Wing III Report #18 - September 4th, 2001

Introduction
------------------
Whew, it's been almost a month since my last Wing report and even although a big two-week leave was
involved, I feel I got to apologize for not getting something out earlier... Originally I planned to
have the final Summer Bash standings included in this report, but unfortunately these had to be
delayed for various reasons. Therefore I decided to release this Wing report now and try to cover as
many important news as I can.
There we go....

Wing III News
------------------
- Big Sovereign News: After more than four prosperous years our highly respected Commodore has decided
to retire. We wish him all the best will always remember his great attitude and his restless efforts
to improve the Sovereign. FA Kramer, you'll be deeply missed!
RA Proton (previously WC of Wing V) has been named the new SovCOM! Congratulations, your job won't be
easy, but I'm sure you can manage it! :)

- A bulk of new pilots arrived in Wing III! All say hello to SL Max Strykeman (Hey), SL Willow
Whizzkid (Gimel), SL Maw'la (Hey), LT Dirk Fireslinger (Hey) and SL Sam Booker (Gimel)! Please feel
free to spend a few hours in the Wing III cantina to get to know everyone - your first two drinks will
be on me.

- All but the flying category results of the Summer Bash have been emailed out! The following people
won in their categories and recieved an IS-BR for their work: LT Ace Hobbes (Gimel, mission design);
MAJ Jahan Kalar (Aleth, fiction); LT Mordred (Beth, graphics); LT Garces (Daleth, triva and url hunt).
Congratulations!

- LT Garces of Daleth Squadron took the initiative and competed in the Shameless Promotion Competition
organized by the TO, HA Astatine. - He's *won* the Ship Division and earned himself an Iron Star with
a Platinum Ribbon!! Huge congratulations, LT Garces! Here is his entry:

---
I think my ship is the best because there's the necessary disciplinary ambience for a new
sub-lieutenant to behave correctly and understand the importance of being part of the Emperor's Hammer
TIE Fighter Corps. I mean, it's not that Wing and Squadron Commanders are bad people or strict guys.
It's not because of them. It's because of their pets. Yes, you've heard well. Their pets. Only if you'
ve been in this ship you'll know what I'm refering to.

Each Wing Commander has his/her own animal partner, and they are not nice ones. I know specially my
own Wing Commander's pet, Ferret the Wampa. I haven't met him personally yet (fortunately), but I've
seen him lurching around in the corridors more than once. I assure you, the first time it really got
on my nerves. It's not the kind of thing a new sub-lieutenant would forget easily. I won't never
forget it. That kind of thing really teaches you that is better not to commit any wrong move. You
start to be more careful and to follow more obediently your superior's orders. And I think that's a
very important thing recently promoted sub-lieutenant has to learn to begin his career.

Oh, yes, there's also that we are good pilots, the defenders of the flagship of the emperor's hammer,
and good partners, and that kind of thing. But I thought I should remark the thing about the animal
inhabitants of the ship.

Nicely done! :) However, please note that Ferret is a bantha and not a wampa. He was seriously
disappointed that you didn't see the difference and would like to get to know you a bit better - and
the best way to do this is "cage duty"! ;)

- CMDRs! I'm still waiting for some of those MSEs - better get them done ASAP! (or you might end up on
cage duty as well)

- There's been a big wave of cheating issues during the last month with several offenders being
demoted to Sub-Lieutenant and stripped of their position, medals and battle scores. Remember, cheating
is NOT tolerated and you'll be court-marshalled on the very first offense. Simply don't do it -
there's absolutely no need to and cheating is not going to get you anywhere. (You're not exactly sure
what is considered cheating? Visit the TC Cheating Policy at:
http://www.tiecorps.org/tac/tac-man/cheating.html)

- Wing III is now the biggest Wing on the SSSD Sovereign!! I'm very pleased, so keep recruiting!

- CM Var Zoraan has finally solved his email problems and MAJ Jahan Kalar should return from leave
today! Good to have you back!

- Beth Squadron will have a CRT using a free mission starting tomorrow.

- There's been a recent rise of activity on our message board at
http://www.tiecorps.org/mb/view.asp?b=48 ! I highly recommend visiting and posting on it regularly!

- Remember our regular IRC meetings in #wing_iii on Undernet at 6 pm GMT / 1 pm EST every Sunday!

- Wing III's Pilot Archive created by MAJ Osan'gar can be found at
http://www.geocities.com/pilotarchive!

Quotes of the...month
-------------------------------------
"I also ended up as A-WC for two weeks, possibly due to freak Force flows or something, I donno. In
any case, I'll be sort of busy sitting in my office throwing darts at a Han Solo dart board (the
typical duties of a WC) in case anyone wonders why I'm not doing something for them" - MAJ Jahan
Kalar, relaxing 'WC-style'

<<
Cal is drunk after CoL award party :)
it happens but that is the great part of being a vetran (of beth at least) you learn to fly
drunk
>> - remember, don't crash into the Sovereign! We don't want the clean-up crews to be busy the whole
month again! :P

"The five most dangerous things in the Tie Corps are a SL saying, 'I learned this in IWATS', a LCM
saying, 'Trust me Sir', a Commander saying, 'Based on my command experience', a Colonel saying, 'I was
thinking' and a LT chuckling, 'Hey, watch this'." - MAJ Jahan Kalar I think

"This has got to be the weirdest battle I have ever flown. I think the XO has lost it. " - CM Cray
Mikalen after flying TC-TIE #133, the funniest battle ever ;)

"Looking at the dragon in the middle I have to ask ...is your squadron's platform Mortal Kombat???" -
CPT Werdna Elbee talking about Daleth's traditional sign
