Wing III Report # 15 (2002-02-14)

This report was submitted by LC Jahan Kalar

Greetings Wing III and welcome to another Wing report. I'm going to have to make this one quick because I need my beauty sleep (and badly), but I didn't want to keep you guys waiting any longer. So here goes, fasten your seatbelts (yes, there will be some humor like I promised).

Position Changes and Promotions
Commander Eriond Kath'Razzit has been promoted to Gimel Commander after the dissapointing disapearance of Commander Nashaa KamBuel. Let's see if we can make this the last new commander in a while, huh guys. But drinks are on Eriond!
Commander Kalve Ryder has joined Daleth Squadron. Excellent, welcome to the party commander!
Bad news :( Captain Cray Mikalen has been transfered to the reserves. We'll miss you!
More bad news, Lieutenant Colonel Sequoh Marden, friend, mentor, former Wing Commander, has decided to take a break in the reserves.
Even more bad news, LCM Psylocke has moved to the reserves also.
Good news :) We have a new pilot, say hello to SL Low! Hopefully many more will be following, we need more fresh meat, er, pilots.
Medals
LT Linoge has been awarded an ISM.
CM Kalve Ryder has been awarded an ISM for helping out in Daleth including making a banner for the website.
Commander Ace Hobbes has been awarded an IS-BW winning a Beth competition.
CM Eriond Kath'Razzit has been awarded an MoI for helping SL Low.
IWATS
CM Arcanian Stirner has completed the TM course.
CM Kalve Ryder has completed the IIC/3 course.
LCM Alhana Creed has completed TM.
LT Maw'la has completed the TT course.
CM Eriond Kath'Razzit has completed the RT and XTT courses.
Orders
Fly for the NYX Round 3. That's XWA-TC #26 by the 22nd of February, pilot files sent to me.
Participate in the trivia competition run by Commander Stirner.
Recruit everyone you know that might want to join Wing III, we need more pilots so I can feel all good and warm inside, and that means good things for you all.
Take IWATS courses, participate in your squadrons internal competitions, do things to help out your squadron commander. Just be a good officer and make the Wing a better place for all of us.
Other News
The NYX is having a little trouble what with the Wing Commander having less than a large amount of time to devote to it. But fear not, by the 4th round it should be back on track.
Be sure to read the official Tie Corps and EH news on the respective sites, all the important stuff is there.
Hey Squadron is running a "Who is Active?" Competition to find out...well...who's active.
Commander Stirner has a trivia competition going on, and excellent opportunity for those of you that aren't exactly into flying as much.
Wing3.net Server Stuff
Beth, Aleth, and Gimel and soon Daleth have their webpages on the Wing3.net server. It seems to be working pretty well, let me know if anything doesn't seem to work so I can try and get it to do what it's supposed to do.
CRT Scores
Aleth: NA
Beth: 0
Gimel: NA
Daleth: NA
Hey: 5
How to Be a Successful Tie Corps Pilot and Do Nothing
Being a pilot is hard work, and sometimes you just want to get by with doing nothing. But Wing Commanders and Squadron Commander have a funny way of finding out when you're slacking off. So here's my patented guide on how to get away with doing nothing that I've figured out in my years here. Warning, I really wouldn't try any of this stuff. I don't think your commander would be too amused.
If your commander asks why you haven't completed your mission yet, many pilots would be uncertain and allow themselves to get latrine duty. But a better response would be to announce that you are on an important job from an Admiral that doesn't like to be bothered. Your commander won't want to ask the Admiral, so you're in the clear.
Sleep is often lost for pilots, but you can get plenty of sleep by learning how to slip into the briefing room late. Just create a small diversion (rodents are always good for this), and slip into the room unnoticed.
Meetings with superior officers can drag on for hours if you try and win the argument. That is of course impossible, so learn the key phrases to deal with superior officers. "Yes Sir, I'll get right on that." is always a good one, officers rarely remember what they tell people (sshhh, don't tell anyone), so they probably won't remember to check up on what you're doing.
Other pilots will often try and corner you and ask you annoying questions, or your commander might try and get you to do some real work when you go from one place to another. To avoid this, carry a clipboard and walk quickly down the hall like you have somewhere important to go, no one will stop you. Keep this up whenever possible. You can always tell people that, yes, you did have a meeting in the bathroom.
At some point you will have to fly in combat, so try and avoid the mistake of jumping right into the fight. Remember, the nail that sticks up gets the hammer. Shoot a lot, and miss a lot. The enemy will ignore you and go for the goody-goody nailing everyone.
The worst thing for a pilot is to have to talk with an Admiral, and you'll have to eventually, because they love to talk, it's their job. Drugs are good way of making this meeting better. However, be aware that strong drugs may be needed. I suggest nerve gas.
That's all for now...until next time, shoot straight and faster than they do.
