Wing News

(Note: Any replies to anything in here should be made to the Colossus Egroups at (ISD-Colossus@yahoogroups.com) or me individually at (absolutv@isdcolossus.com).

Well to jump start this report, we have restarted our weekly meetings, in case you haven't heard already. So far its been going well, rather short meetings, but still we have them. We even allow you voice your opinion at the end of the meetings. Rather a toned questions and answers bout, but well you can still say what you think about somethings as they go on here. So stop by the Colossus IRC channel and have a peek, maybe just maybe your voice will be heard too!

Another thing was the poor turn out for the Wing vs Wing comp again! Out of 36 pilots 37 with VA Mell , only 18 managed to pull their weight in gold and fly for the Wings honor, myself included if you can believe it. I actually managed to fly one whole battle and two free missions. And now I'm making this report for you to read. So if I can do this I know that the rest of you can as well. To be honest its really not all the difficult to so, all you have to do is apply yourself for maybe 1 hour and BAM the battle is done. I can't remember how long it took me but I did thats the point. I hope the next one we have more of you will turn out and participate.

I realize that ECR is here, school, exams, studdy time, work for the rest. But check this out. I go to work everyday, come home and go to work by helping the wife take care of the baby, do woodworking in my garage, try to create comps for you, participate in comps myself, and then do a Wing report for you to see what you missed, and if I have the time out of all that, I'll hold the sunday meetings to get other stuff organized, among other things. So you see if I ask you to do a simple thing as fly a battle for your wing for a simple comp, its not really asking alot of you, or do you think so?

Okay now for a few updates. As you'll read below, the HGK temp site is up for you to review. Now if you decide you would like to enter this ladder comp and have fun with the rest of us, then I suggest you go read the rulz. There is not that many, but they are important, so you know how things will be run. This will be fun, I promise, but you have to help me make it fun for you. Would you like to be a Colossus Hall of Famer? Would you like your name in lights for the rest of the ship to see? Then get ready for this, cuz in about 2 weeks the HGK will start. Thats it for me enjoy the rest of the report.

Standing Order #1: (RL) Real Life first!
Of course the first and foremost thing is RL. It is highly recommended to take all RL matters first and before all ship functions, unless you just don't care. I would like to enforce this order to all members. But please be reminded that you should inform your superiors of any situation so that we can count you on LOA, and don't forget to mark your profile stating your on Leave. Even if your only going to be on leave for 2 days, please mark your absence. This way if it takes longer than we know where you are and won't count you as MIA/AWOL.

ISDCA - ISD Colossus Ace Competition Round #2 - coming to a theater near you :)
Round 2 coming soon try in about 2 more weeks, once ECR is about finished.

Hall of the Grand Knight - (HGK):
Myself and CM Aidan Pryde would like to introduce the Colossus Ladder comp. Which is only about 2 weeks away. Reason is because we don't want to interfere with the ECR comp which is still ongoing. Once everything settles we'll get it on the move. For now you may visit the HGK website at HGK I would like to stress to those of you who desire to participate, to read the rules carefully. They are not difficult, but they don't tolerate certain points, so just for you to understand the rules of engagment.

Shopping List
None at the moment as were waiting the results from the Wing VIII vs Wing VI comp. I can say that so far atleast 50% of the ship participated flying either the TIE-TC #173 battle or the XWA-TC #14 battle, and a couple even did both, I'm proud of those pilots :).

Lastly, like I said before, if you want some easy medals, then go fly. I have in the past awarded, ISMs for flying 20+ missions, PCs for flying 40+ missions, and BSs for flying 80+ missions. So if your game for a medal then go fly, its not hard just takes a little of your time and patience. Medals for the past week will be awarded after I submit this report as I will be submitting them right after :P

Egroups
Seems things are getting rather slow again. Come one lets pick up the chatter. A small reminder to the CMDR's, is you need to make sure that everyone is part of their egroups to ensure they get all mail sent to them. Just make sure you CC VA Mell on all communiqués. I don't want him being left out! Remember if you reply to this Wing Report you will need to contact me via my e-mail at: LC Absolut Vodka (absolutv@isdcolossus.com) or simply add the Colossus egroup addy at (ISD-Colossus@yahoogroups.com) to the TO line. I can't express this enough. Because if your reply is trivial then the others don't need to see it, as well as being personal.

IRC
This is becoming a better means of chat among our members. Things are going rather slowly by getting some of our newer members on-line IRC, however, things are picking up, really! Unfortunately my time on-line has been cut short to mostly weekends, as I have lots do to. Lastly, make sure you use the undernet when you sign on, then go to Channel #isd_colossus. This is where you'll find the most talkative of the Wing :)

Colossus Website
Absolut Vodka Has released the HGK site for the Colossus Public. You can view the site here: HGK please read the rules of participation, these rules will be followed while doing the ladder. I will be doing an update on the main Colossus website this weekend, to ensure that the database has the most accurate list of our members. This way atleast all members can make a news post :P

Reminder to the CMDR's don't forget the end of the month is coming and MSE's will be do soon. So get your stuff together now. Also I'll be needing your rec's for the Colossus Awards. I'll be sending a seperate mail out about this directly to you. But just so you know you can go to the website and review the award titles and see what categories there are, just to get a jump on my future mail to you :)

  2. Can ya believe it? I actually did a couple of courses and got a high Honor award for one of them :) But still no one will get awarded an ISM this week. If an ISM sounds cool to you then we can help you get an easy ISM. Just apply yourself for a few minutes of your day and do 4 IWATS courses for the week and you'll get one too! But they must be completed and passed within the reporting week or it doesn't count :P And CMDR's don't forget to try and atleast get those who you think will be promising Officers for the future to take the SM/2 course.

BSF STATISTICS
Okay here we are at the heart of the Wing. The thing we've all waited to see. Well maybe you don't want to see it this week :P as it is pretty poor. But just remember, don't cheat to get that high score, as it will put your career in danger, trust me. Now onto the overall stats for the Wing.

    Pretty poor show this last week, I hope this picks up a bit. Here are the Top 5 Pilots for the last week showing off their BSF stats:

My congratz to MAJ Zystem Fryar in winning the POW (Pilot of the Week)! He took it away and made an outstanding show this past week! CPT Avantar was on his arse but ZF is the one to beat this time taking the top gun award this time! I'll give the two Pi pilots a big cookie since they have retained the POW title for two weeks now. Does anyone feel they can challenge them to take it away from them? Good Luck!

Top Squadron of the Week
Over all I have to say congratulations to Pi Squadron, as they take the SOW (Squadron of the Week) award again for the second week! They did it by flying for: 35 BSF's and 197 missions for the month to date. Outstanding activity guys! Lets see if they can keep it up until the end of the month ;) They kept a steady pace through out the week thus earning them the title of Squadron of the Week for the second straight week. Good job guys!

Top Squadron of the Month for September
Everyone congratulate Nu Squadron! They have topped the charts with an overall 208 missions for the month of September. The only ones who even came close was Eta closing in behind with 194 missions. Competition for squadron of the month was close, but in the end the victor was Nu. Good job!

Well there ya have it. Pi taking it again. They have an outstanding show already this month. But they better watch out since Eta is right on their heels coming in a close second. I do see a bit of competitiveness here which is good. I just hope in the coming weeks this will pick up even better. I want to see more fighting for the top honors. Will Pi hold on to it for the rest of the month? Stay tuned to the Colossus network, as it can only get better!

Miscellanous

Well this is it for my trial and error Wing Report. This is a new thing and I hope it will stick. The only problem is the amount of time is takes to create this blasted thing. However, I hope now since I've made this template that all will be required is to just edit this thing and post what I need to say, which should cut on down time for creating my Wing Report in this fashion.
