STRYKER'S STORY
    Lieutenant Colonel Jer Stryker's YT-2400 approaced the main hangar of the ISD Vanguard.  Fresh from a two-week leave, he was full of energy and new ideas for his squadron.  Little did he know what was in store for him.
    As his shuttle touched down, the exit ramp opened, and Jer emerged to find all of the officers on the Van standing in full dress uniforms, saluting crisply.  At the bottom of the ramp were the Commodore, Rear Admiral Yellek, and the Wing Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Wolverine.  The Wing Commander spoke, "Lieutenant Colonel Stryker, for your continued service and dedication in command of Hornet Squadron, you are hereby promoted to the rank of full colonel.  Congratulations, Stryker.  You've earned it."
    Jer was moved to see the admiration in the eyes of his comrades.  "Speech!  Speech!  Speech!" they cheered.
    "Well," said Jer, "as many of you know, I attained the rank of general in both the Rebel Alliance, and the Imperial Navy under Palpatine after I defected.  When I joined the Emperor's Hammer three years ago, it was mainly just to get back into the cockpit of a Tie.  I never intended to get so wrapped up, never intended to really stay very long, and I certainly never expected to be able to command such a great squadron of Tie pilots.  I've made so many friends here.  Some have come and gone, while others have stuck around the entire time.  It is a great honor to acheive this rank, and I promise I'll be sticking around here for some time to come."
    "Alright, alright.  Enough smarm already," said Jer's brother Draiff.  "Let's go to the Tiger's Den.  Drinks are on Jer!"
   

SQUADRON COMMANDER'S BRIEFING

• Well, I'm back from my leave, and I'm pleased to see you're all here.  Now, onto business.

• It seems that during my leave, the rest of you decided to take some time off as well.  That's fine, but now I expect you to get back into things, especially Free Worlds, now that all of us (who have the mod) have our official EH tags.

• If you don't have an Argosy character in Free Worlds, I'd advise you to create one, even if you don't plan on using it much.  The more traders the fleet has, the more "uber" ships we're allowed to use.  As always, to get your Argosy tag, email Pri with the desired tag name and your freeworlds.com forum login.

• Now that all of us have Team Speak (I think), it's time to get registered on the official FW Team Speak server.  To do this, go to the freeworlds.com forums and send a private message to either Burnout or Admin Zaccar.  As always, let me know if you need help with this.

• Now that I am back from leave, I'm going to be working with Lieutenant Colonel Wolverine on creating some Free Worlds based competitions for the wing.  The hope is that getting the wing involved in FW will help activity like it did for Hornet.  As the "unofficial FW ambassadors" on the Vanguard, I'd like you guys to hang out in #wing_xv and offer assistance to anyone who asks.

• While I was on leave, the new message boards suffered a nuclear meltdown.  I got ours back up, but if you have not reregistered, you'll have to do so.

• The Medal of Communication is being awarded again, something that has not been done even as far back as I've been in the Tie Corps.  It is awarded for run-on competitions, trivia competitions, and solid (non-spam) message board and IRC presence.  Full details here.  You can expect to see our first run-on competition shortly.

• I made some changes on the Hornet site this week.  Check out the news page for details.
