WING REPORT #13
Wing IX, ISD Relentless
“The Fighting Ninth”

TIE CORPS NEWS: Another fairly quiet week in the Corps. They’re still looking for a new Training Officer. The EH database is going offline until new server space is created. All sorts of fun stuff. Your WC reports, you decide. For the latest information, check out http://www.tiecorps.org/news.asp.

WING NEWS: We’ve got a fair amount to discuss this time, so let’s get right to it.

PRIORITY ALPHA-ONE: The Battlegroups’ “Highlander” competition continues. With the exception of Spear (which was done in by lack of participation) every Wing IX Squadron advanced. Now we have Sword dueling with Shield, and Hammer takes on Tornado. Hammer handily crushed its opponent in round one, but can they repeat that victory? Stay tuned, dear readers.

PRIORITY BRAVO-TWO: The Wing IX Top Gun competition is over. Participation was good, with all Squadrons represented. And the winner is…[drum roll]…Neko! Second place goes to Mosh. Good job, people!

CROSSBOW SQUADRON: COL Doyon still needs FLs before he can open Crossbow. Now I KNOW there are a number of you out there who are capable of the job. Take the chance. You’ll not be hurting your current Squadron by applying...you’ll be doing your part to make Wing IX stronger.

PRIORITY BRAVO-ONE: XWA: The XWA conversion saga continues. No decision has been made yet (at least that I’ve heard about), so that’s something to consider. Currently I’m working on a plan for that conversion that should answer many questions IF the decision is made to convert us to XWA. There’s still much to be worked out, so keep your thoughts and comments coming. I value your opinions, no matter if you’ve been here since Christ was a corporal or if you just pulled in from the Daedalus. It’s been said that the more we listen, the more we understand. Well, I want to listen. If you want to talk, my in-box is always open. And if you catch me on IRC, feel free to query and we’ll chat there.

The WCO for January is over, and we have a winner! Congratulations go out to Hammer Squadron, who held on to the title for a second straight month. Sword came from behind to finish second. February’s WCO has already begun! And don’t forget: Highlander flying and victories DO count for the WCO!

One final note: CHEATING! DON’T DO IT! It’s been proven to cause acne in lab rats, as well as a really bad rash once the chain of command gets done chewing on your backside. It’s also a one-way ticket OUT of Wing IX. We will not cheat, nor tolerate those among us who do.

SQUADRON ACTIVITIES: Both Hammer and Shield squadrons welcomed aboard new sub-lieutenants this past week. Both have started off with a good burst of activity, and we welcome them to the brotherhood of Wing IX with open arms. On a sadder note, most Squadrons also saw people departing for the Reserves.

Sword: Sword is currently involved in a competition with Panther Squadron of the IW. The mission is FT105, and the deadline is February 5. Also flying against Shield in Highlander.

Crossbow: In the process of forming – needs applicants for two FLs

Spear: No current comps

Hammer: Word of a possible comp between Hammer and Thunder of Wing X Currently involved in the Highlander competition.

Shield: Shield is taking on Alpha Squadron of Wing I using TC192. The deadline for this slugfest is February 16. Also flying against Sword in Highlander.

WHAT THE WC’S DOING: This week: Did this report – talked with CMDRs and others – worked on XWA stuff (which took up way too much time) – started working on the Wing Monthly Report
