WING REPORT #6
Wing IX, ISD Relentless
“The Fighting Ninth”

TIE CORPS NEWS: Wing XX is still looking for a WC. They’ve got some additional requirements for the job, and you also have to be in the DB. Wing X has an opening, too. Looks to have been a quiet week in the Corps on the whole. Your WC reports, you decide. For the latest information, check out http://www.tiecorps.org/news.asp.

WING NEWS: The Wing IX Top Gun competition for December has come to a close. It was a tight race, and participation was on the whole good. The Top Gun this month was LCM Dupuy of Hammer Squadron, followed closely by MAJ Kitane of Hammer. Congratulations to these two fine pilots, and to all those Wing IX pilots who participated.

The new official IRC channel of Wing IX and the ISD Relentless is #ISD|Relentless. This closes a long and turbulent chapter in the Wing’s history. The forum #ISD_Relentless was a fixture, but I’d like you all to think about something. Traditions are made by people, not locations. The traditions and history of Wing IX will exist and grow so long as there are people in the Wing who remember them and pass them on to new members of the Wing. Our traditions belong to ALL of us, not just one person or one location. Taken as a whole, they are bigger than any one person or any one place. Claiming otherwise dishonors both those traditions and the unit which gave them life. The only way these traditions can be lost is if they are not passed on to those who join the Wing. Tradition is not stagnant. It continues to grow as long as there are people who are willing and able to add to it. And living in the past is never a good way to continue traditions. We will carry our traditions and our honor with us as we stride confidently into the future, passing them on to future officers of Wing IX like the brotherhood we are. I hope to see you all there.

Speaking of brotherhoods, I’d like to welcome a new member to the brotherhood of Wing IX Squadron Commanders. CM Argyle Ironfist, rise and take your place as Spear Squadron’s new commander with pride and honor! You’ve served Spear well as her Executive Officer and have truly earned your chance at command. We now have, in my opinion, the best group of Squadron Commanders in the entire fleet – leading the best pilots in the TIE Corps.

It’s been brought to my attention that some pilots in the Wing are having trouble with their TIE programs (either damaged disks or some other difficulty). In at least one case, this almost resulted in the pilot asking for a transfer. I’d like to say right now that I don’t have a problem with Wing IX pilots flying XvT or XWA missions. So long as you can fly something, I’m happy. It shows me that you want to be active, and are doing the best you can to remain with the Wing. That kind of initiative is noticed…

One final note: CHEATING! DON’T DO IT! It’s been proven to cause acne in lab rats, as well as a really bad rash once the chain of command gets done chewing on your backside. It’s also a one-way ticket OUT of Wing IX. We will not cheat, nor tolerate those among us who do.

SQUADRON ACTIVITIES: Hammer and Shield squadrons continue to run neck-and-neck in their quest for the title of Wing Commander’s Own. But Sword has gotten a shot in the arm in the form of a skilled veteran Wing IX pilot, and Spear’s new commander is aggressively recruiting and putting his own stamp on the squadron. It’s anyone’s title now…

Sword: No current comps

Spear: No current comps – it’s recruiting time in Spear

Hammer: Working on an “add citations” competition.

Shield: No current comps, but still flying their backsides off…;-)

WHAT THE WC’S DOING: This week: Finished TIE-FREE 114 – did this report – communicated with squadron commanders – working on the six squadron training missions – got another uniform gong for my constant blather (the PC, for those scoring at home, or even if you’re by yourself) – worked on the SSOs
