Airyu (lying in a chaise lounge): Hey folks! How's it goin? I'm gonna mix things up a little this week. It seems that we're all basically out to lunch, so I'm broadcasting from the surface of Garret 7. Yutzka's off visiting his family on Eriadu, and Ginji's out taking a break too. I've sent a probe droid after Ginji, to keep up on how he's doing. *click*
Ginji: Doot doot doo *jumps into the water and starts swimming*
Airyu: How exciting. I also have a probe droid of my own with me, but I've got a different plan for it *puts on a helmet and takes out a military-grade grappling pistol*

Meanwhile, in orbit around the planet Garret 7...
Drax: Good afternoon, pilots. You've all been working really hard, and it's paid off. We're the biggest guy on the block now, and as such, the Fleet Commander himself has authorized some planetary leave on- what's that?
Justin: That blip on the radar? I don't know... it's too small to be anything but... a probe droid? On-screen.
The display screen crackles to life, displaying an odd sight... an Imperial probe droid, one of the Vanguard's own, attached to a tow cable.
Justin: Yep... it's a probe droid, but what's it carrying?
Droid: whirrrrrrr *turns suddenly to the left*
Drax: Justin... where exactly did Airyu say he was going on his planetary leave?
Justin: Something like... Garret...
Drax: HE'S ON GARRET 7... oh no. Why can't we just get rid of him on fridays!??!
Airyu: AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
The sudden movements of the probe droid are too much for MAJ Airyu's arms to take, and he loses his grip. Thankfully, instead of spinning off hopelessly into space, he slams into one of the windows. This window happens to be the one that Drax and Justin are standing near.
Airyu: *THUD*
Justin: Gyah!! *loses his balance and falls into one of the crew pits on the bridge* That's it! I'm ending this friday tradition. *reaches for a button*
Airyu: Well... at least I'm still in one piece, and my helmet's intact...
A turbolaser turret swivels its barrels towards Airyu's position "on the bridge" of the Vanguard.
Airyu: ... Crap
Moral: When being towed behind a speedboat or probe droid, hold on for dear life.

Cool Stuff of the Week!!!

The faces in our squad have changed a little, and there's gonna be more shuffling. We've dealt MAJ Praetorian to Mantis in exchange for LT Death Squire from the reserves, a first-round draft pick, and cash considerations. Also, LC Thom Zack is expected to take the reins of the newly reopened Python Squadron. CM Wharfin deGrooz has been placed on the chopping block, and my two cadets on the Daedalus should be with us by two weeks from now. Great!
I've been teaching a marching band all week, and haven't had time to do a lot of graphics editing, but I do have a nice little video clip of the band. Apparently, everyone wants to be a General these days. It takes more than being old and having a serious liver problem. You have to have yelled at people while being old and severely inebriated, too :) This is why old farts like Shups, Dax Corrin, Darklord, and Compton get to be Generals, and lesser badasses like Wet Willy are still only Colonels at heart. :P

TOP DOG IS ON - We're holding onto our lead in the competition, but it's starting to slip a little. We need to step it up in the last week of the competition to keep the trophy on its way to us :) It really isn't hard at all to get some points, just go and fly or take IWATS courses, there's plenty of easy ones.

Our very own MAJ Praetorian has left us to take command. Take... luck! He's also receiving LC Zoron as his FL-3
PYTHON TO BE REOPENED
The Vanguard has reached 45 pilots! Yay! As a result, Drax and Justin are opening Python Squadron. LC Thom Zack is the CMDR-to-be, and will take his post this weekend, when the FL-3 position is filled.

XO COMPETITIONS - These have all been extended til the end of the month. There's probably another email for 'em somewhere... One of them is the "real story of the database crash", and the others are simple name-stuff comps, which could possibly give you an IS-PR!!! Platinum is shiny!
BGCOM's LEGATE - This is... something. Basically, do lots of stuff :) Congrats to O'Deevs for being the BGCOM's Tribune in the month of July
THE AGGRESSOR - Khadgar wants to do some thing... it's a publication of ASF-type stuff :) so make graphics and fiction that can eventually go in it.
VANGUARD IRONMAN - Just a standard monthly FCHG race. Whoever gains the most gets an IS-SW, runner-up gets an IS-BW

VANGUARD CCG EXPANSION PACK- Everyone saw what a wonderful job I do creating SW:CCG cards, but I'm all burned out! Now it's your turn. This is a wing-wide competition of my creation...
