SIN CMDR: MAJ Hav Antiel REPORT DATE: 26 November 2017 |

A few weeks ago, I was playing the X-Wing Miniatures game with some Thankfully, there's a fantastic website that does all of the work for you. Granted, the website is written in French, but it's pretty straightforward, even for a guy like me who only speaks Basic. Custom X-Wing Miniatures Pilot Card I decided to start off with my personal pilot card profile. I made some small changes:
For my special ability, I borrowed the one on Kyle Katarn's card. This gives me the ability to aid friendly ships in my vicinity, which seems like an appropriate skill for a squadron commander. I considered using Keyan Farlander's ability ('When attacking, you may remove 1 stress token to change all of your focus results to hit results'), but I'll save that for another pilot. Missile Boat Specifications Because the Missile Boat doesn't exist for the X-Wing Miniatures (or at least hasn't been sold yet), I had to get creative with the craft specifications. Initially, I copied the details from the TIE Advanced x1, but then I stumbled upon some detailed back-and-forth on one of the X-Wing Miniatures discussion boards regarding the Missile Boat. With its single laser, the Missile Boat rolls only a single attack die on each turn, but it makes up for that with five upgrade slots: two missiles, two proton torpedoes, and one systems upgrade (plus the Elite Pilot slot by nature of my humble piloting skills). I know what you're thinking: Isn't that overkill? But that's the name of the game with the Missile Boat, isn't it? |

I'm almost finished flying through the TIE Fighter: Dark Brotherhood battles, and I have to admit that I'm excited to put them behind me. The stories are engrossing and the tone has been unique, but for the purposes that I've been flying -- trying to get through each mission as quickly as possible -- the DB missions have not been my favorite. Part of the challenge is that the DB missions lack primary objectives, and you have to complete every secondary objective to finish the mission. This can be especially difficult when the objectives include things like destroying 100% of multi-wave fighters or identifying every craft in a wave that's trying to hyper out. However, one thing that has really stood out in these battles so far has been the clever nature of some of the missions. I won't spoil anything, but there have been several missions that I had to refly multiple times to try to figure out the right order of destroying craft or waiting for a cap ship to hyper in and target it with the tractor beam to help it crash into an 'indestructible' station. Fun stuff, but not the best for knock-'em-down flying.
