STRYKER'S STORY
The Tie Avenger Stryker's Vengeance emerged from hyperspace about ten clicks from the ISD Vanguard.  Jer usually hypered in closer for a shorter commute, but today he was feeling good, and just wanted to cruise for a bit.  He had spent most of his time at his desk in the two months since returning to the Van, and had finally made it out to do a slew of combat exercises, from which he was now returning.  It was tranquil, the vastness of space, the steady whine of the twin ion engines, the Vanguard looming majestically ahead.  Ok, enough of this.  Jer dumped all power into the engines and put the throttle to the firewall.  At over 200 MGLT, Jer performed his standard, yet never-authorized high speed pass of the conning tower, then cut the engines for a manual landing.  The maintenance crews, bored with the lack of action lately, rushed to Stryker's Vengeance in the hopes of being able to repair some battle damage, only to find not a single scratch on her.  Jer gave his crew chief a thumbs up and headed up to the bridge to report in to Rear Admiral Remlinger.
    "Major Stryker," asked the admiral, "what is the status of your squadron?"
    "Well sir, it could be better.  noWedge is very sick.  Grimlock is still on leave.  Draiff is having problems with his ship.  Carcharoth is undergoing maintenance.  I have not heard from Lieutenants Weeks or Scorpio this week.  And of course, Colonel Sickman is passed out in the Tiger's Den."
    "I see," said Drax.  "You do realize that Countdown to Oblivion is tomorrow.  The entire Tie Corps is expected to be present at this engagement."
    "Yes sir," replied Jer, "I will definitely be there.  Captain Optimus may be able to fight as well.  I'm afraid that is the best I can do."
    "Very well," Drax sighed.  "We have a big day tomorrow.  Get some rest, so you can be sharp."
    "Yes, sir!" replied Jer as he turned on his heel and headed for the briefing room.

COMMANDER'S BRIEFING

• Well Hornet, just a couple of things to touch on this week.  First of all I'd like to apologize for the lack of a briefing last week.  Secondly, our two squadron competitions have ended.  Nobody got one Legion of Combat, let alone five, so that Iron Star will go unawarded.  However, someone did manage to squeeze in ten battles between May and June, so that Iron Star will be awarded to . . . me.  (I just couldn't stand to let the medal go to waste!)

• Countown to Oblivion will be taking place tomorrow in #EHCOC.  Click the link for details.  Most of you have already told me whether or not you plan on attending.

• June was a very slow month for us.  Summer months tend to be that way.  Nevertheless, I would like it if each of you would attempt to take your activity one step further this month than you did last.  If you flew one battle last month, fly two.  If you just said "hi" to me once or twice, try to fly a battle, play a little multiplayer, or do an IWATS.  If you didn't contact me at all, then getting in touch with me is all that I ask of you this month.

• One other thing.  I will be on leave from this coming Sunday until the following one.  Lieutenant Commander Carcharoth will be acting commander of the squadron during that time.  However, if you have any battles to submit next week, send them to the Commodore.  There will (probably) be no briefing next week.  That is all pilots.  Dismissed!
