Wing One Report #2

News

Well, it's been a week, and we're still here.

I've had some excellent responses to our competitions, so there's definately going to be some medals handed out at zero hour. Great start! My Commanders have been flying hard as well, which is very encouraging. MSN activity has also jumped substantially this week, which bodes well for the future. Congratulations to Major Talons Pryde on his return to the Alpha CMDR position. Make it count :P

Captain Gyssler was awarded an IS-BW for his superb effort in the Sov v ATF comp.

And last but not least, a warm welcome for Delta veteran Colin Graves, who joins us from the reserves :-)

My Activity

- Appointed one new CMDR
- Chasing us down a new website location.
- BSF'ed another bunch of CMDR files (14 FCHG) Nice!
- Played 5 games in the Communications Initiative Competition
- Flew for the Torus Trooper Competition
- Established contact with three new cadets

- Flew for the Sov v ATF comp
- Awarded IS-BW for flying in the Sov v ATF comp (There is a subtle link between the two events here :P)

- Much prodding of pilots.
- Relentlessly Bugging the SovCOM, CMDR's and Reservists over Instant Messaging

TIE Corps News

The new Emperor's Hammer game Imperial Alliance needs voice actors! Got a voice? Be immortalised in our newest flying platform. Check here for more details. http://mb.emperorshammer.net/viewtopic.php?t=983

The remaining items are not directly pertinent to us but include:

- A Command shuffle in some ship positions,
- The appointing of a new TO
- A flaw in the LoC submission system
- and the ISD Grey Wolf remains Flagship of the ASF following their victory in the Supremacy Competition

Competitions

Sov v ATF

We drew. A few more battles flown by our boys would have clinched it. Unfortunate, but we'll get them on the rematch. It's worth noting that the two Wing I pilots that flew (CPT Gyssler and myself) both received medals. It could have been you
:-P

Let's show 'em how in the next one.

Wing One Communications Inititative

End Date: 7th March
Missions/Battles: None. MSN Messenger Required.
Medals: IS-SR to highest number of *players* played, IS-BR to highest number of wins.
Huh?: In an attempt to get the Wing talking to each other during rec time - the Wing Commander has augmented some of the communications terminals with... suspicious software, which allows pilots (among other things) to challenge each other to a variety of games. Pilots are required to email screenshots of their victories over their comrades to the WC, being sure to cc the other 'combatant'. All MSN games are eligible for submission.

Why?: If we get everyone on MSN, we have a nifty new way to get pilots from different squadrons in contact with each other. I will create a directory with a list of players you can challenge. Also, playing games against each other using this software isn't all that tricky, and doesn't require uber net connections, giving everyone the chance to mix it up with their wingmates.

Participatants: Brin Chaser, Valdimore Cozar, Trooper Xarn, Serin Jansj

Wing One Torus Simulator

End Date: March 7th
Missions/Battles: 'Torus Trooper' Game found here http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~cs8k-cyu/windows/tt0_22.zip (6mb download)
Medals: Iron Star Silver Wings to highest score, Iron Star Bronze Wings to 2nd place
Huh?: As one of his first Wing Initiatives, the new WC has installed a Torus Trooper simulator in the Wing I Cantina to assess(and improve) pilot reaction times. Pilots need to send a screenshot of their highscore to the WC to be considered for reward, as the data can be used to evaluate pilot strengths and weaknesses.

Why?: I've heard talk that people are getting tired of flying the same platforms day in and day out. Thusly, we mix things up a little :-P

Participants: Brin Chaser, Gyssler, Rez Chaser, Valdimore Cozar

Promotions and Medals

CPT Gyssler - Iron Star Bronze Wings

Reason: 3rd place in TIE SP part of "SSSD Sovereign vs. ATF Battlegroup" competition.

Good work !

Reccommended by Admiral TK-2107

MAJ Brin Chaser - Iron Star Bronze Wings

Reason: 3rd place in XvT SP part of "SSSD Sovereign vs. ATF Battlegroup" competition.

Good work !

Reccommended by Admiral TK-2107

MAJ Talons Pryde - Promoted to Alpha CMDR

Reason: Talons is to be the anchor of my CMDR group, providing a substantial deal of Command Experience and knowledge to my talented, but developing group.

Talons has served as Alpha Commander in the past and served with distinction. He has passed both the SM/2 and SM/3 courses with solid marks.

I trust him with returning the Fleet's first Squadron to it's former glory.

Summary

I like our level of messageboard activity, Firzam, Kahooli, Jansj - well done :-) Go here and make yourself heard. http://mb.emperorshammer.net/viewforum.php?f=34

I have to say I'm also very pleased with the level of competition participation thus far. However, it's limited to the same faces we normally see. Considering I've approved two competitions unrelated to the flight platforms, boredom with the sims is no excuse.

Playing online pool is not a traumatic experience.
Get MSN Messenger here: http://messenger.msn.com

Boosting your reflexes with a funky vector graphics based racing game (with guns) is not something you do every day in this organisation. I'll be using the level of participation in these comps as a measure of whether such competitions are worth the effort of me buzzing around the 'net finding you cool things to do.

So if you want to avoid the constant TIE grind, take part.

Yours in Service,

WC/MAJ Brin Chaser/Wing I/SSSD Sovereign
