WING V REPORT 31

WC/LC Proton reporting on 5-19-01 for Wing V aboard the SSSD Sovereign:

WELCOME

Snippy the military surplus probe droid flitted about the Wing V section of the Sovereign hangar bay, supervising the fevered work of Dude and Leroy. The Tusken raider grunted in exertion as he replaced a torpedo launcher on a missile boat. The feisty jawa cursed in jawaese as he attempted to secure an ion cannon system on a nearby TIE Defender.
All around the L.S.D. Team, Sovereign mechanics and other flight deck personnel rushed to complete a huge maintenance and rearmament workload.
LC Proton observed the frenzied work through a monitor at his battle station on the bridge. He smiled in satisfaction as his personal assistants pitched in to support the pilots of Wing V and their combat craft.
Endless training was the root of a top-quality TIE Corps wing, Proton mused, and with all the competitions going on, all Wing V pilots were bound to improve.

WING NEWS AND STATUS

- RED ALERT! Wing V vs. Wing VI. Fly TC-TIE Battle 171 by May 31. I have not seen a huge flood of BSFs for this so far, although activity has been moderate. Everyone fly it! It's a fun battle, and we need all pilots to contribute to the victory!

- RED ALERT II! We're facing the Infiltrator Wing's Shadow Squadron in a six-week event Second round, Sadhe vs. Shadow: Shadow (7), 535,394; Sadhe (6), 278,611. Shadow leads 2-0. Next up: Samekh vs. Shadow.

- I'm flying against Shadow CMDR/FLT Khaen as a postscript to the ongoing comp. The mission is TC-TIE free 152.

- Upcoming major competitions planned:

- Communications channels. We have dropped the old message board; the official board of Wing V is now the MB in the TIE Corps Message Center. Also, we are trying a new Topica e-mail list, having dropped the unreliable Yahoo Groups list.

- Wing V Trivia Contest! Managed by LCM Dark Viper. Ongoing, awards given quarterly. Quiz 3 in progress.

- Sadhe Flight 2 New Nickname: Birds of Darkness

- The ID's DiploServ is looking for a liaison in each of the TC wings. Interested parties for the Wing V liaison job, contact me. In a related matter: flag officers in the battlegroups torched the poor DiploServ guy who made a simple request to be included in WCs' weekly report distributions; but the Brotherhood of Sovereign Flag Officers sees no harm in this request and has agreed to offer this simple amount of help to a fellow EH organization.

MISCELLANEOUS

- GN Devin and SMS Wil Striker report:
Sovereign Top Gun competition.
Omega Squadron and the Fleet Medical Corps are sponsoring a ship-wide competition to determine who the number one TIE and XWA pilot on the Sov is. All pilots are encouraged to fly either Free TIE #93 or Free XWA #17 and turn it into their CMDRs no later than May 27th. If you have any questions, please contact General Devin.

- FO/FA Priyum Patel reports:
Over the past several months the SSD Avenger has grown dramatically, both in terms of size and activity. This is undoubtedly due to the hard work of not only the pilots onboard, but also the Officers. This success has allowed for a relatively rare event - the opening of a new ISD and Wing! Both myself, and Vice Admiral Firefox decided that the time was right to add this new Ship to the Fleet, so Wing XX and it's parent ship, the ISD Subjugator have been activated. The Subjugator, attached to the Avenger, is a Dark Brotherhood ship - which means that all pilots onboard are also members of the DB.
This opening also brings some changes with it:
Avenger Wings I and II have been renamed to Wings XVIII & XIX respectively.
Although the Subjugator will be an independent ship in terms of everyday function, the new COM will be subordinate to Vice Admiral Firefox in terms of seniority (and hence report to him with important decisions). The COM will also act as his XO and step in as and when needed.
It is important to note that these two ships do NOT form a Battlegroup.
Applications for the new Commodore are now being accepted. The requirements are as follows:
You must have been in the TIE Corps for at least ONE year.
No HCI convictions.
A working knowledge of all Fleet protocols and policies.
Command experience at Wing Commander level or above (the more the better).
Extensive use of IRC.
You must also be a member of the Dark Brotherhood.
All applications should be sent to Vice Admiral Firefox & Fleet Admiral Priyum and they should arrive within the week. Once the new COM is in place, applications for Wing XX WC will be taken, but not until then.

To protect his secret identity, SovMan lives as a
mild-mannered TIE pilot. But when danger or
disrespect threaten the SSSD Sovereign or the EH,
he rushes to a convenient docking bay and
transforms himself into SOVMAN, PROTECTOR OF
JUSTICE, DEFENDER OF HONOR, UPHOLDER OF ORDER AND
POLISHER OF THE AXIAL SUPERLASER!!!
Gentlemen, I would like to invite you to take part
in a competition to design a costume for SovMan,
the Sov's local superhero! Note that this is NOT
a graphics comp: the prettiest picture might win,
but a scanned-in crayon scribbling might win, too.
What we are looking for is the coolest superhero
costume you can develop for SovMan! Costume
should look good in color or B&W.
All officers serving on the SSSD Sovereign are
invited to submit their designs in any form they
prefer. Make an original graphic! Build a clay
model and sent the photo! Edit the attached
preliminary sketch! Sew a costume, dress up as
SovMan, and send us the picture! Paint a RPG
miniature! If you have no scanner, let me know and
I'll send you a mailing address for art or photos
(but you'll have to mail it early to make the deadline!)

inkwolf@earthlink.net. Judging will be carried
out by COM/FA Kramer, myself, and LT Ryan Tribal
of Hey Squadron, originator of the SovMan concept.
Medals have been preapproved by the TO, but given
the reaction of the Ops office to some comps, no
definite promises will be made ahead of time. :)
SovMan can't fight our enemies in the nude (well
he could but it'd be against some regulation I'm
sure) so please get those uniform designs in by
June 15th!
