Intrepid Info and News

Ø Last Sunday I reinstalled my Windows to repair a minor problem my wife was experiencing with one of her programs. Since it was directly related to Windows this was the only way to possibly fix it, but after the reinstallation of Windows everything basically went to hell, and as a result I have been fighting with the computer for most of the week. Finally on Friday night I was able to beat Windows and am now fully back online once again. Unfortunately I lost over 200 emails this week during periods when I thought everything was working fine, and then of course found out differently. So if anyone sent me something important for my review please be sure to resend it ASAP so that I can read it. ;)

Ø The database is now operational! With the exception of the BSF system not sending out confirmation emails the entire database is now accessible! Now the WC and CMDR’s have a lot to do this weekend, and I expect BSF’s to be the top priority so that our pilots get credit and rewarded for their activity over these past weeks! Lets get busy!! ;)

Ø A new Commodore for the ISD Vanguard was appointed this week! Congratulations to RA Sickman, formerly WC/GN Sickman of Wing V, who has been appointed by the BGCOM to lead the Vanguard into the future. I am very excited and pleased by this because RA Sickman (Sicky) was my first CMDR when I joined the EH, and for nearly a year now VA Brakka and I have tried to persuade Sicky to join the ASF. Clearly our persistence paid off, and my thanks to the BGCOM for giving RA Sickman the opportunity to prove himself as a COM! Welcome to the ASF Sicky!! J

Ø I have decided that starting this month and going forward I will award a well deserving Squadron the honor of “COM Escort Squadron”! RA Sarin has also begun a similar award on the Mutt, so this should help stir up some competition within the ASF. The rules are simple CMDR’s, the Squadron that earns the most CR, FCHG, Battle Cits and shows great activity in other areas as well will be selected each month. Along with the honor of winning WC’s Own you could also have the double honor of being the COM’s Official Escort Squadron for an entire month as well! I will also be keeping the “COM Protector” Award as well for one lucky pilot each month, so for you individual pilots there are now a number of chances to help win these honors and have bragging rights each month! J

Ø I’d like to see if anyone is interested in creating a COM Office page for me. I have a few specific things I’d like included like a page listing the COM Escort Squadron and COM Protector awardees, the upcoming IntSOP, and so forth. I plan on having this added to the existing Intrepid/Wing XIV website to help further enhance the features already existing. If you’re interested notify me soon. J

Ø CMDR’s, since there has been a change in the command of most Squadrons recently, I wanted to remind each of you that you are allowed access to add News to the Int/Wing XIV Website. If you need the password notify me and I’ll be happy to give it to you. Access to the Admin features however is limited only to CPT Drako, COL Duncan Idaho and myself for obvious reasons. :P

Ø I’m still awaiting the MP lists from Copperhead, Cobra and Diamondback Squadrons. If these were sent earlier this week, they need to be resent ASAP so that I can compile my list of entries and begin pairing pilots together. I do expect to see every CMDR participating, if you’re unable to then I need a reason why. Remember, this is a MP Ship, and I expect all of my CMDR’s to be involved. CM Tissaya Argat is the only exception to this because I am fully aware of her present situation and she is still trying to rectify her firewall problem. I’m planning on starting the competition no later than 11/23/02, so lets get those lists in!

Ø You may have noticed that my report looks a bit different this week. I had a few people inform me that the black background of the previous reports was not coming through correctly with some Yahoo users, so I have removed the color background entirely. It took some doing because the header graphic had a black background; it is very hard to change a graphic background once a graphic is set. But as you can see I did manage it. LOL If anyone has any further problems reading these reports I hope they’ll report it to their CMDR and/or to me immediately. :P

Ø Speaking of my reports. I’d like anyone who has the ability to create custom report templates to contact me. I need something new that also includes links to a variety of pages and information. If you are up to the challenge of creating a kick ass report template for the COM then notify me soon. ;)

Ø This week I also made a decision about my involvement in the EH. As a result I have resigned my position as Proconsul of Clan Alvaak in the Dark Brotherhood. It was a pleasure serving as a leader in the First Clan of the Dark Brotherhood, but I realized this week that my time was being stretched between being a PCON and a COM, and a decision had to be made on which should be my priority. Clearly the Intrepid and her gallant crew won out, and from now on you all will have my undivided attention in the EH. Aren’t you all excited now? ;)

Ø The word through the grapevine today is that MAJ Frodo has been appointed as the new WC of Wing V to replace RA Sickman. This came as a shock to us since Frodo didn’t even bother to notify the WC or I that he was interested in the position. In the future I want to ask that all pilots on the ISD-II Intrepid have the courtesy of notifying the Flag Officers of any applications. Now we have to find a new CMDR for Krayt, and since Frodo didn’t bother to give us some advance warning of his application for the WC position we are now left hunting for a new replacement CMDR. I’ll leave it up to the WC to decide if he plans on taking applications or not. In the meantime I believe LCM Phantom is the ranking FL, so she will be A-CMDR until a new CMDR is appointed. Phantom, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact the WC and I for some answers. ;)

Ø I’m going to be working on a new set of Standard Operating Procedures for the Intrepid to augment the ASFSOP recently updated and released by the BGCOM. In the IntSOP you’ll find answers to most of the common questions regarding procedures and other items. Once it is complete and approved by the BGCOM I will then release it to the entire Ship.

COM’s Comments

Apparently there is still some confusion about who the WC is on the Intrepid. I’d like to remind everyone that VA Brakka retired as the IntCOM at the end of October and in his place I, RA Wil Striker, was appointed as the new COM. In my place LC Duncan Idaho was promoted to the rank of COL and was appointed as Wing Commander. I’m still getting emails from people on the Intrepid asking me questions that should be referred directly to the WC. If COL Idaho is unsure of what should be done then he will either contact me for further info, or he may instruct you to contact me directly. Remember, I’m the tall Corellian sitting in the Command Chair on the bridge of this Ship, the WC is often found in the Wing XIV Briefing Room, his office, or on the Int’s hangar deck. :P

Recruitment apparently has slacked a bit with all the chaos lately regarding the database and so forth. I would like to see the Int reach 60 by the end of the year and establish that as a minimum level of strength thereafter. Remember, tell people about how much fun you’re having on the Intrepid and you’ll be likely to encourage others to join us! J

Today I am establishing a strict list of personnel that may be allowed OPS in the #WingXIV channel. Starting now only the FO/BGCOM/ASF Flags/Int CMDR’s are to have OPS in our channel. I’m also extending the courtesy of OPS to VA Brakka, AD Cyric, VA Khadgar, and VA Kyle Katarn. No other personnel are to have OPS in our channel. If you find someone that is not on this list with OPS and you have authorized OPS you are to deop them immediately. If they have a problem with that they can contact the BGCOM and myself. The only personnel that should be set with Voice (+V) will be the COM Protector and any other officer that the WC and/or COM decide to recognize with such a setting.

I’d like to see every CMDR or SqXO start a new Run-On on your respective Message Boards. I’d also like to encourage every Squadron to create a new XvT Battle based on that Run-On once it is completed. This should help add new Battles to the EH Battle Center and at the same time provide some advertising for your respective Squadrons. ;)

ISD-II Intrepid XvT MP Double Elimination Competition! – The rules are simple. The competition starts at the Squadron level where all registered pilots will compete against their fellow pilots in a series of double elimination rounds until only one remains standing as the Top Gun Squadron Pilot! Then the Top Squadron Pilots, one from each Squadron, will then face off in a series of double elimination rounds until only one remains standing, the ISD Intrepid Top Gun Pilot! Awards for the competition are listed below:
