STRYKER'S STORY

    The YT-2000s Stryker's Pride, the Iron Mantis III, and uh, Jori Carcharoth's ship traveled through hyperspace enroute to the Corellia system.  After a short cruise through the system there would be one more jump and then they would be at the ISD Predator, their base of operations for their freelancing enterprises they had all recently undertaken.  As they emerged from hyperspace near Selonia, Jer noticed it first.
    "Pirates!!" Jer shouted over the radio.  In their normal fighters, pirates would be an easy match for either of them.  In freighters however, their only choice was to scatter and run.  Of the three, the pirate fighters targeted Airyu's Iron Mantis first.  Unfortunately for Airyu, his flight control system was an outdated model.  One pirate scored a lucky hit.
    "I'm hit!" cried Airyu.  "I'm losing power!  I'm going to attempt an emergency landing on Selonia!  You guys get out of here!"
    With Airyu going down in flames, the pirates turned their attention to Carcharoth.  He was a bit more lucky.  After some fancy flying, he was able to lose them in Selonia's atmosphere.  The lucky one, Jer got clean away.
    "Jori," said Jer over subspace, "check on Major Airyu.  I've lost contact with him.  I'm heading back to the Predator for help."
    "Roger that boss," replied Carcharoth.  "I've found his ship.  Looks to be fairly intact."
    "Good," said Jer.  "Keep him company.  I'll be back soon.  That pirate scum isn't going to get away with this."  Jer reached the other end of the system and made his final jump into the Bespin system.

    "This is the Stryker's Pride calling the Imperial Star Destroyer Predator.  I'm in need of assistance."
    "Understood, Stryker's Pride," replied the communications officer on the Predator.  "What sort of assistance do you need?"
    "We were attacked by pirates near Selonia.  We need a rescue ship and some fighter support.  Also, tell the hangar crews to preflight my Tie Advanced," said Jer.
    "This is Lieutanant Sanglante of Tiger Squadron on patrol.  I'll be more than happy to assist you, LC Stryker."
    "Wonderful," said Jer.  "Let me change ships and I'll meet you back out here."
    A few minutes later the Stryker's Vengeance and LT Sanglante's Tie Shadow were headed back to the Corellia system.  When they got there, Jer received a call on his radio.
    "Lieutenant Colonel Stryker, this is Commander Carcharoth.  Major Airyu is okay, but his ship is going to need some major repairs."
    "Roger that," said Jer.  "You wanna help us get these guys?  Your YT-2000 should be ok in a fight since there's three of us, and I'm sure you're itching to get some shots in."
    "You bet," said Carcharoth.  "I'm taking the Major on board with me to man the turrets.  We'll meet you in orbit."
    And so the two TIEs and the freighter started their hunt of the loathsome, cowardly pirates, checking all the major commerce areas in the system.  Finally, with the help of some other Emperor's Hammer traders who had come under attack by the same pirates that day, they were able to track them to the Kuat hyper buoy.
    This time, the pirates had no chance.  Jer loosed all 8 of his missiles on them, then circle-strafed around them, while Sanglante complemented that with some lancing attacks.  Not as maneuverable, Carcharoth and Airyu just pounded them with the quad laser turrets from Jori's ship.  It was over in less than a minute.
    "Yee-ha!" said Carcharoth.
    "Well done everyone," said Jer.  "Lieutenant Sanglante, thanks for the assistance.  We're heading back to Selonia for the Iron Mantis."
    "Anytime, fellas," and the Tie Shadow headed back for Bespin.
    "Revenge feels great, doesn't it guys?" said Jer.
    "You bet it does," said Carcharoth.
    "Too bad about your ship, Daisuke," said Jer, "but don't worry, we'll have it patched up in no time."
    "Yeah," said Airyu, "that's ok.  I just hope this never gets out.  I'd be so embarrassed.  The wing commander getting shot down.  Bloody pirates.  You guys have to promise never to tell a soul about this."
    "I promise," said Jer.

• Well, that was a long one.  It was a fairly accurate retelling of some stuff that happened today playing Free Worlds, with a couple of exaggerations to make it more interesting.  Hope you liked it.  All the characters in the story were played by real people in the game (except for the Van comm officer), even the pirates.  I tell you guys every week you need to at least try this game.  So far everyone I've showed it to has loved it.

• Me, Captain Stryker, and Commander Carcharoth are all going to be on leave this weekend for various reasons.  If you need anything, or have some Tie Corps related emergency, see the Wing Commander.

• Admiral Khadgar has resigned as our battlegroup commander for the ASF.  He will be sorely missed.  He did an excellent job, but felt it was time to pass on the torch.

• The run-on is starting to get a little dusty.  Someone post to it!

• I took the time to make and send each of you a new uniform to post to your Tie Corps profile this week.  Many of the uniforms on there are over a year out of date, and it makes us look sloppy.  So far none of the ones I sent out are showing on your profiles.  Perhaps they're pending approval?
