WING REPORT #16
Wing IX, ISD Relentless
“The Fighting Ninth”

TIE CORPS NEWS: Ford’s been promoted to general! Good work, Ford! Other than that, seems to have been a fairly quiet week in the fleet. Your WC reports, you decide. For the latest information, check out http://www.tiecorps.org/news.asp.

WING NEWS: Welcome to all our recent arrivals, including a number of distinguished names from the past of this great ship and Wing.

We’re right at our target of 30, but let’s not stop there. My thanks goes out to each and every one of you for pulling together in the professional way that you have to keep this ship alive. Once again we’ve let other Wings be known for their talking while Wing IX acts! This is something you all can and should be proud of.

Our main priority continues to be recruiting. I don’t want to hear about anyone spamming the Daedalus, but do what you can to get the word out. We have some interesting threads going on the Recruiting Forum. Add to them! For too long people have thought that Wing IX was a hostile, closed place. Let’s prove them wrong!

PRIORITY ALPHA-ONE: MSEs are coming due. I know in the excitement of this month I almost forgot myself. CMDRs, PLEASE make use of the MSE generator at http://www.isdcolossus.com/relentless. It’s a handy tool and makes all our lives easier. Use the comments sections to add any personal details or insights you think are needed. And don’t forget: we need as much detail as possible so that promotion and medal requests can be processed as quickly as OPS allows. A quick note for you new arrivals: pilots on the Relentless are required by ship standing orders to do their own monthly evaluations and send them to their CMDRs. It’s not much – just a paragraph or so saying how you think you did during the month and what you’d like to improve on. It lets us know what you’re thinking and helps us tailor comps and other events that fit your needs. Also, you now get your portion of the MSE back after it’s been processed.

PRIORITY ALPHA-THREE: Since we have a number of new members, I’d like to drone on for a moment about the SSOs. The Relentless and Wing IX have perhaps the most complete (and most military) set of SSOs in the fleet. All the CMDRs have seen them, and agreed with their contents before they were submitted. Now the FO’s approved them, so they’re official. If you need a copy, or have any questions about them, contact your CMDR or me directly. I wrote most of ‘em, so I’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

CROSSBOW SQUADRON: COL Doyon has selected his two FLs, and Crossbow is ready to be opened. In light of recent events, though, this opening will be delayed until the Relentless is officially taken off closing notice. As part of our Stardrifter celebration, we’ll officially open and christen Crossbow once the FO gives his ok. We’ve been too long without our reconnaissance squadron. It will be good to have them back in the hanger bay.

On another note, I know that some of you have mentioned that we don’t talk as much as perhaps we once did on the Wing Mailing List. I’d encourage all of you to use your Squadron lists and the Wing list as often as possible. Even if it’s just to cheer on the Canadian hockey team. Keep it clean, keep it friendly, and have fun! Also, the Message Board over at the TC Message Center is looking a bit neglected. With Sword and Shield involved in a comp, maybe they could post their results (or comments) there…HINT…HINT. We’ve got the means to communicate, and I don’t ever want to hear anyone complaining that they didn’t get the word.

I’d also like to thank LCM Neko publicly for his dedication to the Wing. As many of you know, Neko has been invited to join Praetorian Squadron. This is quite an honor, but Neko asked to remain with the Wing until this closure threat is lifted. His request was generously granted by the Praetorian commander (Loor), and Neko remains with Hammer Squadron until the crisis is over. Neko, you have my thanks and respect for your dedication. Good luck in Praetorian once you finally transfer, and never forget that you’ll always have a home in Wing IX.

One final note: CHEATING! DON’T DO IT! That kind of conduct is beneath the spirit, honor, and dignity of this Wing. It’s also a one-way ticket OUT of Wing IX. We will not cheat, nor tolerate those among us who do.

SQUADRON ACTIVITIES: All Squadrons continue to be more or less active. Sword has welcomed an influx of veterans, and Shield also welcomes transfers as well. Our newest SLs have all been promoted, and are doing very well in their respective squadrons. Flying is back up, which is good. We’ve also had some high scores. Outstanding work! Keep ‘em coming. It’s worth extra WCO points.

Sword: Involved in a wide-ranging comp with Spear Squadron.

Crossbow: Awaiting opening.

Spear: Involved with a training exercise with Sword Squadron. This is an interesting event, and could serve as a model for future competitions.

Hammer: The Hammer vs. Thunder comp is over, and preliminary reports indicated that Hammer was victorious. We still, however, await the official word.

Shield: No current comps, except for Highlander.
