General Information

I have to start off with a bit of humor at the expense of LC Dengar March. It isn’t often that you see an officer reach the rank of LC and a position of WC without having first taken the SM/2 Course at IWATS! :P I guess it’s safe to say that our former WC managed to slip through the cracks of the requirements without anyone noticing until now. In any case, congratulations on finally completing the IWATS SM/2 Course, Deng!!! hehehe

SITE OF THE WEEK! That’s right, the ISD Intrepid/Wing XIV site was chosen as the EH site of the week! Once again I want to express my thanks to CPT Drako of Diamondback for his hard work and efforts in putting together a site that shows we are a Ship and Wing worth serving in. I also want to thank the other members of the Wing XIV Webpage Council who have put forth what extra time they’ve had to help complete the remaining pages for the site. Great job everyone!! J

Going to be a busy report this week with two competitions closing and activity being re-geared for June. The objective for June is to Recruit and gain more Battle Citations! Since we’ve proven in the last 9 weeks that our pilots can fly, it should be much easier now for the CMDR’s to focus their attention into winning more BC’s. :P

I want to apologize to any female pilots in Wing XIV if at any time I may have offended them by referring to a particular female pilot as “he” or some other variation. Until recently I was only aware of two female pilot in our ranks, LCM’s Tissaya Argat and Trashman. I’ve only recently been informed that LT Phantom is a female pilot as well, and I am not sure if any others serve within Wing XIV. In the future if I accidentally make reference to an incorrect gender understand this is not intentional, only a habit this old WC has in dealing with mainly male pilots. I will endeavor to correct my oversights in the future however. ;)

Congratulations to LCM Gistenjunge of Asp Squadron, who by stealth has become the 2nd highest CR pilot in Wing XIV! LCM Gist started out having problems winning MP matches at the beginning of the SC, but then came on strong these last four or five weeks to take home well over 80 wins to end with a CR of 110! Gist has also won 5 DFC’s, and has proven to be a very capable MP pilot for Wing XIV. CPT Doros, I’d be watching my back if I were you, you could easily find yourself knocked down from the top CR position! LOL

As promised, a small number of pilots have been submitted for AWOL/Removal from the Wing. Maybe in the future FM’s will take my warnings seriously about being kicked out of Wing XIV and the TC. Unfortunately three pilots have found their way to the chopping block, and all have come from Asp Squadron where CM John Clark has tried valiantly to get some activity out of them. I want to thank each CMDR for the impressive way you each removed inactive pilots during the course of the ASF-SC IV, and were able to replace nearly each one in order to keep our numbers staying near 50! The following pilots have already had AWOL requests submitted against them:

· LT Kar Ter
· LCM Trashman
· LT Haztix Vel

A great week of MP activity, and also a great 9 weeks as well! This week we had a total of 57 LoC’s and 5 DFC’s awarded to pilots of Wing XIV! This is a great accomplishment, and just goes to show that we can make a genuine MP presence in the EH MP Comps, and in the WoW’s! Keep up the great MP flying in the future and Wing XIV will be the most sought after home for MP pilots!! :)

Our final results for the ASF-SC IV have been compiled and are being sent to the COM and BGCOM today for final analysis. I don’t suspect any errors to be found, but even if any are found it shouldn’t impact our final scores very much at all. I have worked very hard to ensure that the points have stayed as accurate as possible, not an easy task when you consider that at least 95% of our pilots were active the entire time, and also doing this around my hectic RL work schedule as well. In any event LC Sarin, CMDR of Avenger Squadron, won’t be able to submit his Squadrons final scores until Monday, so it will be sometime next week before the BGCOM announces the final overall results of the Supremacy Competition! In any event I want everyone to continue their great activity and push on through the month of June with their duties. ;)

The final results of the Wing XIV Competition are another matter, as I do have those results and am now ready to list the winners of each category! I’m also going to be pushing for 2nd place awards, since the former TO somehow managed NOT to list that I would be awarding any for this competition. But I somehow doubt I’ll have much trouble from OPS getting the 2nd place awards pushed through. ;) Here are the 1st through 3rd place winners in each category:

FCHG: 1st Place – LCM Tissaya Argat
2nd Place – CPT Frodo
3rd Place – LC Dengar March & LCM Ace

MP: 1st Place – LCM Gistenjunge
2nd Place – LT Phantom
3rd Place – COL Wil Striker

Graphics: 1st Place – CM Tvan’Oris (had a whopping 89 entries!)
2nd Place – LT Viet & LCM Ace
3rd Place – None

Fiction: 1st Place – CPT Paul
2nd Place – CPT Frodo
3rd Place – LCM Derek Dan

IWATS: 1st Place – LCM Jedi Eclipse
2nd Place – LCM Ace
3rd Place – MAJ Kyle, LT Bolan Remon, and LT Phantom

Overall Winner: 1st Place – CM Tvan’ Oris
2nd Place – LT Phantom
3rd Place –LCM Ace

As you all know by now I’m all about finding ways to keep my pilots busy and involved at all times. Therefore in the very near future I will be announcing the details of a new competition, geared especially towards Recruiting! Don’t groan, because it will benefit the entire Wing in the end, plus a couple of very lucky pilots with some great medals! I’m also working on a Wing vs. Wing comp with GN Sickman of Wing V. He is tired of his pilots being lazy in their comfy bunks on the SSSD Sovereign, and has asked me to setup a match between Wing V and Wing XIV. Look for more exciting information on this in the near future as well! J

Now that the ASF-SC IV has finally wrapped up, I expect all pilots to take the next week and relax a bit. But be ready for some exciting fun and activities to come your way later in June! ;)

Cobra and Viper Squadrons, unfortunately your TIE Corps Roster banners have fallen prey to the XO’s new banner guidelines and have been removed from the rosters. I encourage the CMDR’s of these two squadrons to set out a new competition to create a new banner, but be sure it uses the XO’s new policy, ie. it can’t be larger than 50K in file size. If someone comes up with a great banner but it exceeds the 50K limitation send it to me and I’ll see if I can’t decrease the file size down further. I have a great graphics program that has the ability to compress a .jpg without actually modifying the true size and textures of the graphic itself. Just ask LC Duncan Idaho, I have compressed a number of .jpg photos for him, and not a single photo was ever decreased in its actual size, only in file size. hehehe

I want to give advanced warning now that I will be on leave from 6/14/02 until 6/23/02. My wife and I are taking a road trip to Washington, D.C. and I will be completely out of communication with the EH during that entire time. I haven’t yet decided who will be A-WC during my absence, but once I have decided, and the COM has approved my decision, then it will be announced. In any case I plan on having a blast, and have already gotten my Senator to set us up with a complete tour of the Capitol building, the White House, Library of Congress, and we have also ordered tickets to see the Holocaust Museum. I also plan on visiting the WWII and Vietnam Memorials, and other historic markers in the D.C. area. I’ll be making full use of the brand new digital camera I just recently purchased, so when I get back if anyone is interested in seeing any of the pics be sure and let me know. ;)

Quote of the Week

"The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'."

All the remaining teams have multiple planets (as many as six for the Sov team) and have greatly expanded their resources and forces. Current Standings are below, but in this game it can all change in a single battle.

Sov - 74600
ASF - 44484
ATF – 56770
· Mission designers are needed to help construct custom battles for the next Dark Brotherhood Vendetta. If you have experience in making high quality battles for TIE Fighter, XvT or X-Wing Alliance, email the Executive Officer. List which platform/platforms you're interested in and, if possible, supporting evidence of your ability. A quick turnaround period is also expected.
