Wing IV News

1) The Results of the Wing IV Vs Wing V Comp have been announced. No need to tell ya who won ;)). The results are below for those of you who missed them the first time round.

Pilots of Wings IV and V,

The pilot files have been checked, the scores have been tallied, and here are the official results of the Wing IV vs. Wing V grudge match. (Must not be a very serious grudge, because participation was weak.) Flying TIE-FCHG Battle 3, IV destroys V. Congratulations to Wing IV and to the four individual medal winners :)

Wing IV:
LC Halcyon (Teth) - 358,173
COL Reaper (WC) - 283,417
CM Philo (Yod) - 252,457
LT Dedmeat (Cheth) - 213,189
MAJ David (Lamed) - 189, 518
LCM HicRic (Kaph) - 178,467

COL Ricardo (Lamed) - 148,647
LT Valic (Lamed) - 85,515

Wing V:
MAJ Yoman (Mem) - 222,378
MAJ Benjamin Jahou Morgan (Mem) - 174,827

Awards:
LC Halcyon, MAJ Yoman: IS-SW

Side wager results:
Wing V's Murkrow Defender will be without his favorite prank monkey. The stinking monkey is now in the possession of Wing IV.

WCs, I will award the four medals if you'll mail me the comp ID.

COM/VA Proton/SSSD Sovereign

Congratulations go to you all, or they would if most of ya could be bothered to fly dammit. What a pathetic display, your just lucky we won the thing. /me waves my fist at the sleepy pilots. Thanks to those to ACTUALLY flew. I hope you can manage a better showing in our next comp which is coming soon

2) Thankyou all for getting me your MSE's next time I hope to have them all within a few days of the new month. The recommendations are being processed, so please bear with it for the moment.

3) As most of you CMDR's neglected to tell me who your pilot of the month would be, I have decided to postpone the Wing Commanders Own awards till the beginning of next month :)

4) COM/VA Proton has announced a Free Mission Blast. The missions that youshould fly are XWA-FREE 48, or TIE-FREE 191 (my own nasty creation). Files are to be sent to no later than the 21st March. The overall winner will be the lucky recipient of a IS-GW, IS-SW to the second place guy and a IS-BW for 3rd. If you do enter, just cc me in on the mail so I know what is going on. As far as I am aware there has only been one other entry for this from Wing IV apart from my own. Remember you have until the 21st to fly and they are only a free-mission afterall ;)

5) Flag officers and pilots of the SSSD Sovereign and Omega Squadron,
We're going to be facing a Rebel force in live combat on March 16, 5-11 p.m. eastern time. Details remain sketchy, but I wanted to get the word out to the pilots early, so we can field a formidable force!
Flag officers, round up your XvT pilots and try to find out how many will be able to compete. We're going to need lots of pilots for six hours of individual and 2v2 matches!
I'll need two or three multiplayer veterans to commit to staffing the channel and helping me manage the competition. Get the word out on this asap so I can start hearing from interested pilots and fielding the combat operations team!
Let's get psyched for this! We brag all the time about blowing up Rebels, and here's a real opportunity to deliver on it.
COM/VA Proton/SSSD Sovereign
I know some of you are multiplayer pilots, if you can make it I would urge you too (hell I might even give it ago if I can). After all how many oppourtunities do you get to blast rebels in the flesh ;)

Ship/Fleet News

1) Wing VI's Wing Commander LC Aylius Khan has had to step down from his position. VA Proton has appointed COL Gen Es'mith. Congratulations Gen :))

2) New Episode II Trailer
08:25 - CM Master [capt_master@hotmail.com]
The new Star Wars Episode II Trailer called "Clone War" airs March 10 on FOX and starwars.com between original episodes of "Malcolm in the Middle" (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) and "The X-Files" (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

The trailer will also begin playing in cinemas on March 15, exclusively with the animated feature Ice Age, and other films thereafter

3) Wing IV Defeats Wing V In Grudge Match
08:23 - VA Proton [Hullbreach@aol.com]
In a competition using TIE-FCHG Battle 3, COL Reaper's pilots bested the Wing V bunch led by COL SickMan. LC Halcyon of Teth and MAJ Yoman of Mem were the individual top pilots for their respective wings. Congratulations to Wing IV and the medal winners! Oh, one more thing: Because his wing lost, CM Murkrow Defender had to give up his infamous prank monkey. Wing IV promptly barbecued the pest and enjoyed the fixin's as a cantina snack.

4) RE: Reporting errors
00:38 - SA Astatine [jpboyce@indigo.net.au]
The web server software that this site runs on usually gives very detailed error messages as to what the problem is relating to an error. However, by default, Internet Explorer suppresses these detailed reports, instead displaying a generic "Error 500" message. In IE 6, to turn on these detailed messages, go to Tools>Internet Options. Then select the Advanced tab. Under the Browsing heading is an item called "Show friendly HTTP error messages". You want that unchecked if you want the detailed error reports to come up.

5) Website/Database move
00:07 - SA Kawolski [absurefire@aol.com]
The tiecorps.org domain and contents have been moved over to emperorshammer.net. Please update your bookmarks. Report any errors you encounter to SA Astatine and SA Kawolski
(People with tiecorps.org e-mail addresses: your accounts have NOT changed. You address is still yourname@tiecorps.org.)

6) Flight Officer awarded Medal of Honor
09:13 - FA Striker [striker@tiecorps.org]

7) Wing Commander Appointment
04:38 - FA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
Major Talek Pter Dei has been selected as the new Wing Commander for Wing XVIII on the SSD Avenger. Congrats Talek!

8) New Jedi Knight 2 trailer
06:08 - SA Astatine [jpboyce@indigo.net.au]
A second trailer for Jedi Knight 2 has been released and this one is pretty good. Twice the length of the one on the Lucasarts site, it gives a very nice indication of the scale of the levels we can expect, the gameplay and what multiplayer will look like. The good thing is it doesn't seem to play like a Quake 3 mod. You can get it at http://files.ausgamers.com/?agn=details&id=1621. The trailer is 14.6megs and a zipped AVI file, using the Divx codec.

9) New Multiplatform Resource
21:32 - CM Akira Vorsahyer [richpizor@mac.com]
In an effort to get some multiplatform combat going, LT Akira Vorsahyer has put together a small website containing links to Star Wars mods for games running on Windows, Mac, and even a few on Linux. The site can be found at http://homepage.mac.com/richpizor/xplat/

14) Prelude to Andevia extended by one week
08:28 - SA Astatine [jpboyce@indigo.net.au]
Prelude to Andevia's closing date has been extended by one week, to 14th March 2002. The competition really needs entries in the fiction, design and other category sections. Most of the fiction events have been updated so you can now work in teams on them if you so wish. Also, some rules have been updated, so be sure to check the competition's site for details on this. Tip on fiction stuff - one of your main goals with your fiction is to give some sort of explanation for what's happened on Andevia. So, for example, when doing an alien species entry, it'd be a good idea to include some sort of characteristic that would result in the events so far.
The competition website is http://www.imperialacademy.org/comps/prelude/.
