| The Tie Corps Database is still down, and as such we have limited news. Rumors say the database may make it's return this weekend. The XO has located new hosting and is in the process of working a few kinks out. Everyone should be advised that the dump from the database goes back to around January, so a lot of catch up will have to be done. |

The biggest news event of the week is no doubt the appointment of myself as the new Wing Commander. Beers are on me for the next month according to Bubba. Additionally, a notice to all members of the wing from Bubba and myself. Upon the return of the database, there will be no database requests (Except Competitions) from ANY MEMBER OF THE WING. This means no transfer requests, no promotion requests, no medal requests, etc. If you feel something is absolutely urgent, email Bubba and myself, and we'll decide if it needs to be done. The purpose for this is 1) to allow the FO and OPS to recover from the slam they are no doubt going to recieve in the first few days after the database is back up, and 2) allow Bubba and myself to gather all the information we need to for database adjustments without having half of the info changing every other minute. |

Righto then. For those of you who don't know, I'm the new Wing Commander (go me). I've served in the EH for over three years in various subgroups and positions throughout the club. My claim to fame comes from the Corporate Division, where I'm a bit of a hero. Anyways. I'm a pretty easy going guy, for the most part I'm easy to work with. Any member of the wing should feel free to come to me with ideas, suggestions, complaints, etc. My office is always open. I'm available fairly often on IRC (Thorin or some variant), AIM (joejea1764), and email (thorin@corporatesector.net). Once again, feel free to email me at any times.
My expectations for all of you are quite simple. Do the job you're appointed to do, be active, and most importantly have fun. A few calls of courtesy however; if you are going to be on leave, please notify the person above you (be it your FL, CMDR, or myself), makes everyones day a bit easier. A few notes for my commanders. Obviously I don't know any of you yet, however theres a few simple things I expect from each of you. 1. Reports. There is no excuse to have a report in late. I have to write my report by midnight on Friday, so that means yours should be in my inbox Thursday night or Friday morning. If you are on leave, your designated 'XO' (see below), should write your report. If the database is down, I still want a report in my inbox. 2. Flight Leaders. I expect EVERY Flight in the Wing to have a Flight Leader. In order for a squadron to get new members from the Flight Office, its a requirement that every Flight Leader Spot be filled. By your next report, I want all of you to have your two flight leader positions filled. Additionally, I expect every Squadron to have a designated 'XO'. By no means is this an official position or idline inflation, nor does this person need to be the person you want to be next in line for the CMDR slot, you simply need to have someone who is capable of running a Squadron for small ammounts of time, and writing reports in your abscense. In the event that you turn up missing, can't get online, etc, this Flight Leader needs to know what to do (generally, this just means writing a report for you). 3. Timely Responses. You don't all need to be online 24/7, nor do I expect you too, however, you need to be able to process your pilots BSFs in a day or two, be able to answer questions, etc. Finally, a bit about the guy behind Thorin Oakenshield. I'm 18 yrs old (19 in 2.5 weeks, yea me) and live in Murfreesboro TN. I'm in the United States Army, and I'm stationed in Germany (in route on Jun 1st). I've been to Iraq once, might go again, who knows :p. I spend quite a bit of time online, and other then Star Wars, my hobbies and interests include Lord of the Rings (go figure, lol), movies, gaming, usual guy stuff. |

No Information As Of Yet. All of the Current Competitions started by Trido will be continued, I just have to get the relevant information and submissions from him. I hope to do all of that tomorrow. Also, pending the return of the Database, I'll be hosting my first competition as Wing Commander starting next week. Detials will be released then, but for now, you just need to know that the first Wing Commander's Own award and lots of shineys will be given out. |
