WING V REPORT 2

WC/MAJ Proton reporting on 11-4-00 for Wing V aboard the SSSD Sovereign:

WELCOME

Major Proton glared at his beautiful assistants, Jaded Strumpet and Candyland, and slammed his TIE Corps flight helmet on the top of his desk. The assistants jumped, frightened.
"GET OUT!" he screamed.
The pair sprinted from the cluttered office, sharing a knowing look revealing that each understood their boss was uncharacteristically enraged ... about what, they were not certain.
The wing commander still was ranting as they left earshot of the office.
"READINESS! READINESS!" he raged.
They glanced at one another again in comprehension. Eleven of 39 Wing V pilots had scored points in the recent wing emergency training exercise ... but it was far from enough for the demanding WC.

- Aside from my disappointment of our results in the October Wing V emergency contest, outstanding general flight activity was seen elsewhere in wing action this week! My inbox is overflowing with approved BSFs.

- Outstanding educational efforts this week. My inbox is flooded with IWATS graduation notices - six alone for CM Andreev Anton!

- CMDRs, make sure all pilots get a copy of this report each week.

- A final word: Squadron commanders, your pilots will not receive their deserved promotions and medals if you do not file your MSEs, file them on time and complete them thoroughly. This is a basic duty of every Wing V CMDR. I will not suffer inactive CMDRs, because they can ruin squadrons. But, do your job and you will be rewarded handsomely, and your squadrons and the entire wing will be better off.

- It appears no Wing V pilots will be receiving medals for the Sovereign League 2000 regular season. My attempts to collect records from the previous CMDR were for naught, and squadron commanders also did not report, with two exceptions -- and no one on those squadrons had flown enough to be eligible. One of our goals in 2001 will be to place several squadrons in the SL playoffs and post many individual awards as well. Note: The SL2K playoffs are expected to begin soon, and a little bird tells me a couple of Wing V squadrons have qualified for battle!

SQUADRON NEWS - GENERAL

- Sadhe Squadron vs. Wing II's Kappa Squadron. Flying TC free mission 134, deadline Nov. 13. Go, Sadhe!

SQUADRON STATUS

- Wing V emergency contest: Fly TC-TIE FREE 127. Eleven of 39 pilots participated. CM Arti was the winner, earning an ISM!

- November flight contest: TBA, pending approval by COM/FA Kramer and th Training Office. Hint: This month's contest will be a full TIE battle. Expect the announcement within a couple of days.

MISCELLANEOUS

- AD Zsinj reports there is a replacement for the Outer Rim nights. It is a comp between the TC and IW, Saturday nights on IRC.

- FM-SCOA/CM Den Darkhill has been selected as CA:SCO.

- The Science Office reports that we now have an XWA ship patch for the I-7 Howlrunner, a craft that's been in the fleet manual for a long time though never had a patch until now. It is now available from the patch archive at the SO.

- New XvT-BoP free missions:
FREE-BoP 6 : Unknown Space: DB-oriented, capture a Rebel Science Platform.
FREE-XvT 28 : Deepspace Recon: ISD Greywolf is performing standard Recon patrol in area X4-K.
FREE-XvT 29 : Defector: A defecting scientist aboard a Rebel Cruiser must be killed.
FREE-XvT 30 : Protect the ISD Predator: The ISD Predator has just been completed and is awaiting its command staff, you have to protect it from any Rebel attack.
FREE-XvT 31 : Warlord's Plunder: Capture a renegade science facility which belongs to Warlord Zarn Kage.

"Honestly, no... I don't care one bit about the SL, I have more important
things to do with my battlegroup. Besides I have recieved no subs from any
flag officers for the latest combat run, whatever it is. As far as I can
tell only Wing X seems to have intrest anyway since they hate everyone on
the Sovereign, the ship which this compeititon is primarily geared twards.
All the other wings, incluidng the one on the ship I used to run, put it as
low priority over all the things they tried to do themselves.
So therefore when you decide to start this up again next year you can leave
the Battlegroups out of it, except if Wing X wants to join in. It is too
long and too demanding of already over-demanded squadrons. If you don't like
it, hey, I can't blame you, I wouldn't in your position either. Still that
is how I feel. If you think I am ruining it for the Battlegroups then, well,
though, it's my command, not yours. I don't recall having any obligation to
