Well, I'm still feeling achey and cranky fighting the tail end of a bad cold, so I ain't got nuthin' to go here.

Joanna Rake practically vaulted from the swimming pool, using the railing for leverage, water sloughing off her sleek form in sheets. Fenn, sitting at a nearby table, watched her walk towards him in that languid hip rolling stroll that was known to get him aroused at the most inappropriate times. The small tattoo of the winged insect just left of her navel looked iridescent in Herkti III's morning sunlight. She was completely naked and her violet eyes gleamed at the pleasure in Fenn's slate gray ones. Some of her battle scars stood out in stark relief and he realized yet again that either she had been far away from competent enough medical attention to prevent the scarring, or she had chosen not to have the scars cosmetically removed. He suspected a little of both.

Joanna bent over slightly to retrieve a huge bath towel and slowly smiled at Fenn's sharp inhalation. She looked at him and saw his sun-burnished skin was very flushed. He was nearly naked himself except for black thigh-length skinshorts. Joanna dried herself off, put on a thick white robe then plopped herself down in Fenn's lap, draping her arms around his neck. She kissed him on the nose.

"Nice to know I still have that unconscious effect on you."

Fenn chuckled. "Now what makes you think that would ever go away?"

She wriggled slightly in his lap and was pleased by the instant response.

"Here's something you might find amusing," he said, sliding a datapad over so that she could see its screen. His voice didn't skip once.

Joanna leaned back slightly with another subtle wiggle.

"Stop that," Fenn whispered.

"Make me," she replied. Then she laughed. "Now isn't that special."

"Thought you'd get a kick out of that."

"So now I'm officially listed as a legal target for the Emperor's Hammer."

"That's one way of putting it. You and Savannah. That just came through from the Science Office. What's wrong?"

Joanna shook her head sharply. "I recently got word that Del'Rek was killed out in the fringe. Details are sketchy, but apparently one of his enemies finally caught up to him."

"I'm sorry to hear that," Fenn said.

"So it looks like me and Savannah will be the only ones running around the galaxy with capital ship grade weaponry mounted on light transport frames. I'm going to miss that opinionated bastard."

Joanna let her eyes sweep past the patio and swimming pool to the raised circular landing pad. Her CORT Xunrunner sat next to Fenn's TIE Guardian. "He'd come to like you in the end," she said in a quiet voice. "For him that was a 180 degree turnaround."

"I believe it," Fenn said.

The silence stretched for a while, then Joanna kissed Fenn on the throat and whispered near his ear, "I want you to do something for me."

"Anything."

"I want you to pick me up in your arms, carry me inside, and boink my brains out."

Fenn chuckled softly, acutely aware of the heat radiating from Joanna, and said, "I think I can accommodate you."
