Wing III Report # 11 (2002-01-05)

This report was submitted by LC Jahan Kalar

Greetings Wing III, this is my first report of the new year and unfortunitly I don't have good news. We have lost 4 pilots since my last report, and now we will be short two squadron commanders since CM Ace Hobbes just e-mailed me his resignation. This is, statistically, the worst time for the Tie Corps. More people enter the reserves now than during any other time. I don't know why, but this is the third after-holiday season I've been through in the Tie Corps, and it's happened every year. But it doesn't have to be all bad, but we need new pilots. Since the recruitment competition started in December, no one has received any points at all. I can't possibly believe that none of you know anyone that would want to join Wing III. That's just not possible. Get out there and recruit! It is hard for a squadron with less than half of their pilots to do a good internal competition, which is why I have a whole bunch of inter-squadron exercises scheduled for the New Year. But I want each of you to think about who you could bring in to Wing III to bring our numbers back up (especially the Commanders and pilots of Hey and Aleth Squadrons). If anyone comes to me or their commanders with an idea that works (brings in more pilots), I will award them a PC. Having squadrons with most of their pilots greatly increases the amount that squadron can participate in activities and is very important to the success of that squadron. Ok, end of my little rant, on to the report.

Orders
The Final Round of the MPB is underway. Fly TIE-TC 125 if you have TIE Fighter (and if you don't, I highly recommend getting it) and send it to (paul@reeves110.freeserve.co.uk ) by midnight January 17th GMT (this would actually by midnight GMT right after January 17th ends. I want to see participation on this people, we can win the MPB if we just gut it out through this last round.
Get ready for the competition that starts tomorrow that will be the ultimate flying battle. You'll like it, I promise :)
Recruit, recruit, recruit! You can now get an IS:SR through the recruitment competition for yourself, the title of Wing Commander's Own for your squadron, and a PC if you come up with a good idea for recruitment. This is something you should be doing anyway, but I'm trying to make it as attractive as possible. So come on, get some good stuff and bring me some more pilots!

During that last week, two of our squadron commanders have decided to retire from their positions. CPT Cray Mikalen of Beth and CM Ace Hobbes are stepping down, and I'll need good officers to take their places. I have made my decision on Beth Commander and I will announce it once it is official, but I am still accepting applications for Gimel Commander, so send them in if you want the job. Even if you applied for Beth Commander it's still worth applying since only one of you can have the job.
Wing III numbers have dropped alarmingly for the second straight week, and I think it's time we did something about it. As I said above, recruit! While we are not the smallest Wing by far, the more pilots the more things we will be able to do.
Due to an incident that happened between a few members of Wing III, I am going to remind you all that there will be no disrespectful actions directed towards any officers in Wing III or anywhere in the EH for that matter. This includes insulting officers (even if they are not present), swearing (in any language, not just English) and being disrespectful to any officer (outranking them is not an excuse). If I see or hear about anything of this nature from this point forward the offender will find themselves in big trouble very quickly. This is a place to have fun, and anything that interferes with that will be dealt with very severly indeed. Consider this a final warning.
CM Tvan'Oris won the FCHG competition for Wing III and will be representing Wing III in the final showdown.

Other Stuff
"Beware a leader that has ambition."
"Being a leader does not mean you have power, it means your have responsibility. Those that do not recognize this are the worst leaders of all."
That's all for now...until next time, shoot straight and faster than they do.
