1. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that we have our own Polling Center in EH and this week three new polls were added. Visit it and make up your voice. http://polls.squadron.org

2.This week well known pilot Dras Hempor has reached the rank of Archon in FCHG system. 1033 missions flown and 450! victories in online melees. He is a true example of the dedicated pilot and now we are all waiting for who will reach this rank after him.

3. Until monday you will not be able to use competition approval form on the Training Office site due to technical problems ... and once more. Those of you who remember TO competition 5 with flash briefings and debriefing and want that comp to return mail Astatine today and say so! Make one of the ever best comps in the Tie Corps return!

Wing News
-------------------------------------

My second week of being your Wing Commander has passed and the end of the month is coming (i.e. promotion and awarding time). All the week passed in discussing various projects and competition ideas with fine Colossus officers. I must say that these discussions showed to me that we have quite a number of dedicated and mature officers eager to raise Colossus up not only in words but by their deeds.
Saying "we have to raise up activity" won't help if not backed up by some actions ... Reforms cannot be made fast and nothing will work like a magic wand kicking us up and filling our TBAs with pilots from Daedlaus. But if we work together, if we show our initiative and not wait for the others to make something then, remember my words, then slowly but stable we will start ascending to the sky. And when we will reach it we will have to work even harder to keep it.

As one of our pilots said some month ago ... "it is easy to become the best, but hard to stay there" ... Do not wait for your friend, your FL, your CMDR, your WC or your COM to do something ... do not say I cannot because someone else can do that better ... there is always a time and a place to try. And every try you make is noticed and every success is awarded! Awarded not only by medals, glory, respect and honour but also by the new level your own skills.

The craziest ideas usually turns out to be the best plans when executed and brough into life. When you need something, or you feel you want to change something in the flight/squad or wing don't just sit there or transfer out. It is always easy to run away from the problem ... but it doesn't solve the problem itself. Need something ... send a letter to your CMDR, if not satisfied go up to me ... the more we talk the better CMDRs and me know of your needs and the better your life in Wing VIII is!

1. Through out many competition our Wing was engaged in I have learned that we do not lack activity or participation. Sometimes we need skills to prevail and skills doesn't fall from the sky. One has to work hard in order to perfection his skills and become the best. Without the help from already experienced and talented officers such a training can be long and boring. And I am glad to announce that the Colossus Skills School is now opening with two classes.

First is recruiting and Lieutenant Commander Dall Star (dallstar@tl.krakow.pl) will gladly help anyone interested in attracting new cadets onboard. He is currently building a dedicated homepage which can be found at http://republika.pl/colossus_ro/
He has already asked those who are experienced in recruiting to send him the tips you use in order to put them all together but will be glad to help new-to-recruiting pilots as well. Back in Omicron birth he recruited most of the squadron and now is on the quest to recruit a whole wing! However do not think he can do that on his own. Help Star and share the awards to come for heavy recruiting!

Second is Elite Flying Masterclass which is made by Captain Drake (paulintheUK@yahoo.com). Captain has agreed to work personally with those who would like to enhance their flying skills, get highscores and win competitions. He is now adapting a simply mission for training purposes and will also help anyone who will ask him to. Dedicated homepage will be created once there will be interest in this class from the pilots.

Now don't think such classes do not have their effects. I remember some time back in Eta squadron we had a LT who was unable to finish a simple Free Tie mission without ingame cheats. And even with the ingame cheats not every mission was a success for him. So we worked on his training giving him simple training missions and providing him with tips and additional tricks on how to fly. Voila! He has become the most violent pilot in the squadron.

Soon Colossus Skills School will soon have new classes open for everybody to attend. Remember this wont go on your ID line but will give you something more precious than medals and rank ... it will give you a skill, and as you all know a good skilled pilot is worth an ISD (doh ... must have seen that somewhere in Omicron mottoes ;P).

2. Not much changed in the matter of the homepages but it is good to know that some of the CMDRs started to appoint Internet Officers or HTML gurus who will start updating the pages ... so buckle up and prepare for the homepages salute next week. But your WC is not sitting calm ... I'm now working on a homepage where I will give information on possible activities and competitions all over the Fleet. The page is not yet done but you can always test it at http://ras.ehnet.org/

3. Colossus vs Challenge. The scores for flying are finilized and they had 277,119.4, while we had 190,556.2. Not bad taking into consideration Wing X is one of the most fearsome wings in the battlegroups (not for long now ah ;P). We still wait for the Commodores of the respective ship to finilize the results of the fiction part so stay tuned pilots!

4. It looks like Colossus is going to take one Wing after another. Now we are ready to fight two Wings! They are both from Avenger and filled with finest Dark Jedis from the Brotherhood. Battle of Vengeance will show us what is stronger ... the Laser salvo or the Force! The detail will be released once Ari and Firefox settle them down.

5. And with pleasure I announce that next weekend. Starting from Fiday and up to Sunday we will have Rats Extermination Campaign! For those of you who are not familiar with it I will explain. the Wing breaks up into two Forces - Red and Blue - the competition itself is an endurance flying competition. The more missions you fly the more points you get for your Force and the higher the chance for you to earn medals. Each mission flown counts towards one burned Rebel.

OFFICIAL RULES:

1. Competition Runs from 00:01 (GMT) Friday to 00:01 (GMT) Monday. The goal is to fly battles and missions till you drop in order to beat other Force

2. Both Forces must be made up of even numbers.

3. Pilots can select a Force to join (Red or Blue), although they may be moved if the teams are not even.

4. Pilots who are interested must register in advance.

5. Points are awarded for Missions Flown. ! mission = 1 point. So 1 TC TIE Battle of 5 missions will be counted towards 5 points.

6. Team Captains or Admiral or Leader ... bah whatever ... are appointed by Wing Commander from those who will apply for the position.

7. Two Force Captains/Admirals will collect the TFR's and total up the missions flown. Squadron Commanders MUST be CC'd in the mail as the Force Captains/Admirals will NOT do BSFing !!!

8. The daily totals are announced, the top pilot (missions flown) on each side recieves an ISM. However the same person cannot be awarded an ISM more than once during the Extermination campaign. If the same pilot become the top flyer of the day the ISM will go the the second best pilot.

9. The Pilot who overall submits the most missions recieves an PC.

10. At the COM's discretion, if a pilot stands head and shoulders above all other pilots, a BS MAY be awarded (tho must be consulted with Ari before).

11. Any pilot submitting more than 30 missions over the weekend recieves a Commendation of Bravery! That is a one time award but the award everyone must have on their uniform!

12. The results will be announced Monday, the winning team get bragging rights until the next Rats Extermination!!

All the rules and the results will be posted on the official Rats Extermination homepage (will be linked off WC's homepage) in two days from now.

6. Eta vs Omicron. Their first phase is over with Eta in the lead. However Omicron got one more phase to catch up Eta and the final phase where KS and TT will meet eachother in a deadly combat head on head. Make your bets today.

Squadrons summary
-----------------------------------------------------

1. Mu squadron

This week CMDR Talon was on the emergency leave and XO LCM Wagyx took care of the squadron during the week. He started a citations run in the squadron and we all are waiting for the results. Way to go Mu. With the return of Talon I await an activity boost in the squadron ...

2. Pi squadron

This week WSR is not yet submitted. LT Devon Thannier have requested his transfer out of Pi and into Sword onboard Relentless. Transfer was approved by Rel WC Ricaud and myself (after I have asked Devon for the reasons of transfer). I will not comment ont he transfer although I made a note of the reasons. Pi is one of the biggest squadron onboard Colossus these days and I expect a special activity level from them. Once again Jay ... should you need help just drop me a mail.

3. Omicron squadron

Got two new pilots this week and now is as big as Pi is. KS .. this is a big honour for you and high demands as well. Manage your squadron like your own body and perform great deeds in the name of Omicron and Wing VIII ! After having computer problems KS is not yet fully recovered and this exuces his WSR which is not yet sent out (but thats the last time KS). Right now Omicron is debating around the theme of having a title of TopGun in the squadron. As LCM Jague Philu said : "... What better reason to fly battles than to get recognition as one of the best in the squadron? ... " (CMDRs take note of that)

4. Iota squadron

Iota took a well deserved rest after last week's 100% participation in Col vs Chal and beating Tornado into dust. However this week another artistic creation came fromout Iota. this is battle made by Shae Kitane and once it will be approved by the TAC we will all fly it for sure! Lohr Zadash was promoted for his extreme dedication to the squadron and his exellent management. Not every CMDR can ensure 100% activity in the squadron. Lohr keep it up!

5. Eta squadron

After beating up Omicron in phase I there was a huge party in Eta quarters resulted in Eta CMDR TT offering free drinks for a week. LCM Wap Eal was appointed as Eta Executive Officer and started bombarding the squadron with mails showing outstanding communication level. As always the majority of week's TFRs come out from Eta ... LCM Tyler has released his new version of Cantina game ... with such progress soon we will be playng it online ;P
