• Welcome to another Hornet Weekly Squadron Report!  Yes, that makes two in a row!  However, don't expect one next week.  A week from today I will be taking my checkride (test) to become an instrument rated flight instructor.  I've been working almost a year on this, so it's a huge thing for me.  Wish me luck!

• Let me say that I am extremely pleased with the responses to the "activity policy" email I sent out last week.  I have heard from all but two of you, which is about what I expected.  What I didn't expect was that absolutely nobody folded and just opted to go to the Reserves.  Instead, you all pretty much pledged some form of increased activity over the very near future.  That was very encouraging.  Now let's see where we can go from here.

• To help us get back into the swing of things, I am going to be running a "Hornet Rehabilitation" competition in the very near future.  I don't have all the details worked out yet, but it will be extremely easy.  After that competition we will gradually step things up to what I would like to consider "normal."  When the competition is approved, I will send out an email, as well as post it on the website and the message board.

• Until then, don't forget about the current Vanguard Competitions.  There's the standard races, and also the "Capture the Flags" and "Hazination Time" competitions, which have been extended.  These last two are fairly quick and easy flying competitions.  If you don't remember who you're paired up with for "Capture the Flags," let me know and I'll tell you.

• We need Flight Leaders!  Both spots are open.  Those of you who pledged more activity, if you know for a fact you're going to start flying again at least on a semi-regular basis, I'd highly encourage you to apply for the position.  I consider semi-regular to mean a battle or a couple missions every week or two, but it's not a solid demand, since this is a game after all.  Basically I'm looking for leaders as much as I am looking for flyers.

• All the Minos sites (this includes the Hornet site and the main WSR page) as well as all the message boards were down over the weekend, and it was sounding like they would not be coming back.  However they are back as of right now so I'm not sure what's up.  I have backups of all the Hornet stuff on my computer so I will be able to relocate it if it comes to that.

• For interaction with your fellow pilots, don't forget about the message boards, the run-on, and Grimlock's Question of the Month.
