SSSD SOVEREIGN NEWS 10-14-01

COM/RA Proton reporting with another news report from the Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet flagship, the SSSD Sovereign.

SHIP NEWS AND NOTES

-- The recent readiness exercise was a success in a few ways: Nine well-deserved individual medals were won and awarded; some squadrons and wings put forth excellent efforts; and I got a good idea of who's ready for combat, and who's not. So, get ready for bigger competitions -- including further surprise readiness exercises when you least expect it!

-- Mascot Power Battles, still to come: COL Prefect of Wing II apparently is waiting for TO approval (?) and then we can get started. Judges have been assigned to various categories, and ideas for a better name for the comp have been received. Expect more solid info on this comp in coming days. Also, have all wings (and Omega) picked you mascots? WCs, send me and COL Prefect your mascot's name, with a brief description.

-- Ship Web page design contest. A couple of weeks left, so all you designers, don't forget to submit your entries. I have received one excellent entry already, and I have heard of several others apparently in the works.

-- Force strength.

We dipped a few spots earlier this week but picked up some SLs later as well. We are seeing signs of good recruiting but we need to do more as a ship to attract more pilots. After the recent spate of CMDR turnover, WCs have been working hard to fill those slots, with some excellent promotions for well-deserving officers.

-- New TC uniforms issued by Operations Office, check them out here:

-- Wing and squadron reports. WCs, I hope you saw the mail from FA Priyum and AD Havoc that all reports must reach both the FO and the CA:FO. The hammer for compliance is that promotions will be withheld in units whose WCs are not complying with this procedural directive.

-- Transfer protocol reminder. When a pilot wishes to transfer out of a squadron, wing or ship, he must cc his chain of command (CMDR, WC and COM), not just the CMDR and flags in his desired unit of destination. A case in point: A pilot recently had his transfer delayed for at least a week because he did not inform his CO and flags. There are good reasons for following this procedure, not the least of which is common courtesy.

-- Interesting comp. The Koph Kooking contest. This involves the writing of ewok recipes !!

CANTINA COMMENTs

"Personally, I'd say "Ihren sind alt".
Hopefully that's how you say "Y'all are old"... This is sad, I'm in my
third of German, and I'm talking like I'm still a first year German..." -CM Jason Hunter/Sadhe

"I just mailed Howie on this. Pointed out that for guys like me, having the rank bars below the ribbons would turn it into a codpiece." -GN Compton, Omega, referring to the new uniform design

"POST, EMAIL, FLY, DO IWATS, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!" -CM Face Loran/Sadhe
