Pilots of Wing I:

The big news of the week is that RA Proton announced a Readiness
Competition for the pilots of the Sov. There are three free missions
to fly, and you may fly one or more of them. We only have one week to
fly the missions, so get in those TIEs and fly!

Please join me in welcoming Colonel StarLion back to Wing I. The
former Fleet Admiral has stepped down from his position as the fleet
Tactical Officer (the guy who processes all your pilot files) and is
now with us in Gamma Squadron. Welcome back, StarLion!

I have sent in a recommendation for the new Alpha CMDR, but the Flight
Office still needs to approve it. With any luck, the squadron will get
its new CMDR this week.

Colonel Ford has come up with a devious plan: a Sovereign Mascot
Competition. This competition will have many categories to participate
in. However, the wing has a small problem: we haven't got a mascot! I
am currently taking suggestions for a mascot that would be able to
beat Wing II's Mariachi MiniFords and Wing IV's bottle of vodka in
this kind of competition. Some possibilities that have been suggested
are my pet, Booboo the Butterfly, a dead rebel (Full Metal Jacket,
anybody?), and a Krayt Dragon. If you have a suggestion or would like
to vote for one of the ones I just mentioned, just drop me a note.

The dates for the mascot competition haven't been announced yet, but
rest assured that I will notify you just as soon as there's anything
to announce.

It has come to my attention that one squadron commander in particular
is anxious for me to announce which squadron is Wing Commander's Own
for October. While there has been some great activity from some
individual pilots within the wing, I regret to say that I have not
seen the sort of teamwork and spirit that I am looking for in any
squadron so far. Therefore, there will be no WC's Own for October.

RA Proton has announced a Sov-wide combat readiness competition! All
pilots should fly one or more of the following three free missions:

TIE-FREE #160 - Colossus: Gold Rush
XvT-FREE #50 - The Intrepid Catches the Defiance
XWA-FREE #29 - Operation TakeDown

The deadline for the competition is October 3rd! Please submit your
pilot files to your CMDR.

All pilots are invited to design a home page for the SSSD Sovereign to
replace the one previously hosted by GN Wolly. Required elements:
Navigation scheme, HTML design for Sovereign home page and the
following additional pages: News, Ship Data, War Room (competitions),
Cantina (gateway to message board, IRC information, etc.), Wings,
Commodore's Office, Art Gallery, Fiction Compendium.

Winning entry may be used as the new SSSD Sovereign home page.
Optional elements: Main logo, link banner, other graphics. Some
graphics may be used as the new elements of the Sov page and in a new
art gallery.
