Wing VI Report # 1 (2001-06-12)

This report was submitted by MAJ Jesseb Skyrauch

Greetings Wing VI!
This is WC Jesseb Skyrauch, writing my first WC Report to you.

Let me first say that I am going to do my very best to be the best WC you guys have ever had or will have. I'm devoted, determined, and (fill in another D word) to be here and will value your feedback.

So, let me outline the different things I want to work on with all of you as WC.
First, activity. As you know, flying is an activity, but, it is not the only one. Some of you have encountered the IWATS exams; that is good. Some of you enjoy the message boards very much; also very good. Another easy way to remain active is communication through e-mails and the mailing lists. I implore you all to send e-mail to each other, talk to your commander if you already don't do so. Very importantly, e-mail me, or even IM me at jibs44. I want to get to know you all, something mutually beneficial in that I will know you, and then be able to write you recommendations when you need them. (Which I won't mind doing one bit!)

Of course, my next topic has been shoved down our throats for the past few months...so its my duty to continue it. We need to recruit pilots. If you want this to be a competition, so be it: let's be the largest Wing in the fleet. Go to the Zone, e-mail the Daedalus platform. I want to open the other two squadrons...and if it is of any consequence to you, I will choose those squadron commanders based on your activity and communications, loyalty and dedication to the TC. Those are going to be two highly prized positions...This wing can hold 72 pilots. I want to see 72 pilots sometime in my lifetime, so let's get moving! A note, if you see an AWOL pilot, submit them AWOL, don't have positions filled with people as "filler." We are going to have 72 ACTIVE pilots, so, don't be afraid. An AWOL pilot is not completely your fault.

Something a bit more fun...Competitions. Alright, I admit, I am sometimes a little out of the loop on TIE competitions considering Zeta is TIE and my version won't work on my Win98 or Win2K system. But, it was disturbing to read the e-mail from Wing V stating that we never submitted results. I'm looking to rematch, and kisk some ASS!
Anyone have a competition they would like to fly? Competitions are going to be a major part of your life soon...and you'll be earning medals and respect from them.

How to win a medal: We seem to have lost our website during the problems with EH hosting. Someone who can design us a kick-ass website wanted to design this. I have some nice pics you can use. Creativity is wanted...Any takers?

Also, I will be naming the Wing Commander's Own squadron shortly. Is your squadron top quality?

To all Commanders: Don't forget to write a WEEKLY report, and make sure I get a copy. Also, MSEs are due at the end of the month; make sure I get them by the end of the first week of any new month. I will not be happy to receive ones the second week of the next month. Commanders: it would also help me if you could send me last months MSEs, so I can see what you're up to.

To all Flight Leaders: You have a duty, a duty to your flight members. You were put in your position because of your leadership. Talk to them, make them comfortable, and get those SLs in the right place fast so they can be as productive as any other pilot.

To all Flight Members: You are the most important members of the Wing. Without you, we'd have a bunch of boring officers. You give us the activity, the energy, and all that jazz, to pursue our careers. And you know what, you're the next generation of leaders in the TC.

Because of the short notice of my appointment, I will not include any Squadron news or TC news today. I have to organize a lot of paperwork and get a grip on things.
