WING REPORT #19
Wing IX, ISD Relentless
“The Fighting Ninth”

TIE CORPS NEWS: More promotions as Flag Officer vacancies are filled throughout the fleet. Congratulations go out to COL Slyth (WC of Wing XI), LC Janson (WC of Wing XIII) and RA Azazel (Grey Wolf COM). Most of the bugs associated with the database move seem to have been worked out, but there are still issues with .zip files and the viewing of BSFs for high score verification (sorry, Neko!). Given time, though, it will all work out. There’s a poll up where you can evaluate the performance of the new XO. Your WC reports, you decide. For the latest information, check out http://www.tiecorps.org/news.asp.

WING NEWS: The biggest event to report this time out is that Crossbow Squadron is officially open once more! COL Doyon and his command staff (COL Osan’gar and CAPT Vector) have already moved their gear from Sword’s quarters to those of Crossbow, and the deck crews are bringing those TIE Defenders out of mothballs. Vector’s already posted a recruiting message, and good things are looked for from Crossbow’s veteran commanders. It’s good to have our Reconnaissance Squadron back in action after all this time (about a year, if memory serves). Maybe one of them will be able to work Crossbow into the run-on (hint…hint).

Of course, with another Squadron open, recruiting becomes a top priority once again. The Challenge is one ahead of us now (boo, hiss!). Know someone who’s looking to enjoy a good game of TIE in the company of friends? Recruit ‘em! Know a veteran who’s ready to come back to active duty and is looking for a good Squadron? Recruit ‘em! There’s another reason for this: Dagger Squadron is still mothballed. I’d dearly love to get it active again, too. TIE Wings are falling in overall numbers, and wouldn’t it be something if we had the ONLY TIE Wing in the fleet with ALL its Squadrons open?

In other news, we welcome another Wing IX veteran back to the folds of active service. COL Ricaud joins us again as a FM in Sword. Welcome back, Ric! We’ve also had some well-earned promotions (congratulations Falcon and Ackbar!) and medals.

The COM and I are working on some Wing-on-Wing challenges for us in the coming month. CMDRs, if you could, let me know in advance of any comps you’ve got arranged. That way we’ll be able to schedule things without overloading anyone.

Our run-on has drifted onto the Immortal’s MB. This is a “good thing” as far as I’m concerned. Hopefully they’ll pick up the challenge and add to it. I’m also wondering if we have enough XWA pilots “in the house” to have some kind of competition with them. I’ve already heard from some of you regarding this, but I’d like to hear more.

One final note: CHEATING! DON’T DO IT! That kind of conduct is beneath the spirit, honor, and dignity of this Wing. It’s also a one-way ticket OUT of Wing IX. We will not cheat, nor tolerate those among us who do.

SQUADRON ACTIVITIES: Squadron activity continues to be steady, although a shade uneven. And it’s starting to look like Hammer will lose its deadlock on the WCO plaque.

Sword: Working on a Top Gun.

Crossbow: Opened! Now seeking pilots.

Spear: Engaged in a Top Gun. Also working on a web page and other activities.

Hammer: No current comps.

Shield: Engaged in a competition with Yod Squadron, as well as a second comp with Tempest Squadron. Shield’s very busy right now, and a model of activity. Go Mosh!
