Wing III Report # 7 (2001-11-27)

This report was submitted by LC Jahan Kalar

Greetings and welcome to another Wing III Weekly Report. Some stuff happened, but not nearly as much as I think could (and should) happen. More on that later. But I got back from Thanksgiving, and I hope all of you who celebrated Turkey Day had a good time, I know I did. Also, the Wing III website seems to be having some problems. Not sure what the issue is, but the site isn't working for some people. But I'll figure it out. And speaking of the Wing III website, I'm making some changes, so expect those soon.

Position Changes and Promotions
Dierdre Varn of Aleth Squadron has been promoted to LCM for her hard work and dedication to her squadron and the Wing. Ready to buy us all drinks Dierdre?
Kash Kadan has been promoted to LCM. Even more drinks!
Linoge has been promoted to LT. What I said above.
Daleth has a new pilot, an old Wing III pilot by the name of CPT Egg'Foo. I suspect most of you came after the Captain, but I vagualy remember a cheerful Brit that could down his share of drinks. Welcome back!
LT Craydon Bash of Beth was declared MIA.
Aleth Squadron has a new pilot, everyone say hello to SL Eckton Azori. This means that Aleth is still the largest squadron in the Wing, but I have a little incentive for the rest of you to recruit, recruit, recruit. More on that later.
LT Fiev Nunb was declared AWOL.

Wing III News
Round 3 of the Mascot Power Battles (graphics) is still going on. Create a graphic no larger than 800 x 600 that includes the Sov or a Macot (preferably Wing III's mascot, see me if you need to know more about our mascot). Submit to Colonel Sickman ASAP.
Fly battles for the FCHG comp that ends January 5th. Wing III is going strong, I bet we can win if we put our minds to it. Plus you can hone your skills at flying while making Wing III look good.
Gimel has a new homepage at http://strony.wp.pl/wp/gimelsquadron
Here are the FCHG ranking as of the 25th. I submitted a whole lot of BSFs for Wing III today though.
Wing IV: 79 (take it easy there)
Wing VI: 47 (fast increase there)
Wing III: 38
Wing II: 26
Wing V: 15
Wing I: 12
Hey has a new homepage at http://www.geocities.com/lcmtvanoris
After I came back from vacation, my e-mail was a little strange. So if you sent me something and I haven't gotten back to you about it, assume that it disappeared into the nether regions of cyberspace, and please send it again. Thanks. The problem should be cleared up now, but anything you sent me over the past week may or may not have reached me.
Wing Commander Honor Guard
So, I've heard a lot of talk lately in certain places that certain squadrons are better than others. But up until now, such talk was just speculation. That got me thinking, since I am the Wing Commander and all, I should probably have a Honor Guard Squadron to escort my ship around when I go on vacation and things of that nature. And thus was born the Wing Commander Honor Guard ongoing competition. The idea is simple, whenever you fly a battle, write a story, participate in a competition, hold a competition, win a competition, your squadron gets a certain number of WCHG points. I'll release the official point scale once I have it finished, but the basic idea is that anything you or your squadron does that are activities can get your squadron points. I'll periodicly post a squadrons overall WCHG points divided by number of pilots to get a squadron WCHG score. At the end of each month (starting in December) the squadron with the highest score gets to be the Wing Commander Honor Guard for the following month. This means that you have official bragging rights (Aleth and Gimel listen closely) and the right to put Wing III Wing Commander Honor Guard in your ID line and on your squadron webpage. Expect to hear even more about this (plus a point scale) before December 1st.
Other Stuff
I'd like to stop for a moment and think about the men and women of the United States armed forces that will not be home for the holidays because they are putting their lives on the line for the rest of us. It takes the best kind of person to risk everything for people you have never met. If you live in the US, Circuit City is letting you record messages for US Armed Forces to send them over the holidays for free, and if you feel as I do about our men and women in uniform, just stop by any Circuit City store and ask about their Message From America program.
The only truly good person is one who, if they could get away with anything, would live the same way they do now.
That's all for now...until next time, shoot straight and faster than they do.
