Wing News

Another tough week passed in thinking over the future of the Wing. And unlike the previous one this week we have seen a small yet a good step forward. After speaking in person with some pilots of the Wing I have seen great will and desire to work and be active despite the exams and december parties. Wing VIII may be down in activity but the spirit still lives on and and pilots are really concerned about the future of the Wing and ready to fight for its future. I have received most unusual ideas from the pilots who never have sent me a letter before and tho before the realisation of these I am not in power to announce them I predict an activity jump once all the end of December RL issues will be settled down.

1. First of all I would like to remind you that the first wave of "Santa Colossus's Tales" have begun. Flying Free Tie 119 to your best extent can easily earn you a shiny medal to show it off on a New Year eve. The deadline for the flying phase will be 24th of December ... and don't let Eta collect all the awards on this phase! Its a pretty easy and straight mission of guard n' kill so you probably won't spend more then 20 minutes on flying it. Those interested in tips for flying can contact my XO Troutrooper and if asked good he will spare some flying tips out for you.

2. One hell of an officer and the Wing VIII hotshot who was always "treated with extra care" by one of old Colossus Doctors, the always dedicated and extra loyal Troutrooper was promoted to the rank of Major this week. Lets say congratulation and ask "where is the party TT?" . Currently TT is the only CMDR on the Ship holding such a rank (to say nothing of Iota A-CMDR Steve Strangelove) and he was promoted not because *he served 3 month as CPT*, but because he showed extreme competence and loyalty. He also got a wonder of a squadron and part of credit for this promotion must surely go to all dedicated Eta assassins who are keeping the squadron on the good level. Once again congratulations TT and I wish to see you being promoted to LC when the time comes ... But now you are to go through the major initiation procedure ... Guards! Strap this lad to that table! (... they said it won't be any pain to me back then ...) ;P

3. Battlegroups Colossus Ace title has returned back to Colossus after CPT Lohr Zadash gave it up and BGCOM Jarak returned the title to its previous holder - your trully ;P As of today anyone willing to become should challenge myself (Chei-Ras) for a Free Tie fight. With a little bit of luck and a strong will anyone can become the next champion! (just dont forget to CC BGCOM Jarak when challenging me)

4. And back the Colossus Arena. The place to fully satisfy your ego and earn big medals. Roll onto the Arena homepage : http://www.isdcolossus.com/arena/main.asp and issue a challenge to your ship mate today! Arena has already received the title of "Egobooster" and beleive it really works. Currently Major Troutrooper is leading the Egobooster with 86 egopoints and that means anybody to defeat him will receive these 86 points to add to his current egolevel ;P Participate and be rewarded!

5. With the release of new issue of TC magazine "BattleCry" we have a nice competition knocking on our doors. Named Big Competition this one consist of 4 parts.

1. Flying contest with the possibility to earn a Silver Star medal ! (any platform)

2. Fiction contest with the maximum possible PC for the winner.

3. Graphics contest for those of you who like making twisted and cool images on long cold evenings with a shiny PC for the winner.

4. And finally a mission design contest with PC given for the winner (any platform acepted again).

Pretty nice medals, an excellent chance to let your creation or skill be admired by the whole Fleet, almoust any kind of activity availible in the TC and of cause a good record in your Activity Report. Why not participate and promote yourself and the Wing?

6. Here I'm starting a long forgotten line of WC's advices (aka Doc's advices that were introduced to the Wing a year ago). And today behold the first section ...

"Cantina and Drinking" Advices

1. Know and always remember your own "drinking limit". Don't try to show everybody around that you're a "real imperial pilot" by drinking barrels of alcohol. Such unlimited drinking can lead to brain and stomach disfunctions putting you off duty for some time. Just imagine: sitting on a bed in my Lab, all alone, while your friends fry some rebel fighters ... However this advice can be disregarded by the following categories of pilots:

(a) those who like to drink 'till they drop and then get up fresh as a morning breeze;

(b) SubLieutenants who get a promotion to full Lieutenant. A little explanation is needed here: they can disregard the current advice only during their first promotion party as for there is an old tradition and procedure of *initiation* for fresh Lieutenants (another one thing that makes this ISD a very special place). I won't describe it becouse it is also a surprise ... don't worry - one have to go thru it only once ;)

(c) ex Colossus pilot and a Jedi Hunter today Kayle Bayron. The last time this proud pilot disregarded this advice he have killed a Rebel spy and saved the whole Colossus. However he equally can go as described by the category (a);

(d) those who are drinking Special Advanced Drop-Down Mixture. This exception comes from the fact that the effect of this Mixture differs greately from one pilot to another (I have heard a rumour that there is one pilot aboard this ISD who can drink three Mixtures before passing out ... my personal thanks to the one who will tell me the pilot's name);

2. If you see a bottle, chair or even a table flying from one corner of the room to another please do not stand up. Just cover your head with your hands or put on the helmet or, if there are more than one object in the air, fall down on the floor and protect your body with your table or cantina bartender. Please remember that wounds on your head made by heavy objects are very painfull and could lead to some coordination disfunctions thus putting you on the bed in my Lab until full recovery.

3. The last but the most important cantina advice: Always remember that cantina was set up not for just drinking ... pilots meet their friends here, communicate, play table games, discuss problems, have fun and rest after a hard duty day. So please dont just drink in cantina ... remember it is not alcohol, but your friends who make your life in the Corps so interesting.

LCM Nic Rety (Eta) have completed IWATS Course: mIRC 1 with the Score of 90% !

CMDR Devin McCloud (Omicron) taking a short leave and until he returns all Omicron issues will be sorted out by Omicron XO Anthony Starr.

I do not know how to describe the situation in Mu anymore. Hey bulls, are you all doped and sleeping there? Your CMDR is trying to kick you up, but as I use to say you can lead a horse to the water but you cannot make him drink the water ... You have good pilots within the ranks of the squadron. Nothing in a whole week is too much ...
Pi almoust knocked me out of my feet this week. A pilot who was sent to the reserves due to awol check is up and flying! LT Gold Finger is awake and once CMDR Nivarian will send me the request to bring Finger back onboard Collie I will gladly approve it. Also it has come to my attention that Pi lacks a flightleader and here I would like to remind that should a squadron lack a FL there will be no cadets transferred in the squadron.
Just by the time CMDR Cloud took his leave Omicron looks just like Mu today. Whats up with you heavy killers? Aren't your the Winged Horsemen or your horses are too tired today ... I know you lost a couple of members two weeks ago, but thats not the cause to be that down today. Cloud is trying his best to motivate you and dont let his efforts dissapear in vain ...
Iota, the squadron that normally should be closed is currently open and consists only of two members however both of them are active. Both flying and eager to set a new milestone in Iota history. LT Nashaa made a very nice "wolf" banner this week and with some luck it would be shown on Iota tiecorps profile soon.
Getting a new assassin in their ranks this week Eta continues the run for glory and as CMDR TT said on the tiecorps message center these lads are eager to take on every single medal that is promised for the Wing competition "Santa Colossus's tales" ... will there be another squadron with guts and nerves of steel to show them who's the daddy in the Wing this time?
