ISDII Relentless Report # 7 (2002-08-30)

This report was submitted by RA Theodore

Greetings all.

Well it has been a slow week, but I expect you all are letting me settle in before you take off with reckless abandon of activity. Everything is still where I left it when last on the Rel and the Cantina even had a good stock of my Maker's Mark, so I am pleased with my first week as COM.

To those of you who responded to my question, and those who didn't, Heraclitus of Ephesus is/was a Greek philosopher most likely a contemporary of Pythagoras, a predecessor to Plato and Socrates. There remain only a limited number of his writings, but he believed in a universal unity, a balance of forces. Constant change or evolution anchored his writings as symbolized by a flickering fire while the flame is a constant unit, the fire is in continual change). While Lucas has never really talked about the genesis of his ideas, many people look to ancient Greece to see similarities with the Star Wars themes. Heraclitus was an influential, yet mostly unstudied by a mass modern populace, Greek philosopher who believe in the interrelated unity of the universe. Interpretations of his writings could easily allow one to follow his belief that it is possible to become enlightened to the "word" (understanding that all things are one) to become the 'fiction' of Force enlightened individuals who can feel this unity and garner greater understanding of the universe from it.

...you follow all that? Good...

On a lighter side, I will be flying more next week and challenge each of you to complete more missions that I. Also, I would like to see more e-mail discussion...I have told you how to reach me and you should know how to reach your squad mates...drop someone a short note and let's get this ship hopping.

till later...behave as an officer and have fun !!!!
