Wing IX Report #8
From the desk of Major Rejili Holthaus...

FLEET NEWS
------------------

1. COMMAND PROMO's
More Promo's since last week. Frodo *shudder* is the new TAC after Mike's suprise resignation. The TO has also resigned, though he hasn't yet been replaced.

2. DRACHEN FOR TO: 2005. A MAN WITH A VISION.
If you are a TCBGer of any significant influence (i.e. high ranking cmdr or better) help support Drachen's campaign for TO by sending a good recomendation to the FC!

2. WEEKLY NEWS ITEM OF THE WEEK THAT'S COMPLETELY INCONSEQUENTIAL AND UNIMPORTANT BUT IT HELPS FILL UP A REPORT
Astatine is planning to AUDIT the tc website. YES! What fun! :P According to COMM/RA Joey, suicide rates have tripled as a result.

3. TOKEN TACTICAL OFFICE NEWS ITEM OF THE WEEK TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE WE ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THEM
Mike is dead. /Me mourns

4. FW NEWS WHICH IS PROBABLY INNAPROPRIATE FOR THIS TYPE OF REPORT BUT IS INCLUDED ANYWAY
Two new freeworlds cadets in the past 2 days... no new cadets on other platforms :-/

WING NEWS
--------------------

1. ECR STANDINGS
No one knows, no one cares anymore. Looks like we didn't win, but we didn't lose either. Next week I think I'm cutting this section if we don't get some news.

2. WC's OWN COMP
No WC's own this week, one because there was no comp, and two because it was a slow week, and I was mostly focused on bigger/better things.

3. MSE TIME!
So far I have 2/3 MSE's in, but I'm still holding out on the MWE until I get the last one. Once I get that, the medal bum rush will begin.

4. **RECRUITMENT DRIVE** - #1 PRIORITY
Our numbers are lower than they have ben since our last recruitment drive, so it's about time for another. We realy need to get some new blood in here, go for rl and reservists, stay away from cadets. I will be VERY generously awarding everyone who brings in recruits.

5. WEEKLY ACTIVITY
I want to see stuff I can submit to the EH newsletter to promote Wing IX. Each submission get's you a medal in and of itself, plus I'll offer ISM/PC if you send me enough stuff to merit it. This is something easy to do, the newsletter will publish just about anything, so let's get out there and make ourselves known.

6. ELITE MP COMP
The elite MP comp IS on. So far, we are down 1 - 0 in a very close match between MAJ Drachen and COL Nightmare. All you people who signed up, I'm waiting to get some winning results back :) Remember to email me and COL Nightmare the match results as well as submit them for LoC's.

7. DAGGER SQUADRON REOPENING
After extensive negotiations with the FO and BGCOM, Dagger Squadron will be reopening as soon as our new CMDR's transfer request is approved by his superiors. The roster at this point is:

1-1: CM Shinobi
1-2: LCM Splot
2-1: CPT Zept Leeartic
3-1: LT Bjorn Wolfblade

If your name is on this list and you don't want it to be, let me know. Also, if you want to transfer to Dagger and help get it going, also let me know.

Remember, we need some recruitment to get numbers up before we can open the next squadron, so everyone help out.

8. I NEED SQUADRON COLORS
The FO wants each squadron to pick an official color. CMDR's go ahead and send me your choices by the end of the week. Try not to get too wierd though.

9. DRINK OF THE WEEK
Straight from the bar of the Stardrifter Lounge, and personally tested and approved by Major Rejili Holthaus, this week's serving suggestion ...

SERBIAN ICE TEA
1 glass Vodka
Serve in a tall glass, sans ice.

THE WING IX MORALE OFFICE
-----------------------------------------------
A Rant from the Desk of Colonel Steve the Cricket Bat ...

Dear Half-Mast,

I am currently deployed on the ISD Relentless and drive a TIE Defender
on a daily basis.

When we come under attack, the engine governor in my ship will only
allow me to throttle up to 80%. Trust me, that doesn't seem very fast
in the middle of an ambush.

Can you provide me instructions and a list of special tools needed to
remove the governor? A little extra speed would be very appreciated.

FM Need some Speed

Removing the engine governor on your TIE Defender is not a good idea.

The engine governor is designed to help control engine speed and
prevent engine runaway. Not only will removing the governor not result
in higher speeds, but it will also damage the engine's bearings, flux
capacitor, and ion engine housing.

It can also have a bad effect on belt-driven accessories such as the
alternator, power steering pump, and air conditioner.

A speed of 80% may seem slow when the lasers are flying, but it's a
whole lot faster than a TIE that won't move at all.

ACTIVITY
--------------
44 mission(s) flown
3 IWAT(S) passed
3 WSR's issued

I didn' expect a lot this week, since my last report actually came out in the middle of last week. Our numbers aren't that bad, the real problem is LT Fahrer is the only one contributing! The rest of you could at least do GFX or newsletter submissions or something.

STANDING ORDERS
-------------------------------

-ALL MEMBERS-

Weekly Contact
At the very minimum, all members of the Wing will make contact with thier direct superior at least one time per week, VIA EMAIL. This is the very minimum to be considered active in Wing IX. If you intend to be off of the internet for more then (5) days, email your Commander and let him or her know as a common courtesy. If you are taking a Leave of Abscense more then ten (10) days, notify your Commander -AND- the Wing Commander via email.

-SQUADRON COMMANDERS-

Weekly Squadron Reports (WSRs)
WSEs will be submitted NLT 12.00PM each Thursday by email to the Wing Commander, Your Squadron, and the Wing IX Email List. Also, each report must contain statistics for Total missions flown, and IWATS passed.

Monthly Squadron Evaluations (MSEs)
MSEs will be submitted to the Wing Commander NLT the last day of the month. It should cover activity throughout the whole month.

AWOLs / MIAs / Reserve Requests
If you have found a pilot to be AWOL (no contact in 30 days), or MIA (bad email address), or a pilot has requested to go the reserves, you WILL NOT make the database request yourself. Forward the relevant information to the Wing Commander, who will verify the information, and make one last effort to 'save' the pilot before he or she is removed from the wing. This is NOT to take authority away from the CMDRs, but to allow the flags to ensure that a pilot really wants to leave. A good example is a pilot whos pissed off at his CMDR and has requested the reserves, when it's entirely possible the pilot would be happy in another squadron.

Flight Leaders
EVERY Flight Leader position in the Wing will ALWAYS be filled. If your Flight Leader leaves the squadron for whatever reason, you will appoint a new Flight Leader immediately. The Flight Office requires that all three flights have a leader in order for new pilots to be placed in that Squadron. We will not miss any opportunity for new pilots!

Designated XO
Every Squadron will have a designated XO. This person will know what he or she needs to do in the event that you are unable to come online, specifically in the area of filing a report for you.
