Wing III Report # 2 (2001-10-02)

This report was submitted by LC Jahan Kalar

Greetings Wing III, and welcome to another edition of the Wing III Weekly Report. This week saw a lot of new things to do, most notably the Sovereign Surprise Competition. Just a reminder, fly that by October 2nd and submit your BSF(s) to your Commanders. Wing III had better be the most active in the XWA competition, since we are an XWA Wing after all.

Position Changes and Promotions
SL Aeishline Strathaven has joined Aleth Squadron brining Aleth Back up to 11 pilots.
Aeishline Strathaven has also been promoted to LT for completion of three IWATS courses. Congrats, and everyone knows who's buying the drinks!
LCM Tvan'Oris and LT Dirk Fireslinger are the new Hey Flight Leaders. They're buying drinks too, right...
SL Maw'la has been promoted to LT. More drinks for everyone.
LCM Treb Helfest has resigned and has moved to the reserves. But we all know that no one stays there long, they just can't resist the urge to come back. Or maybe that's just me. In any case...

Medals and Awards
LCM Arcanian Stirner has received an MoI for helping to train LT Strathaven. Like I said before, we need more of that sort of thing. I eventually want to open up Vav, but I think we'll need some more pilots first.
IWATS Graduates
LT Strathaven has completed IIC/1.
LT Strathaven has completed IIC/2.
LT Strathaven has completed IIC/3.
LT Kash Kadan has completed RT (Rebellion Tactics).
LT Kash Kadan has completed TT (Tie Fighter Tactics).
SL Stonewall Jack completed SM/2.

A Word About CRRs and CRTs

As you may have noticed, I am no longer publishing the list of CRRs for each squadron in the weekly reports. The reason for this is that I have changed the Wing policy a little bit in regards to the whole idea of CRRs and CRTs. I think they are still a great tool for finding out how ready and active a squadron is, but I think that they should be more of a internal thing rather than something that concerns the whole Wing. So, to that effect, here's the policy changes. A low CRR no longer prevents your squadron from participating in certain things (like intersquad competitions). However, the Commander of a squadron may want to take his squad's CRR into account when deciding to challenge another squadron. CRTs will now be used as more of a way for the Commanders to put a number on their squad's activity level rather than as a "grade" for their squadron. I will still want every squad to test at least once every six months, and if your squadron has a low CRR I will take notice. But the whole Combat Testing affair will be between myself, the squadron commander, and his or her squadron. For those of you looking for a number to point to to prove how good your squadrons is, don't worry, I'm working on something...

Wing III Quote of the Week

"Stop that seduction immediate Var, and put that away!" - CPT Cal Sinis is making me wonder if maybe I stepped into the Wing III Channel at a bad time.

Other notable quotes:

"That's why I'm CMDR and You're not! You don't know everything about Position and Rank promo's yet... it's not all in the manuals! :P" - CM Var Zoraan points out something every CMDR knows. "It's not all in the manuals." You can say that again.

"Var, why you're so enthusiastic??? This is only our Wing Commander :)" - LCM Ace Hobbes shows that not even the Wing Commander is free from mockery. But it's all good, because I have a good sense of humor. It will be hilarious when Ace spends the next week cleaning the Wing III Briefing room with a toothbrush, right Ace? Haha, funny stuff.

"Gimel has parachutes so we can fly very high! :)" - LT Willow Wizzkid apparently doesn't realize that there is no air in space. Or maybe Gimel can "fly high" even on the ground ;)

Wing III Numbers
Flag Officers - 1

Aleth - 11
Beth - 8
Gimel - 11
Daleth - 8
Hey - 7
Vav - 0

Total: 46

Wing Commander Words of Wisdom
