From one of the drinks consoles in the Vanguard's Officer's Mess, I hereby present you the Wing XV report. :)

1.

Some of you may have already heard about this or expected it after last month's competition between the Vanguard and the Gray Wolf... but Two Full Weeks of 24 Hour a Day Melee Fighting have starting as of friday: the ASF Vengeance Competition October ! All three ships will encourage as many of their pilots as they can to participate in the October XWA and XvT WoWs. At the conclusion of both the WoWs, the ship that has the highest overall pilot score would be the winner. And will gain the right to modify the title and motto of the losing ship/wing. Besides this there will be medals for pilots and WC's Own's to be rewarded to Squadrons again of course. some matches were already flown, I even bought a new video card so I can fly in the XWA, finally. (this then messed up XvT and thus my flying schedule for this weekend.... sigh... always something, ey?;) )

Secondly Vice Admiral Blade and me have been working on a comp via this wing report involving fiction and mission flying based on that fiction and on to an interactive story including our own newspaper cuttings etc... Current name is the '"Vanguard Interactive Battle". For this we would still need XWA Mission Designers and Testers and perhaps graphics artists to add to the experience. If you feel you want to participate in setting this up, mail me, CCíng VA Blade and your CMDR with your offer on what you'd like to do.

On the problem involving some of our squadrons nearing extinction by mass AWOL and the problematic reports there has been a lot of communication done - which cleared up some things, but not all. More AWOLs have occurred, though we did gain another 2 pilots, with another one coming in soon probably - but this still won't help our "endangered" squadrons. All pilots involved have been mailed on the subject and suggestions on what to do are welcome. This also goes for anything else: If you have any suggestions, ideas, criticisms, death threats or questions about me, the wing in general and the squadrons in it please send them to me (no need to cc the whole wing by the way;) ) so things will run optimally. If you have any problems, these can't be resolved without the parties involved knowing about them after all.

Fleet News:

General TC News:
- The Greenwich Wolf Comp and the Wednesday ASF Comp scheduled for October 25 and November 1 have been canceled in favor of the XvT and XWA WoWs taking place this week and next. These comps will resume as normal on November 8.
- The latest edition of the TC newsletter, Battle cry, has been released. Now at issue 8, it has all the great things you would expect from a newsletter... There are features on WEHR Radio, the squadron.org servers, the results to last months flying contest, lots and lots of submissions, and plenty more things on top of that! You can view and download the newsletter from the Battle cry web site at http://battlecry.ehnet.org
- You can now have your TIE Corps uniform on your personnel profile! Log in to Administration and click the Upload Uniform link. All uniforms are reviewed by me personally prior to posting, though it says OPS Office right now... after I'm confident that the system works, I'll be turning over reviewing authority to the OPS). This is to make sure that no inappropriate pictures are uploaded.
Uniforms must follow these guidelines:

• .gif, .jpg, or .png file
• No larger than 200 pixels in width
• 50KB max file size
• TC Uniform only, no other pictures accepted

- To my regret I must inform you that Commander Edwan Lipit has just decided to step down as the CMDR of Echo Squadron. Nothing is processed yet - this is the latest news.
- I just went around awarding overdue CoBs, so expect a present in your mailbox if you have flown a lot recently:)

Participants: The whole Aggressor Strike Fleet
Description: “All three ships will encourage as many of their pilots as they can to participate in the October XWA and XvT WoWs.
At the conclusion of the WoW, the ship that has the highest overall pilot score would be the winner. And will gain the right to modify the title and motto of the losing ship/wing. at the end of the XvT WoW the wing ranking in points within the EH will be determined. For first place a wing gets 1 point, 2 for second, 3 for third place. The same is then done after the XWA wow. Both scores are added to each other and the ship with the lowest amount of points is the overall winner.
For the top 3 _rated_ scoring pilots on any of the three ships in both games there will be medals to be gained. (10 games min to get a rating)” I'll make the top scoring squadron Wing's Own for November and VA Blade made last top scoring pilot COM's Protector - he might do that again."
CURRENT STATUS: the XvT wow has started! Go to the URL above to see specifics.  Remember that you fly for the club EH and not for the Vanguard. In wow’s you can't fly vs. other EH members – so don't start flying vs WingXIII or WingXIV members, they can be your wing men. Note: you need to be signed up with BSC and with the EH on there to participate.

Vanguard Pilot  and Squadron Ladder (ended)

Description: “For the Pilots Ladder, Pilots can melee each other in 1on1 and get a rating in the ladder. The Squadrons Ladder, Pilots can melee each other in 2on2, 3vs3 or 4vs4 and get a rating in the ladder – but your wing men can only be your squadron mates! Any melee that is flown according to the MP rules at any time/place between Vanguard pilots can be submitted to the bsc database. The top 3 pilots will be awarded medals according to overall participation.”
CURRENT STATUS: the Pilot Ladder ended with just a single game played (which I won by the way... does that make me the best pilot on the ship?;) ). Obviously not a success. If you have any ideas on why not or how it can be improved please contact me. Until then consider this experiment ended.

Vanguard Interactive Battle (new)

Description: “In short, I'll be adding a piece of a story to my wing reports, together with a XWA mission/skirmish file based on that part of the story. Pilots in the wing would then have to send in their pilot files of that mission together with their weekly report to their CMDRs - preferably with a short written _fictional_ account of their actions in the mission. The CMDRs check the pilot files, forward the scores and their own files to me and you and include the fiction in their weekly reports. The best fiction would then again be taken up in the wing report. Flying and fiction would both again influence the story. Medals would be awarded to the best flying and to the best writing.”
CURRENT STATUS: A lot further then last week... I got the rules down for example. Expect a related site to be up soon.
We still do need:
- XWA mission creators able to deliver a single mission a week together.
- XWA mission testers able to test the mission for major faults within a few days.
- Graphics artists to add some atmosphere to the story and news.

LC Kaye had a lot of e-mail server problems with my ISP this week; lost some messages and was unable to send outgoing mail for quite a while... The technical difficulties seemed to have ironed themselves out yesterday, though, and everything seems to be working all right now. As a result he didn't hear from many Raptors this week. (last week's report was sent but wrongly CC'd, np in the end:) )

"Greetings, Imperials, this is CMDR Thyne of the MC-90 Mongol Dream. We are
going to destroy you, with this awesome cruiser."

Ender thought for a moment, then made his decision. He pulled a Com Link from
a hub in the bridge, and switched to the hanger frequency.

"Python, take your squad and cover the others while they launch." Ender said.

"This is CMDR Rothmans, roger that Ender."

Rothmans went over the diagnostics in his Tie Advanced. "Python squadron,
report in."

"This is Tierce, four hot and in the green, lasers charged, missles on
stand-by"

"This is BoroKnight, four green, lasers charged, ready to vape those NR
wussies"

"This is Athy, I am good sir"

"Jourdain here, four green, lasers charging"
