WING REPORT #18
Wing IX, ISD Relentless
“The Fighting Ninth”

Sorry this one’s a bit a late. RL decided Sunday to grab me by the nose and kick me in the ass, and it hasn’t let go yet.

TIE CORPS NEWS: Lots going on in the TC after a period of inactivity. The TC database has moved to the emperorshammer server, and some bugs are still being worked out. This includes the BSF portion of the database, which can no longer accept zipped files. It may be able to do this in the future, but for now PLEASE don’t send me any zipped tfrs. Torran Dan stepped down as COM of the Intrepid. Good luck, TD! He’s been replaced by his WC, Darksaber. Promotions galore, including a bunch of Sov WCs and our own BGCOM. Congratulations Admiral Mell! Your WC reports, you decide. For the latest information, check out http://www.tiecorps.org/news.asp.

WING NEWS: I’m happy to report that our numbers continue to increase. Sadly, we’ve also had to say goodbye to some people. Among them was our very own Anna Fox, who had to move to the Reserves due to some sudden RL complications not of her own making. She was a real spark plug for Shield Squadron, and I’m sure Mosh and his pilots will miss her vocal presence. Every Squadron should have someone with her fire and willingness to communicate. Luckily, Shield has a number of officers who can step into her shoes.

I’d also like to remind CMDRs to look over the Support Officer positions in the SSOs and make as much use of them as they can. Using SUPOs can really cut down on your workload, and it gives promising and active people something worthwhile to do for their Squadron. I expect each of you to have an XO, who can also act as a kind of recruiting officer. If this last flap has shown us anything it’s that we need to be more aware of recruiting. Your recruiting specialist can be anyone: a seasoned veteran or eager newcomer. One more thing: being a SUPO looks very good when it comes time for promotions, as it shows that you’ve got initiative and a willingness to do what you can to improve your Squadron and your Wing.

The COM and I are working on some Wing-on-Wing challenges for us in the coming month. CMDRs, if you could, let me know in advance of any comps you’ve got arranged. That way we’ll be able to schedule things without overloading anyone.

CROSSBOW SQUADRON: COL Doyon has selected his two FLs, and Crossbow is ready to be opened. In light of recent events, though, this opening will be delayed until the Relentless is officially taken off closing notice. As part of our Stardrifter celebration, we’ll officially open and christen Crossbow once the FO gives his ok. We’ve been too long without our reconnaissance squadron. It will be good to have them back in the hanger bay. Look for this to go up the chain by the end of this week.

The run-on continues to grow, with fights in space and the corridors of the Relentless herself. So far most of the Squadrons have chimed in, although I’m still fighting my way to the hanger deck to see what’s become of Spear Squadron. This one’s looking good enough that we might want to consider compiling it and submitting it to the EH newsletter.

One final note: CHEATING! DON’T DO IT! That kind of conduct is beneath the spirit, honor, and dignity of this Wing. It’s also a one-way ticket OUT of Wing IX. We will not cheat, nor tolerate those among us who do.

SQUADRON ACTIVITIES: All Squadrons continue to be more or less active. Sword has welcomed an influx of veterans, and Shield also welcomes transfers as well. Our newest SLs have all been promoted, and are doing very well in their respective squadrons. Flying is back up, which is good. We’ve also had some high scores. Outstanding work! Keep ‘em coming. It’s worth extra WCO points. And now that we’re up to strength, how about some comps?

Sword: Working on a Top Gun.

Crossbow: Awaiting opening.

Spear: CM Neko has assumed command of Spear, and already has them involved in a Top Gun competition. He’s a fine officer, and I look for great things from Spear under his aggressive leadership.

Hammer: No current comps. Won the WCO for a hat trick after defeating Thunder in a competition.

Shield: Engaged in a competition with Yod Squadron.
