Wing XIII Report # 9 (2002-05-19)

This report was submitted by LC Wes Janson

<<SALUTE>>
**CMDRs: Forward this to your pilots as I'm not sure who's on the mailing list and who isn't! Ask your Squadrons who ISN'T on the list and send me names and e-mails!!**

A'ight, this is a VERY important report guys for a couple of reasons. Number 1, we have some small changes coming into effect (this includes a "new" report schedule). Number 2, I'm going to outline some plans for the Grey Wolf - including a new type of SpecOps dealy. :) So read it through, all the way, and digest everything.

(Fiction Supplied by : Major Hev Randrowan)
8:00 aboard the Grey Wolf....
"Jeez, crappy head-ache...." Devin lifted his body out of the bed, scratched his belly and tried not to think of
the pain in his head... He stretched his arms and suddenly, a pain struck his neck."Youw... wazzat..." His neck was stiff
like a armor plate of his GUN. He decided to see Wes bout that.

As he arrived at Wes' office, he stumbled into a long queue of people, all complaining bout hurting necks...

Wes opened his books of medical wisdom, but no answer was available. All pilots complaining bout stiff necks out of unknown reasons. He sat down on his bed , thinking bout this medical enigma as his look fell on his mattress. No pillow. He stormed some pilot bunks and came to the same result, all pillows were gone... That reminded him of something, something he only knew too good. But what. He was just digging a way through the group of pilots in front of his office as a cry of anguish and fear arrested his attention. There it was, standing at the end of the corridor, a person in a dark cloak, holding pillows under his arms and laughing. What was this...

Kodiak jumped up, his face strained of fear and terror, stuttering "GUN..., GUN..., GUN...,".
Woobee turned his head towards Kodiak and asked "GUN?".
Toomas Banys stepped in front of Wes, quickly shaking his hand crying "GUN! GUN! GUN!"

Kodiak finally managed to complete his word "GUNGAN!"

The crowd turned into a stampede, quickly fleeing down the corridor, far away from the dark hooded creature that now closes up to Wes.

Wes cleaned his throat "You again? Well, what you want..."
Silence...
Hev replied "All you pill... err.... I wanted to apply for Vortex CMDR..., SIR".
Hev dropped the pillows and did a quick salute.
Wes did one step to the left "I hope you enjoyed your stay with ... Tornado..."
Hev giggled, suddenly stopped and responses "Only one third of the potential the Grey Wolf is holding.... Now, what you think of my application."

Wes shuffled some dust from his right shoulder "We are looking up to it..."
Hev giggled again, then turned around murmured a "You won't regret..." as he walked down the corridor but suddenly stopped as he heard the sound of a Blaster loading from stun to kill behind him. Wes was standing there, good aim on him "You know, I hate sleeping without pillow".
Silence...
Hev revealed a pillow under his cloak and throws it to Wes "I think that will compensate..."
Wes checked it. It was a plue pillow with golden writing on it, definitely not his own. It was far more cozy and fluffy. He read the writing, Vitcarp it said. Wes stuttered... "Hev, that's unique , you really want to..." Hev was gone and the sound of screams coming up the corridor told him where he went... again on his hunt for pillows, coffee. lotsa nifty stuff and female ensigns...

Wes returned to his bed. "Looks like we get some normality in here again..."

-=News=-

1) SCIV is still on! Except we're going to have a little change of plans... it's agreed that we aren't doing anywhere near as well as we should be or we need to be, and thus we don't stand a very good chance of winning. Thats life, right? We've got three of these things under our belts already - but for now, we need to work on a few things (such as our SL/LT complement... why so many LTs?).
What I'm trying to say guys, is that SCIV isn't a high priority for us anymore. Right now, we've realized just that we don't have a very good shot at winning this one so we need to break off and work some stuff out here. Basically, take some time off and relax for a while guys - we'll be back with stronger stuff and a much more active newblood next time around. :)

2) New Proposal - Grey Wolf SpecOps!
This idea is somewhat new for us. From now on out, you will hear mention of Wolf Squadron, the Grey Wolf's newest UNNOFFICIAL (IE - Not on the Roster :P) Squadron. The purpose? To bring together our twelve best SP and MP persons, to form our "Elite 12," to which we will send out in Squadron competitions and lay some serious smackdown. :) The current breakdown:
Flight 1 - XWA
Flight 2 - XvT
Flight 3 - JK/JK2
(Note: This is subject to change upon review)
    How to join, you ask?
Phase 1:
Flight 2 - XvT Flight - Everyone fly XvT-TC 5 and get it to me/your CMDR for BSFing. Even if you've already flown it - this will show your prowess as a SP pilot.
Flight 1 - XWA Flight - Fly XWA-CAB 1 and get it to me for Friday - same as above.
Flight 3 - JK/JK2 Flight - I can either start a ladder for you guys, or you can send me a sceenshot of the MP score page in JK/JK2 with the scores, kills, deaths, etc. Tell me which you'd rather do. After one week or so of competition, the four highest winning members will join Flight 3.
NOTE: Two people will make each flight via the SP listed above.

Phase 2: MP. The other two slots in the Flights consist of the two most active MPers in that platform (Flight 3 {JK/JK2} excluded) - assuming we see alot of MP activity. Joining Wolf Squadron means that you're one of the best of 50 on the ship with your platform... so be active in MP! And that doesn't mean you have to win either, just participate. After that, we'll start winning more and more.
If anyone wants clarification, please e-mail me. :)

3) Secondary Position Proposal.
I spent up around five or six hours yesterday drawing out position badges for all of us - meaning, those that would be seen as members of a real ship. So I have communications, command, ground forces, SpecOps, Second in Command, Shields, Engineer, Medical, etc. So once I finish scanning them all - I plan to color them, and try to get them 3D-ified... then we can put them on webpages or so on, and use them in Run Ons and the like. How it would generally work would be that each member would choose one of the many fields I have drawn up, and be assigned to it. From there, they'd pull "double shifts" for Run On purposes (EX - As a pilot of the Wing, as well as a communications specialist). So the prelim drawings are nearly complete. As with before - if you want/need clarification, e-mail me.

4) "New" report schedule!
This was one of the suggestions that was submitted to me by a trusted advisor. As you may well have noticed, I do my reports biweekly. So once every two weeks, for those weak of brain power. ;)
However, from my CMDRs, I'd like to see them weekly. BUT! This doesn't mean you NEED to get them in Friday night, or you'll die. I want a quality WSR over a stock standard empty one. Take the time you need on it, and send it out when it's good and ready. (Take the weekend, if you need it). If you choose to, you may consider doing them biweekly as well - HOWEVER!!!!! doing it biweekly means I EXPECT a report on my desk every second weekend - miss too many of these, and you'll be fired - Not unreasonable, as you have two weeks and a weekend to do it.

5) Suggestions
I want this ship to be a little more open. The same policy I had as Phoenix CMDR still applies - My door is open to anyone and everyone on the ship. If you have a problem, dammit don't keep it to yourself. If you have a suggestion, again - come and talk to me. You can catch me on IRC ALOT as LC_Janson, or via e-mail. This is your ship as much as it is Az's and mine, so feel free to suggest things. If you have a ship wide competition or program you want to run, come and talk to me! I'll help you get it off the ground! Got it? :)

6) Grey Wolf Combat Academy, anyone?
Some of the older guys'll remember this idea... composed by myself, and several others one day while we were bored on IRC it was designed as a way to help each member on the ship get better as an MP pilot. So should we reopen it? Wolf Squadron would be the instructors this time, whereas entry will be open on a 1 on 1 basis (so no more than 8 or 12 students per "class"). We'll need a website, so anyone out there with mad skillz for programming, contact me and I'll tell you what we need.
I'd like to get the Grey Wolf website back to life, so I'll see if I can get that stuff from Khadgar or whoever would have the stuff.

7) Vortex Squadron CMDR!
As I'm sure anyone who bothers to keep an eye on the Roster has noticed, Vortex Squadron is without a CMDR as Mantis was forced to resign due to HEAVY RL commitments. However, do not apply - as we already have our man. Everyone give a warm welcome [back] to the newest old member of the ship and new CMDR..... MAJOR HEV RANDROWAN! YAY! :) Congrats, Hev.

**Good week here guys! Nice work! :) **

-=Final Thoughts=-

Squadron CMDRs - I want you (for fun. :P) to pick an official Squadron color. This color will be painted on your fighters on the trim, so as to ID you as a Grey Wolf pilot, and which Squadron. For example, I know Phoenix Squadron's primaries are Blue, red, and black. So it's something for fun, for us to use in fictions and so on... plus it lets me color code everyones names in my Reports so as it makes it easier to know where everyone who was awarded something is. :P
Second - keep in mind, reread, digest, memorize the stuff that I mentioned about Wolf Squadron, the new report schedule, and the GWCA. I'd like to see this stuff fly.
I want to apologize myself for my poor leadership lately. I forgot that fun is the main reason why we're here, and I tried to press you guys hard. Times are changing as of now. We're going to have more fun on this ship, so I want your input. Always, from here on out. This is your ship too, guys. :)

I'll release the Secondary position pins Draft 1 later today. And if I can get the 3D-ifying sorted out and understood, I'll have the final drafts out to you all shortly. I would like your guys feedback on them, as I would really like to use them. That would give us a little more to work with into our characters and so on, and a boost in the Run Ons as we would all have more to do than just sitting in the barracks or Cantina. There will be a full explanation with the pins, as to limitations and so on. :)

Right guys! Thats it for me for this week! Have a great week guys and have some fun, eh? :)

Thanks,
Lieutenant Colonel Wes Janson
