SIN CMDR: MAJ Hav Antiel REPORT DATE: 22 October 2017 |
|
You might not know this, but your humble CMDR is a longtime fan of Formula 1 racing. I've always loved the incredible sense of speed, the unique layouts of each circuit, and the cutting-edge technology of each constructor's bespoke racer. This afternoon, I got to watch my home race, the United States Grand Prix, live from the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas (OK, I wasn't actually there in person, but it's one of the few races that is shown on broadcast television). I won't spoil the result for anyone who didn't watch the race yet, but it got me to thinking... If Each TC Squadron Were a Formula 1 Team, Which One Would They Be? Squadron: Alpha F1 Counterpart: Scuderia Ferrari One of the oldest teams on the grid, Ferrari was the team to beat in the '00s. However, they've struggled to find form in the last few years, having gone 10 seasons without a championship. Nevertheless, this team is always a threat to steal victory. Squadron: Delta F1 Counterpart: McLaren A stalwart of the sport, McLaren has struggled the last three seasons with an unreliable and underpowered engine. However, the team's veteran ace continues to be a bright spot, fighting for points and finding success against all odds. Squadron: Epsilon F1 Counterpart: Force India This one's easy; they're both pink! Squadron: Kappa F1 Counterpart: Red Bull Racing Red Bull is a relatively new constructor, but they've managed to win four world championships competing against storied franchises like Ferrari and McLaren. Their position as the upstarts ready to grab victory whenever the lead teams falter is bolstered by their memorable catchphrase. Plus, you know, energy drinks. Squadron: Sin F1 Counterpart: Williams Once one of the greatest teams on the grid, Williams have recently fallen on hard times. However, a change in leadership (and an all-new look) promises to bring this championship-winning squad back to the forefront. Squadron: Theta F1 Counterpart: Mercedes Since returning to the sport, Mercedes has been a force of domination, winning the last four titles while facing little competition. The roster mixes youth and experience, but fans wonder how long the domination can continue. Well, there you have it. I hope I wasn't too controversial in my analogies. Here's hoping Vettel or Alonso can win in Mexico! |

I managed to squeak a single TIE Fighter mission in for TIE Corps on Patrol this week, which reminds me... I'd like to formally recognize LC Earnim Branet for his continued efforts in TCoP. Each week, LC Branet flies at least two of the selected missions and managed to beat his CMDR in this week's TIE Fighter mission. Of course TCoP-related kudos are likewise due to LCM Rando who continues to dominate the competition like Lewis Hamilton. (Too many F1 references this week?) I've had another response regarding Sin Squadron competition ideas for 2018 (Thank you, MAJ Wondra!). Once more, here are some of the comp ideas that I've come up with:
