Hey everyone! Time for another Athena Squadron Report. It might be
somewhat short, as it's a little late a night and I'd much rather be
celebrating my long overdue victory at XWA-TC #37. So let's do it!

SQUADRON NEWS

Heh, now that I've finally conquered XWA-TC #37 for the Sov Vs. ATF Comp, I
really need to devote time to the Athena Squadron website. I need some help
on it though. I'm lousy at graphics, so if any of you are good at 'em (and
I know at least a couple of you are :) ) and interested in helping out, I'd
be extremely grateful. Shoot me an e-mail if you'd like to help out.
Fiction is also welcome.

The position of Flight Leader for Three Flight is open. My requirements are:

Pass IWATS SM/2 or SM/3 with 80% or better
No major HCI convictions within the last year
Keep in contact with your FMs and me

Anyone interested, feel free to e-mail me.

A quick note on skipping missions: don't do it. The pilot file will not be
accepted. If you run into a point in a battle you find you can't complete,
feel free to ask for advice. I have XWA and TIE95 so I can attempt any
battle using those platforms.

There is an AWOL check in progress, all pilots please drop me a line if you
haven't already done so.

WING NEWS

There is a competition currently running between the Sov and the Avenger
Task Force. It features multiplayer (XWA and FW), fiction, graphics and
singleplayer portions. The single player battles to be flown are TIE-TC

220, XvT-TC #103 and XWA-TC #37. For more information on the comp, go to

Also, the Holiday Fun Comp is still running until the 31st of January! Here
are details for Wing Report #13:

It’s called ‘Holiday Fun’! It is a multipart comp that involves flying,
writing, and graphics!

For the flying portion, you need to fly at least one of the following
battles: TIE-TC 193; XvT-TC 81; and/or XWA-TC 26! 1st and 2nd place winners
get Silver Wings and Bronze Wings, respectively.

For the fiction portion, it is a comp about any of the holidays currently
going on. Hanukah, Christmas, and/or New Year’s and anything else you can
think of, but it must be this holiday related and if it’s not one of the
above 3, I’d like to know what this holiday means and is for. Also, it must
include the wing and our activities during these times. It could be a
battle, a dinner, pretty much anything as long as it includes the wing and
has a feel of the holidays.

For the graphics portion, you can create a picture that shows what the wing
did/does during holidays! It should be clean but sending one that is
naughty is okay, it just won’t be sent out to the wing for viewing. :P

FCHG points won't be awarded until the comps' end on January 31st.

New XWA Battle Released!

The XWA battle for the Casino Imperiale comp has been released! It is
designated XWA TC 39! Proceed to fly it if you haven't already and send your
pilot files to your superiors to get BSFed.

I'd like to clarify that for these Casino comp battles you won't get your
FCHG points or BSF notice until the competition ends, so on February 1st,
expect them on your combat records.

is probably the best part of this organization.

Write fiction/create graphics! Fiction and graphics are great, fiction with
graphics is even better!

Take IWATS Courses! They look good on your ID Line and you learn stuff.

MISCELLANEOUS

Well, January is rapidly drawing to a close. Yay! That means that KOTOR II
will be coming to the PC soon! I probably won't buy it right away, but
after it comes down in price I think I'll definitely have to. The sound
quality on my XP machine is much better than the old SoundBlater Live! I've
got in my Gateway that I've plugged my X-Box into through the TV card.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Republic Commando should be out soon for the
X-Box and, hopefully, the PC. I'm still fairly lousy at aiming with right
thumbstick on the X-Box controller, so if my XP machine's up to it, I'll
probably buy it for the PC first.

I've been playing Far Cry on the PC off and on for a week now and am very
impressed. Yeah, it's been out a while, but when I first started playing
it, I did horribly at it. Now, I'm either more patient or my improved
eyesight is actually helping some. Heh, probably a combination of the two.

Been watching the new Battlestar Galactica series on the Sci-Fi channel on
cable here. I'm enjoying it, but the original series was a bit before my
time. I will say this, Edward James Olmos looks pretty rough. Of course,
really the only time I've ever seen him was in Blade Runner and that movie's
twenty some odd years old. Anyway, if anyone has extensively watched the
old Battlestar Galactica series and the new one, drop me a line. I'd be
interested to hear your opinions. I do know that Starbuck was a guy in the
old series and is a chick in this one. Other than that, I know squat.
