WING V REPORT 32

WC/LC Proton reporting on 5-26-01 for Wing V aboard the SSSD Sovereign:

WELCOME

Proton strode through the Wing V section of the Sovereign hangar bay. A couple of TIE repair droids were lounging at a break station, idly chatting and taking long pulls on simulated cigars. Seventy-two TIEs stood silent along the flight line. The wing commander could hear nothing more than the impact of his boots on the deck plating.
He left the hangar and walked past the IWATS cell on the ship. One Wing V pilot, LT Murkrow Defender, was at the front desk picking up his diplomas. No other Wing V pilots were in sight.
Proton next went to Airlock 21. The pulsing beat of Banthan rock music pounded Proton's ears as he entered the cantina. Laughter resounded and liquor flowed. Pilots hit on the wait staff, many of them lurching on their stools, drooling.
No one seemed to notice the wing commander in the noisy cantina. He spoke into his comm unit, then crossed his arms and waited.
A few seconds later, Leroy the jawa and Dude the Tusken raider barged into the cantina. The Tusken grabbed the nearest unfortunate pilot by one leg and one arm and hurled him across the airlock to slam into the bar, sending glass, booze and dishes of Corellian peanuts flying. Leroy screamed, drew his blaster and shot five pilots in the feet. All of the shocked pilots in the airlock dove for cover.
"The party is OVER!" Proton boomed. "The airlock is hereby closed until flight activity and other essential training returns to an acceptable level."
Pilots sheepishly filed out of the cantina toward med stations and the flight simulators.

- It's been really, REALLY quiet around here lately. Looking at the manning numbers of some other wings, they are climbing and we are stuck at 51 (which is great, and the result of lots of hard work, but it can and must get better). We need to boost our activity and get serious about recruiting again!

- Certain Wing V CMDRs have been applying for high posts outside of the wing. I applaud their ambition and know that if and when they do leave the wing, they will achieve greatness in the TC. I just want them to know that regardless of the outcome of these applications, these officers are more than welcome in Wing V now and later!

- ::wc's rant:: Meantime, regarding squadron reports. CMDRs, if your report is not acknowledged or received and read by the WC, it may be because 1) your attachment was unreadable; 2) your attachment was not there at all; 3) your attachment could not be opened; 4) your attachment contained text but was loaded with gibberish also. Do you grasp the theme? ATTACHMENTS! >:( I have asked CMDRs before to send their reports to me as raw text in the body of the e-mail, but this has fallen upon deaf and stubborn ears. I'm plain sick of fighting with your attachments. So, here it is: Go ahead and keep sending me attachments if you must, but don't expect any guarantees that they will be opened and consumed. I'll no longer ask for repeats. Take your chances. ::/wc's rant::

- CM Keiran suffers multiple injuries in a Stormtrooper athletic competition planetside and can't fly any missions right now. Get well soon, Keiran! We're sorry to hear about your mishap(s). :(
