Wing VII Report # 2





Hello, hello, hello! To the weekly report for Wing VII! Read and learn...or not. :P





NEWS:

~ For the wing, I'd like to see a bit more communication between everyone. If you see something on the web that is interesting or funny, share it with the wing!



~ Speaking of communication, if you happen to be online and are able to, feel free to download and use mIRC from www.mirc.com and come on in to the TC channel or even our own wing and ship channels! The TC channel is (for obvious reasons. :P) #tiecorps. For the Wing channel, come over to #wing_vii and for the Sov, run along to #sssd_sovereign. For those who do not know what I am talking about, feel free to email or IM me. I use AOL IM and am 'lcm turr'. I'm usually on during the day, during the week. Sometimes, I'm on at night so come on over and hang out!



~ I went to dinner the other night and came home (novel concept, eh? :P) and could not fall asleep. So I turned the TV on and found a special about...Star Wars! That's right! There was a special about George Lucas and the Star Wars Trilogy, from the actors to the music, to the release dates back in the 70's and 80's, to the technology that was used at that time! Needless to say, I stayed up and watched it...until about 130a! :P



~ Speaking of the Trilogy, the DVD version comes out on Sept 21st! I reserved a copy a few months ago so I'll be getting it very soon!! Yay!



~ Several battles and free missions have been updated! Go and fly!**



~ Wing X is in need of a WC! If you have what it takes, then apply to AD Mell Kerrigan with the subject line of 'Wing X WC Application'



~ The banner/motto comp is going on and will be until the end of Oct. Show me the pride you have in your wing by submitting something!



~ Ares and Aurora Squadron is in need of a Commander. Apply to me and AD Proton if you want it or feel you are capable of taking command with the subject line of '[Rank/Name] for [Squadron name] Squadron Commander!'. I will not put anything out on the message boards until the next report, so that means you have about one week to apply! Next Tu or We, I'll put something on the message boards and open it up for all of the TC.


~ SA Astatine is running two comps!

~ AD Proton is running another Imperial Alliance Screenshot contest! Fly IA and take a screenshot and the best one wins! See 'SUGGESTIONS' below for more info on IA.



~ Commanders, I need you to find out from your guys and gals, what platforms they have and are able to use. I'm thinking of a wing comp but need to be certain that we have the proper equipment (and no, out drinking the other wings does not count as a comp...we do that already. :P).

~ Fly for the SBotM! Very Important!



~ Recruit! There are many wings and squadrons that need people, namely ours. :P



~ The banner/motto comp is going on, so remember to submit. Even a picture in paint with show that you want to stay active.



~ Do the XO's comp if you have the knowledge!



~ HAVE FUN! I can't stress that enough. The reason why we joined was to have fun and to enjoy ourselves. Fly and be active. Usually, the more active you are, the more fun you'll have. The one thing that I have found is that what you put in, is what you get out of it and I know that all the games we play and use are getting a bit long in the teeth, in terms of video game ages, but try to fly and get active. They can still be fun!





SUGGESTIONS:

**~ On more of a personal note, I have said that flying is not everything. That has not changed. Flying is not everything, which is why there is a comp about the wing's banner and motto (not to mention Ast's comp) was started but it IS an integral part of the club, be it for comps (such as the SBotM) or for fun. So try and remember that we are here to fly AND have fun. Flying is important, almost as much as having fun, so remember that when you hear about a mission that was updated or when you get an email about a flying competition, be it for the SBotM or a Wing/Squad Vs Wing/Squad comp.



~ For IA, you will need the Freespace 2 game (not the demo). Then you'll need to download the IA mod and updated launcher for it. You'll want to overwrite the existing IA.exe launcher that comes with the mod.
