Wing IX Report #7
From the desk of Major Rejili Holthaus...

FLEET NEWS
------------------

1. COMMAND PROMO's
A lot of people have been shifted around this week. Pri is the new WO, the GW has a new COMM, etc. If you care about this kind of stuff, or fleet news in general, check out http://www.ehtiecorps.org/news.asp

2. WEEKLY NEWS ITEM OF THE WEEK THAT'S COMPLETELY INCONSEQUENTIAL AND UNIMPORTANT BUT IT HELPS FILL UP A REPORT
I saw the first OPS report since, oh, forever this week. No one yet knows what this means.

3. TOKEN TACTICAL OFFICE NEWS ITEM OF THE WEEK TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE WE ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THEM
Online battle submission form is available! If you've made a battle but haven't submitted it yet because you didn't know where to send it, then you are in luck! Check out the TC news page for details.

4. FW NEWS WHICH IS PROBABLY INNAPROPRIATE FOR THIS TYPE OF REPORT BUT IS INCLUDED ANYWAY
None. Freeworlds sucked this week.

WING NEWS
--------------------

1. ECR STANDINGS
We are now second place and tailing the challenge closely. MELL STILL hasn't finished the scores, so we're waiting patiently to be renamed the BG Flagship :P I hope you're reading this Mell.

2. WC's OWN COMP
This week's WC's own is, oddly enough, CROSSBOW!! For the first time during my tenure as WC. Drachen was the only one who submitted to my WC's own comp, so his squad wins, plus he gets an IS-SR. Don't you all feel dumb now >:P

3. MSE TIME!
That's right. It's Christmas time, so I need commanders to send me their MSE's (preferably around the 1st) so I can give out presents, of which there should be a decent amount. Pilots, this would be a good time to send an activity log to your commanders to make sure they aren't missing any important info. CM Fox, please let me know if you will be doing the Shield MSE ASAP.

4. **RECRUITMENT DRIVE** - #1 PRIORITY
Our numbers are lower than they have ben since our last recruitment drive, so it's about time for another. We realy need to get some new blood in here, go for rl and reservists, stay away from cadets. I will be VERY generously awarding everyone who brings in recruits.

5. WEEKLY ACTIVITY
I want to see stuff I can submit to the EH newsletter to promote Wing IX. Each submission get's you a medal in and of itself, plus I'll offer ISM/PC if you send me enough stuff to merit it. This is something easy to do, the newsletter will publish just about anything, so let's get out there and make ourselves known.

6. 10TH ANNIVERSARY TRIVIA COMP
This is sponsored by the FC I think, and is going to award the coveted IS-PR (!). I probably won't do it, but you all should. Let's see Wing IX win.

7. DRINK OF THE WEEK
Straight from the bar of the Stardrifter Lounge, and personally tested and approved by Major Rejili Holthaus, this week's serving suggestion ...

SEX ON THE BEACH
Ingredients:
4 oz Vodka
4 oz Peach Schnops
Orange Jiuce
Cranberry Juice
Mixing instructions:
Mix Alcohol and top off the glass 50/50 with orange and cranberry juice.

THE WING IX MORALE OFFICE
-----------------------------------------------
A Rant from the Desk of Colonel Steve the Cricket Bat ...

Proper care and maintenance of your TIE Fighter.

Pilots it has come to our attention that your TIE Fighters are
visiting the Maintenance Shop more and more. I don't know about you,
but the guys in the 44th Fighter Support Battalion are getting sick of
it. The problems with your laser systems, and engines can be easily
prevented by proper care and inspection every week.

Your lasers misfiring, and the lower than average power output can be
easily prevented by cleaning your TIE. When you fire your and are hit
by random lasers carbon is dispersed into the space around your craft.
This black charcoal like substance has damaging effects on your laser
systems and solar panels. Cleaning them will make your lasers fire
more efficiently, and get more power to your engines.

A TIE without communications is like a Wookie without a leash. It
means big trouble for the master. A simple way to prevent radio
communication problems is to check your radio once a week. A simple
radio message sent to and received from the 7th Signal Command
Battalion. A radio message once a week is enough to control the
length bugs plague your communications systems.

And finally, yourself. The most important part of your TIE fighter is
yourself, pilot. Keeping yourself healthy and exercising is enough to
keep you in high spirits and able to show many Rebel pilots the doom.

STANDING ORDERS
-------------------------------

-ALL MEMBERS-

Weekly Contact
At the very minimum, all members of the Wing will make contact with thier direct superior at least one time per week, VIA EMAIL. This is the very minimum to be considered active in Wing IX. If you intend to be off of the internet for more then (5) days, email your Commander and let him or her know as a common courtesy. If you are taking a Leave of Abscense more then ten (10) days, notify your Commander -AND- the Wing Commander via email.

-SQUADRON COMMANDERS-

Weekly Squadron Reports (WSRs)
WSEs will be submitted NLT 12.00PM each Thursday by email to the Wing Commander, Your Squadron, and the Wing IX Email List. Also, each report must contain statistics for Total missions flown, and IWATS passed.

Monthly Squadron Evaluations (MSEs)
MSEs will be submitted to the Wing Commander NLT the last day of the month. It should cover activity throughout the whole month.

AWOLs / MIAs / Reserve Requests
If you have found a pilot to be AWOL (no contact in 30 days), or MIA (bad email address), or a pilot has requested to go the reserves, you WILL NOT make the database request yourself. Forward the relevant information to the Wing Commander, who will verify the information, and make one last effort to 'save' the pilot before he or she is removed from the wing. This is NOT to take authority away from the CMDRs, but to allow the flags to ensure that a pilot really wants to leave. A good example is a pilot whos pissed off at his CMDR and has requested the reserves, when it's entirely possible the pilot would be happy in another squadron.

Flight Leaders
EVERY Flight Leader position in the Wing will ALWAYS be filled. If your Flight Leader leaves the squadron for whatever reason, you will appoint a new Flight Leader immediately. The Flight Office requires that all three flights have a leader in order for new pilots to be placed in that Squadron. We will not miss any opportunity for new pilots!

Designated XO
Every Squadron will have a designated XO. This person will know what he or she needs to do in the event that you are unable to come online, specifically in the area of filing a report for you.
