VANGUARD AND FLEET NEWS


A week has passed, my side-drunk Drax steps down as Wing Commander of this beloved Wing XV due to RL (shakes fist at RL) we all thankyou Drax for the grand job you did, but thankfully you've stayed with us in Scorpion Squadron! I declare the next week DRAX WEEK, in honour of Drax's service to the VAN, and yes i've ordered more beer too:)

A new WC will be announced next week, it will be a heck of a hard decision with the amount of and quality applicants

Now onto COMP results:

Sicky turned to Draxy and nodded with a grin and Draxy nodded back and said "lock and load."

Sickman made the faintest of nods to Kyra. Suddenly, all was in slow-motion... Sicky and Drax dove off to opposite sides behind some crates while Kyra front-flipped toward the bewildered Rebel troops. She produced a pair of vibroshivs and within about 34.5 seconds, the twenty enemies had become forty-three pieces-of-enemies, with three of the pieces still alive and sentient. She then shut down so that human error could drive the rest of the fiction.

Sickman arose from behind his crate and strode victoriously toward the three prisoners, each missing a limb or two. He addressed the commander, who was operating without any hands, first.
"I'm afraid the dog ate my explanation."
The Rebel, terrified already, twitched a bit at the mysterious statement.
"Wha-," he stammered. "Wha-... who are you?"
"We're STAR FOX!!!" yelled Sickman, prancing about the room. Drax rushed up to calm him, but Sicky continued to spew random babble and flail about. Sighing, Drax switched his blaster to "stun" and shot Sicky in the legs. The Commodore continued to make some noise, but he was no longer ambulatory.
"Never mind him," said Drax. "Tell me; what is this?"
"This... this what?" asked the Rebel, still mortally frightened.
"DAMMIT!" yelled Drax, tapping into an as-yet unseen reservoir of rage. "DON'T PLAY DUMB WITH ME, YOU PUPPY-DOG SCUM!!!!! I'LL REDECORATE YOUR GONADS AND FEED THEM TO YOUR CHILDREN, I WILL!!! WHAT HAVE YOU PUT IN THIS BE-*whump*"
Drax slumped to the floor. Prisoner #3, played by Fred Savage, had whacked him upside the head from behind... somehow.... with a 2x4 or something. Prisoner #3, missing his left leg, returned the 2x4 to its crutch-like state and grimly smiled.
"It seems Operation Put Addictive Stuff In The Beer is a Pyrrhic victory," he muttered. "The hallucinogens seem to have unforseen side effects. Even if consumers wanted more beer, no bartender would serve them any more... I guess we'll have to go for the spice. Or perhaps the *oof!*"
Sicky, still unable to walk, grabbed the crutch-board and beat Fred Savage to death with it. Over and over again.
"I like my spice raw," he spoke through his teeth. He then rolled over and whacked the other two prisoners to death cause he didn't want to have to deal with any more plot twists, especially not any that would cause him more bodily harm.
"Lucky for me," he mused, "that all the beer i've taken in renders me mostly immune to any bad side effects of any drugs.... but i could feel the drug attempting to work so i could pretend! yay!"
Just then, as if on cue and the story couldn't finish without them, an entire Nebulon-B Frigate landed outside and people came in and got Sicky and Drax out of there and also got Kyra, who had to be turned back on and told what happened cause if she knew when she was turned off she would have turned back on and killed the prisoner guy anyway and then the story woulda sucked more than it does. Anyway, they all went back into the Frigate and flew away and Sicky and Drax went back to the Vanguard and lived happily ever after until they died.

COL Drax Remlinger has decided to step down after a successful tour as Wing Commander on the Vanguard. Applications are now being accepted for a new WC.

Taken from the Training Manual

Oversee the operations of the Wing
Keep in contact with Squadron Commanders
Appoint Squadron Commanders
Review medal recommendations from Squadron Commanders
Review comments, questions, etc from wing members
Report to the Commodore with recommendations
Forward emails, where appropriate, from superior officers to the Wing
Inform the Wing of important events, competitions, etc
Completes BSFs for all Squadron Commanders under his/her command
Be familar with primary reference materials (Training Manual, etc)
Be familar with primary TIE Corps and Emperor's Hammer webpages (Emperor's Hammer domain, TIE Corps domain, TIE Corps roster, message board, etc)
Submissions for the Emperor's Hammer Newsletter (sent to the Executive Officer)
Post/read the Emperor's Hammer message boards (where possible)
Participate in competitions (where possible)
Attend on-line meetings (where possible)
Online Requirements: Moderate. Most of a Wing Commander's work will be off-line in the form of reviewing various Medal requests, verification of mission completions, etc. However, a Wing Commander must be present occasionally on-line to post messages on message boards. The Wing Commander must keep in contact with the six Squadron Commanders in his wing and make sure the Squadrons are active. In addition, the email load of a Wing Commander is rather heavy, with response times expected to be 24-48 hours. (average 7-12 hours/week)

Applications for the position go to Admiral Darksaber and Vice Admiral SickMan before the end of next week.

Apostasy Reminder

A reminder to all that the Training Office competition 'Apostasy' will end this Friday (12th September). Details at http://www.emperorshammer.ca/comps_apostasy.html.

I can tell you all now, however, that there are is at least one event in each category with no submissions - this would mean that if anyone was indeed to submit something, they may win themselves a prolific award by default. Now isn't that both a frightening and strangely comforting idea. Submit some more entries, Ladies and Gents!
