Report originally written 04/24/2004.

Ta Squadron Report for April 17th through April 24th, 2004.

Hey everyone! Time for another Ta Squadron Report! Not a whole lot of news this week but let's do it!

SQUADRON NEWS

Well, some bad news first. MAJ David and CPT Dan Jenkins have requested transfers to the Reserves. I'm sorry to see you guys go, but I wish you luck in your future endeavors. Hope to see you return to duty at some time in the future.

With Dan's departure, we're in need of a Flight Leader for Three Flight. I'd like to get this position filled as soon as possible. My requirements are:

Pass SM/2/3 with 85% or better
No major HCI convictions in the past 12 months
E-mail response of 24 hrs or less

If anyone is interested, send me an application!

Be on the look out for an internal squadron competition soon. I've been busy this past week, but I'll see what I can do about getting one going later tonight.

SSL Round 4 is on! Missions to be flown are: TIE-FREE #185, XWA-FREE #113, and XvT-FREE #138. Pilot files are due to me on April 30th.

WING NEWS

We're still awaiting word from the XO regarding squadron names. I've sent out my list to LC Guthwulf with what input I recieved from you guys. Hopefully we'll have our name soon!

A big welcome to LC Sequoh Marden and CM Var Zoraan to Kha Squadron and Wing VII! Seq and Var were long-time Beth Squadron members back in Wing III and Seq was a former WC of III. Great to be serving with you guys again! :)

Custom Uniforms
10:33 - VA Alex Foley [afoley@rawx.net]
I've talked about this a bit in my past two reports, but I'm going to take a moment to talk about it here so it gets out to the general public. From now on, creation of custom uniforms is going to be highly encouraged by the Operations Office. I, like many others, am sick of just seeing the cookie-cutter uniforms. I am going to allow more leeway with background colors, names in corners, and that kind of thing. Anything that adds class to a uniform design is fine with me. But, please beware. I am not going to approve crazy designs (Read: No Ewok Heads, Crazy Medals, or anything like that), so if you think something might be denied, make sure to e-mail me before putting all the work into designing a custom uniform.

CMDRs, I encourage you to run competitions among your squadrons for the best design of a custom uniform, for yourself or for individual squadron members. It's a great way to promote squadron activity.

ISD Grey Wolf COM Promoted to Vice Admiral.
02:03 - FA Cyric [jroscoe@comcast.net]
From VA Khadgar: Gilad has been an active force on the Grey Wolf ever since his appointment. He has been constantly active in reports, competition design and motivation. He has also been active in flying activities, Message Board activity and IRC activity. He has also notably been involved hands-on in recruitment, something of a rarity these days! Gilad does his best to make the Grey Wolf a better place for the pilots, and I think he succeeds! He is certainly a valued addition to the ASF staff, and it would give me great pleasure to see him honored with this rank for his service to the ASF! Congrats to VICE ADMIRAL Gilad!

XWA Patches updated.
07:47 - AD Ender mBind [mindb_ender@hotmail.com]
I've updated the MC-90, TIE Praetor, TIE Guardian, Sovereign, DGN, I-7 Howlrunner, TIE Dragon, TIE Vanguard, ESSD mk.I, ESSD mk.II, Astatine Tug and Phalanx Gunboat patches for XWA to current standards so they install more easily together with other patches.
I have also updated the Tritan Interceptor (for the Hammer to Anvil series) to fix the bug of it not moving in any direction but straight ahead.

All are adviced to only use the latest versions of patches. Many of these aim to fix bugs reported on XWA battles before.

SQUADRON ORDERS

FLY! Fly for SSL Round 4! I'll have an after action report for the XWA-FREE mission at some point. Be ready for an internal squadron competition too. I'll make it short and simple, I'm pretty busy at the moment.

Communicate! Keep sending me e-mails! :)

Take IWATS Courses! They look good on your ID Line and you learn stuff.

Have fun!

MISCELLANEOUS

Well, I beat Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow last Sunday night. That was mighty satisfying.

I've got a bunch of work to do before I can graduate from college with my Associate's Degree in Computer Programming on May 8th. I've got better than four people who will probably bury me if I don't make it this time. I love this time of year. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to start looking for a job. I'm planning on continuing my studies in Assistive Technology. It's taken me about two and half years to get my first certificate in that program. sigh I'm getting too old for this school stuff. I can't stay up and party with the 18 yr olds like I used to.

/me prepares to be hit with canes :P

Before I started writing this report, I spent probably about an hour cleaning out my inbox. There's been a lot of chatter over one of the e-mail lists I'm on. I tell ya, all the chatter was a distraction from the cute chicks on the singles ads Hotmail insists on presenting me... Now, why they're all in Florida, is beyond me. Show me a couple of cute Midwestern girls! There's gotta be a few... Heh, one of these days, I'm going to pay for saying that...

I think that covers everything for this week.

Thanks,

Colonel Josh Popelka
