TACTICAL OFFICER RESIGNS

Today, Tactical officer High Admiral Striker resigned from his position. Here's what he had to say..

 

Greetings,

 

It has been several months now my performance as Tactical Officer has been degraded due to a new time-consuming RL job; I guess time has also lessened my enthusiasm to assume the position, with nearly 20 months overall of service as Tactical Officer, and three years and half of full time positions within the Tactical Office. During all these prosperous years, I have participated and directed all the changes I was willing to be done within this office, changes which have transformed an office dependent of the TAC's personality into an organized structure where team work has become a key word. I am proud of what has become the Tactical Office, but I guess it is becoming time to see some fresh blood at the head of this office, assuming also the fact that I can hardly assume the associated work load with my current situation.

 

I had planned to resign in past September when my new job began, with the eh.net server problem I delayed this decision to wait for the database to be fully operational, to not bring additional mess to an already troubled situation. The BSF system and associated FTP services are nearly fully working, and I will leave my position of Tactical Officer as soon as everything is working, and as soon as you have selected the future Tactical Officer. I do not plan to leave the EH, I guess I will continue my career in a less time-demanding position, where my competences and expertise can help the EH...

Attack of the Clones available - SA Astatine [jpboyce@indigo.net.au]
Attack of the Clones is now available. You can get it on DVD widescreen, DVD fullscreen or VHS. The DVD is a two-disc set with the usual fluff you get on those sorts of things.

Due some mysterious Problems with the Database, there weren't sent out any confermation Mails about the LoC's for following Comps:

COMMAND CHANGES

 

We've seen a lot of command changes over the last month or so. Here is a basic rundown of what has happened.

 

Last week, Jade Falcon resigned from his position as Sword commander, Following advice from several sources, I appointed Ted as Sword's new Commander. What you guys are getting is a vastly experienced officer and a veteran of the wing. I have the utmost confidence in his abilities to turn around Sword's fortunes.

 

A few days previous to that saw another command change. Jacob van Nowak obviously had a few problems getting in contact with me and was removed from his position as Crossbow Commander. His replacement is a bit of a steal for us, Mark Schueler is another vastly experienced, extremely active and dedicated individual who some of you will know. What you think you know about him is wrong, I've worked with him for a couple of years now and he's a great guy.

 

With the drop in numbers, I made the hard decision to close Spear squadron. I understand that this squadron has a lot of history and a lot of you are sorry to see it close. So, here's a target for you... Get the wing up to 30 members and i'll open it again. Right now, spreading our numbers out leaves us thin on the ground, closing Spear is the only logical thing that could have been done.

 

Hammer Squadron remain the only squadron aboard that are untouched by command changes, but they have seen a change in their pilot make-up. Tycho Ackbar is already showing a lot of potential to me...

 

Finally, Shield's commander is a bit of a surprise. DragonXX appeared on IRC one day and asked me if he could apply for the position. He then proceeded to write the best application for a commander position I have ever seen. I appointed him as A-CMDR of Shield, a week later making it offical.

 

So there is a basic run-down of the new command team on the Relentless. A blend of youth and experience. Should work well :)

X ACCESS FOR COMMANDERS AND FLIGHT LEADERS

Now a few of you probably don't know this but if you hold a commander position or a flight leaders one, you can get access to X on #ISD_Relentless. All you need to do is catch me online, (which isn't hard, you've got the most active IRC Flaggie in the fleet :P) Give me an X username and I'll sort the rest out. Commanders have a default channel mode of OP and Flight Leaders get VOICE.

MESSAGE BOARDS

The demise of the TC Database has meant that all message boards that were hosted there are lost. If your squadron has one on EMPERORSHAMMER.NET, You need to sign up for a new one on the EHNET FORUMS as soon as possible. This can be done through the Internet Officer, Ari. Furthermore, the main ships message board has moved to HERE.

This is a permenant move. Emperorshammer.net will no longer host message boards, ever. We have to move with the times.

DATABASE

Talking of the database, Apparently it is fully operation and will accept everything EXCEPT UNIFORMS. Do not attempt to upload a uniform if you value your life, Astatine will gladly take it from you. This is fine and dandy but now the mailer system is broken so I have no idea of who is doing what. As you will see in the months to come, knowing what everyone is doing is vitally important. Commanders, If you do a BSF please mail me the details of that BSF, particularly how many missions were flown so I can calculate who needs what medals.

COMPETITIONS

Many of you have asked for a competition, I am working on doing a pairs competition where teams of two fight it out across the ship. This sounds simple but is infact quite tricky, so bear with me.

In the mean time, watch the Egroup for announcements on events coming up on the ship. Feel free to reply too. This is a friendly ship after all :)

MEDAL REWARDS STRUCTURE

Here is where you'll witness why I need the database fully operational so badly. As started on the Colossus to great effect, your all soon going to be able to get medals with ease. This isn't devaluing the things, it's giving you targets to aim for. As I will show below..

20-39 Missions in a week gets you an Imperial Security Medal!! (that's the equivilant of three missions a day...)

40-79 Missions in a week gets you an Palpatine Crescent!! (that's the equivilant of six missions a day...)

80+ Missions in a week gets you an Bronze Star!! (that's the equivilant of twelve missions a day...)

These targets are VERY easy to get on purpose. Wing VIII now has some of the highest-decorated officers in the fleet. They are determined, self-motivated and will do pretty much anything you ask of them. That's what I want here. I don't particularly care if you fly with ingame cheats on, whether you fly XWA, XvT or TIE, The point is you fly, you enjoy yourself and you get rewarded.

Also, There is a number of long-term goals for you...

100 FCHG Points gets you an Imperial Security Medal!!

250 FCHG Points gets you an Palpatine Crescent!!

500 FCHG Points gets you an Bronze Star!!

 

5 IWATS courses passed gets you an Imperial Security Medal!!

10 IWATS courses passed gets you an Palpatine Crescent!!

15 IWATS courses passed gets you an Bronze Star!!

 

NOTE: ALL OTHER FORMS OF ACTIVITY; MISSION CREATION, GRAPHICS, FICTION SUBMISSIONS ETC.. WILL BE JUDGED SEPERATELY ON MERIT FOR YOUR MSE'S

 

So what does this mean? It means my friends that if a cadet comes aboard this ship, flies his arse off and does a load of IWATS courses in his first week, it is entirely possible at the end of that week he would have FOUR brand new medals (ISM for 100 FCHG, ISM for 5 IWATS, CoB for 30 Missions, BS for 80+ Missions) plus a promotion to Lieutenant in his first week aboard. Can't be bad..

I expect the best.. but you know what.. I give the best too :)

All awards for targets CANNOT be given retroactively I'm afraid, before you ask. Sorry.
