WING REPORT #12
Wing IX, ISD Relentless
“The Fighting Ninth”

TIE CORPS NEWS: “Prelude to Andevia” was well-publicized, at least until it began. Now all seems quiet on that front, much like the TO’s “design a bad guy” competition. Wing I also has a new WC.Your WC reports, you decide. For the latest information, check out http://www.tiecorps.org/news.asp.

WING NEWS: We’ve got a fair amount to discuss this time, so let’s get right to it.

PRIORITY ALPHA-ONE: The Battlegroups’ “Highlander” competition has begun! Round One ended this past Tuesday, and now we’re just waiting for the results to be announced.

PRIORITY BRAVO-TWO: The Wing IX Top Gun competition has begun! The mission this time is FT148, and you have until Wednesday to fly it. Sorry this wasn’t announced earlier, but the problems with the IWATS site kept approval waiting… I may extend the deadline if there’s enough interest this time out. Will LCM Dupuy retain the title, or will he be dethroned?

CROSSBOW SQUADRON: COL Doyon of Sword Squadron has been selected as the CMDR of Crossbow Squadron, but we still need two FLs. If you’ve got any interest in serving as an FL in a new Squadron, get in touch with your ever-lovin’ WC or COL Doyon.

PRIORITY BRAVO-ONE: The end of the month draws near, and that means it’s MSE time. I need those MSEs by the first or second of February. CMDRs should use the utility at http://www.isdcolossus.com/relentless to do their MSEs.

PRIORITY BRAVO-ONE: XWA: After my announcement yesterday, I’m sure many of you are still left with questions. Before answering them, I’d like to point out why this was made public. I was asked for my input, and I don’t feel ‘almighty’ enough to speak for all of you without actually hearing what you have to say. One of a leader’s main duties is to express his or her opinions about a plan of action, even if they disagree with a superior. Once a decision is made, however, it is expected that you will support it as if it were your own. And that’s what I intend to do with the XWA proposal, and it’s what I expect each of you to do as well.

That being said, I’m sure most of you are wondering why Wing IX was picked. It’s fairly obvious that the TIE Corps Battlegroups need another XWA Wing. We were selected for possible conversion based on our low numbers and, hopefully, for our professionalism as well. This is still in the planning stages, and may not come to pass. But it’s important that we discuss such a conversion and see what we can learn from the process.

As I currently understand it, Wing IX will be designated as XWA-SP (meaning we will be a Single Player XWA Wing) and any new cadets posted to us would have XWA as their main game platform. It is also assumed that all pilots who wish to stay with the Wing will upgrade to XWA as soon as practical. This is still open for discussion. This does not mean that we would not be able to take part in multi-player events, but it does mean that our focus would remain on single player activities.

Like most things in life, there are pros and cons to such a conversion. What do YOU think they are? You can post to the mailing list, or e-mail me privately. No matter how you do it, I want to hear from each of you about this. This could be the most important event in Wing IX’s history, and as you all are part of that history your voices deserve to be heard. I have my own opinions about this, but I won’t express myself until I hear from the heart and soul of Wing IX: the Flight Members, Flight Leaders, and Squadron Commanders who make this the best damned Wing in the fleet!

Just to clear the air, the Pilot/CMDR/Squadron of Month should be returning to the Relentless very soon.

One final note: CHEATING! DON’T DO IT! It’s been proven to cause acne in lab rats, as well as a really bad rash once the chain of command gets done chewing on your backside. It’s also a one-way ticket OUT of Wing IX. We will not cheat, nor tolerate those among us who do.

SQUADRON ACTIVITIES: With the command changes and all, most of the squadrons have been fairly quiet aside from routine flying duties.

Sword: Thanks to the arrangements of LC Ted, it looks like Sword will be having an outside comp in the near future. Good job, Ted! Thanks to their first round bye, this might be a good way for Sword to get in fighting trim for the second round of Highlander.

Crossbow: In the process of forming – needs applicants for two FLs

Spear: No current comps

Hammer: Word of a possible comp between Hammer and Thunder of Wing X

Shield: No current comps

WHAT THE WC’S DOING: This week: Did this report – talked with CMDRs and others – flew FT188 for the Highlander competition – started FT148 for the Top Gun competition

NOTE: Due to the XWA events and other stuff, the WCO point totals will be updated and released before the end of the month. As it stands, Hammer still has a commanding lead, with Shield doing its best to catch up.

Strength in Unity!

Respectfully submitted,

WC/MAJ Krax Tarnisar/Wing IX/ISD Relentless
