SSSD SOVEREIGN NEWS, 9-16-02

COM/VA Proton reporting for the SSSD Sovereign, flagship of the Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet.

SOVEREIGN AND FLEET NEWS AND NOTES

-- The Sovereign Bombing Run Blowout enters the final phase. See details on the War Room page at http://sov.minos.net. The deadlines are Sept. 30 for the TIE mission 4 segment. The art and fiction categories also are open through Sept. 30. Good luck to all pilots.

-- Deathmask Units: This is a ship competition coming in October, and the winners will have lots of medals, cool special titles and lots of bragging rights.

-- Still awaiting word back from the BGs BGCOM on my proposal for a flight contest, Sov vs BGs on all platforms.

-- GN Es'mith reports on a new Wing I contest, Exercise "Whimpering Winds":
This is a comprehensive competition involving all SIX Wing I squadrons; flying and writing against each other from 15 September until approximately 15 February.
The events center around the squadrons pairing off to fly a TIE battle as well as a XvT and XWA free mission or battle (squadron CMDRs choice). Pilots are encouraged to fly in ALL platforms with surprise awards for 100% participation at the end of the exercise.
For those NOT able to fly (as well as those who don't think flying three battles is enough), there is a small "idea" competition. This comp is geared towards a think tank for creating Wing I themed battles or perhaps even a CAB. Requirements are to give a small fiction detailing what the squadron should be doing in this particular mission, ships involved, enemies involved etc.

-- LC Halcyon reports on Teth Squadron's tremendous victory in the Colossus Squadron League:
TETH HAS WON!! TETH HAS WON!! *cough* Unless you've been living under a rock in these here parts, you will know that Teth was in the finals of the Colossus Squadron League 2. They were faced off against Inferno Squadron of Wing X. After much trash-talking, Teth has once again proven that they cannot be beaten...and it's official this time! :P Final scores are below:
COL Mini Minkus - 31 817 Rian - 31,643
CPT Badger - 31 804 Narcissus - 31,723
LCM Hawky - 31 804 Dark Eagle - 31,695
LCM Maximillian - 31 762 Raxell - 31,651
Also, MAJ Philo finished second in overall scoring so congratulations go out to him! Once again, great job by Teth squadron for backing up all of their talk and proving themselves once again to be the best!

-- COL Stele Pellaeon reports that the vaunted Sigma Squadron, which terrorized the rest of the fleet until shutting down quite a few months ago, is planning a return to glory. Sigma is going to reopen!

-- Zayin vs. Nun, one of the squadron comps coming soon.

-- I gladly quote LC Halcyon, whose sage advice applies perfectly after another bout of Sov bashing on the TC MBs:
"Also this week saw some very interesting posts on the Tie Corps messageboards, primarily on the main TC board and the SOV MB. In cases where officers from other ships and wings become disrespectful towards us and our ship, I ask that you stay out of the arguments. CMDR's, I ask that you use your judgment before entering the fray as well. We will not sink down to such levels, so I want no ship/wing/squad bashing on our parts. We argue with facts and facts alone. If you do see a group act in such disrespectful manners, please feel free to come to me and I will see that it is handled in a proper fashion. And so that anyone who reads this knows, the Sovereign and Wing IV WILL NEVER BACK DOWN FROM A FIGHT! :P "

-- SA Astatine reports the TO site has moved back to imperialcademy.org.

-- SA Astatine reports a new competitions system:
All members from FM up should have access to the system now. Just login at the access page
(http://www.emperorshammer.net/rosters/admin.asp) and there should be a
link titled "Competition Approval Form" just about the link to the TC
Survey Centre. Also, you can track the progress of competitions you've
submitted as they will appear at the top of the admin page, informing
you of the number of competitions pending, denied, etc. The reviewing
script automatically emails your superiors rather like other
confirmation emails on the database. There is also the Competitions
Center (http://www.emperorshammer.net/competitions/) which lists the
last competition, as well as the breakdown of the current entries. The
system is in an evolving stage and will be updated.
As a result of this and the deletion of the old database, if you had any
competitions awaiting approval or any which you hadn't awarded medals
for, please resubmit them to this new system. The TO will now be
handling approval of comeptitions.

-- FA Priyum Patel issues a refresher on transfer rules:
A REMINDER: Too many people are forgetting the rules on Transfers. These rules are in place to ensure that I don't have to trawl through the rosters for email addresses, and more importantly, that all people involved are accordingly informed. It's one thing when the latest n00b forgets these rules, but another when Wing Commanders start ignoring them. For everyone's benefits, the transfer procedure:
1. A pilot wishing to transfer should request the transfer first from their own Commander. This allows the Commander time to find out the reasons why the transfer is being requested. If there is a problem in the Squadron, now is the time to correct the problem.
2. The pilot should then find out the email addresses of the Commander and Wing Commander of the Wing to which he or she wishes to transfer. If you can't be bothered to do this much, you're obviously not ready for the level of commitment that a transfer to a new Squadron involves and your transfer request will be denied immediately.
3. The pilot should now send a transfer request to their Commander, cc'ing their own Wing Commander and the Wing Commander and Commander of the Squadron they wish to join.
4. The Commander of the Squadron to which you are transferring should reply to all addressees on the transfer request, remembering to cc the Flight Officer.
5. The Flight Officer will then approve the transfer.

CANTINA COMMENTS

" *Jumps up and down on Proton* You forgot to mention the newest addition to
Wing IV, LC Triji Boliv...from the Challenge of all places. You could've
really rubbed that part in you know >:) " -LC Halcyon

"Apologies from Sicky, Kyra will be on guard duty while i sit in my office and do all the paperwork again." -GN SickMan

" (*in a halting Shatner accent*)
Scotty... He... NEEDS more power! Can you... Give it to.... HIM??
Translation: Get 'em in now, Wing I pilots! Hurry " -LC Freelancer

"Hey, im just glad im in a military organization here where a single person
in an almost indestructible solar powered craft can fly at insanly high
speeds an blow ships containing hundreds of enemy officers in one high
powered, rocket powered shot... what?" -LT Pheonixus

"Hey I'll Cook...hmmm *puts on a chefs hat and bolts his new pants* how does roasted Space Rats marinated in water and Rum to follow it down with sound? oh and for desert Free's Socks ala mode." -LT Lucius Starblade

"Or perhaps we could try locking him in a room and giving him only beans to eat. They'll keep him alive until he suffocates on his own methane ;P " -CPT Argon Viper, one of the meanest Wing DOCs ever to stalk Wing VI ;)

"Mhh..ok
Now, would you prefer the disintegration chamber or the good old "faulty air-lock" incident? :P " -MAJ Gidda

"Congrats Grue! Now if you had to choose between the two, would you keep the medal or the dead rebs? ;-) " -COL Sasquatch

"You will never stop Sov bashing. You will never stop Omega bashing. As
long as there is a flagship or an elite squadron, there will be people who
will put them down simply because they can. I learned to live with it long
ago, but it still irritates the hell out of me whenever some pipsqueak
Lieutenant Commander who won't even be here in 4 months decides to run his
mouth." -COL Sasquatch

"::buys a round for everyone::
(noticed i said a round, there's no s on the end of it this time ;) ) " -RA Joe

COMMAND RANT OF THE WEEK

"Please, for the love of Wing I, FLY DAMN YOU FLY!!!!" -MAJ Talons Pryde

COMBAT DEBRIEFING OF THE WEEK

I hit the warhead launchers on the FAC and the STRKC with a rocket each (I
wans't sure if they'd fire missiles at me, the Y-W's were annoying
enough)... disabled all the cargo craft and their escorts, tangled with
fighters. In the meantime the T/A's wiped out the mines. Somewhere along
the lines, two fighters escaped. Argh.

While I was trading ions with lasers with the PLT's (took about 20-30
minutes each), my wingmen all slammed into the FAC. I was quite annoyed.
Brought the FAC and both PLT's down to 1% shields, then noticed a Y-W was
disabled. Killed him, traded ions and lasers (and missiles) with the second
wave of Y-W's... then a Y-W attacked the FAC, causing the E/S's to launch.
Disabled them, no big deal, kept trading fire with the Y-W's. Disabled the
PLT's, killed the cargo carrying craft...

And it took almost an hour and forty-five minutes.

Sheesh, it's so late now, even the cantina is closed...

*yawns* Bedtime...

-COL Brian/Omega
