mischief-makers or malcontents out there. Also, this week my secret double life was revealed!! Because of my arrival in the commodore's office, it seems that the Flight Office felt it necessary to force my legal clone into retirement. So, COL Gallows of Omega Squadron, a former Koph CMDR and Wing II WC, boarded a one-way shuttle to the reserve frigate. However, some Sov veterans may be interested to know that COL Gallows has ordered his longtime personal assistant, the beautiful and terrible Ballista, to join my staff of aides. If you think Team LSD is bad, you've not seen Ballista in action.

- Medal of Honor for Kramer? I just sent off this recommendation, signed by numerous flag officers and other veterans.
