WC/LC Proton reporting on 3-3-01 for Wing V aboard the SSSD Sovereign:

... "Remember, there's a fine line between stupid and clever." LC Proton ended his weekly address to Wing V personnel and returned swiftly to his quarters.
He signed a top-priority order and instructed his droid, Snippy, to upload it to all pilots' communications gear immediately. The order read: "YELLOW ALERT! All Wing V personnel, commence around-the-clock training exercises. Major competitions upcoming in April and May against Wing II and Wing VI! WE WILL NOT BE DETERRED!" -LC Proton, wing commander.
Proton stalked out to the Wing V hangar area and quickly boarded his personal fighter, T/F Desperate. As his craft jumped out of the Sovereign into space, Proton gunned a couple of long laser blasts at a departing shuttle and buzzed the shuttle cockpit. He saw eyes bulge from the heads of passenger-pilots in the shuttle as the laser fire streaked just centimeters by the shuttle viewports.
Proton radioed the shuttle personnel: "Good luck over in the BG wings, boys. You're going to miss a lot of fighting here, but you are in charge of your own careers." Proton grinned and added, "Those little laser blasts are something to remember us by."

- Wing V February contest: The Heavy-Rocket Rumble has concluded. I will be compiling and judging the entries over the next few days. Results and awards will be announced as soon as I can get it done.

- Wing V March activity. We will be plotting and building a TIE battle. Plot ideas, missions, are being accepted. Participants will be awarded with appropriate medals.

- Upcoming major competitions planned: April, vs. Wing II; May, vs. Wing VI. Everyone in V, get flying! Sharpen your skills!

LucasArts has unveiled plans for the PC 2D Real-Time Strategy game Star Wars Battleground developed by Ensemble Studios, creators the Age of Empires series...most likely to make up for revenues lost from LucasArts' previous RTS lemon, Force Commander. The game is set to be released in Fall 2001.

- TO/HA Astatine reports:
After many months, the EH Ladder is finally online. The ladder features divisions for X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, Jedi Knight and X-Wing Alliance. The ladder is pretty much automated. The only human interaction is the reporting of matches (and signing up, of course). The ladder code takes care of all the score/win/loss/draw incrementing, as well as the ladder displaying code and emailing off the pretty match confirmation emails (which are in colour-coded HTML, to match the colours of each ladder.). Archeology
A team of archaeologists was excavating in Israel when they came upon a cave.
Written across the wall of the cave were the following symbols, in this order
of appearance: A women, a donkey, a shovel, a fish, and a Star of David. It
was considered a unique find, and the writings were said to be at least three
thousand years old. The piece of stone was removed, brought to the museum,
and archaeologists from around the world came to study the ancient symbols.
They held a huge meeting, after months of conferences, to discuss the
meanings of the markings. The president of the society pointed at the first
drawing and said,"This
looks like a woman. We can judge that this race was family oriented and
held women in high esteem."
"You can also tell they were intelligent, as the next symbol resembles a
donkey, so they were smart enough to have animals help them till the
soil."
"The next drawing looks like a shovel of some sort, which means they even
had tools to help them."
"Even further proof of their high intelligence is the fish, which means that
if a famine had hit the earth, whereby the food didn't grow, they would take
to the sea for food."
"The last symbol appears to be the Star of David, which means they were
evidently Hebrews."
The audience applauded enthusiastically. But a little old man stood up, in
the back of the room, and said "Idiots! Hebrew is read from right to left.
It says: Holy Mackerel, Dig the Ass on that Woman!"
