COO REPORT
COO REPORT #5
FROM: COO/RA Hawkins
DATE SUBMITTED: 1st November2015
TALES FROM THE AGGRESSOR
CHANGING OF THE GUARD

Hawkins watched as COL Crsepe's shuttle as it jumped away to hyperspace, returning to the ISD Warrior. He'd watched that very same shuttle arrive not so long ago, bringing with it the final step in this changing of the guard.

The COO glanced over his shoulder at the once again mounting pile of datapads - each an acknowledgement of another victory for the TIE Corps. There was a special pile off to one side; one he would have to deal with himself. However, there was an equally large pile that he would be delighted to pass on to his new assistant.

Hawkins though back to his own arrival on the Aggressor as COOA. It seemed both an instant and an age ago. He had stood on the flight deck, a pile of datapads and printouts filled with procedural information precariously held in his arms, before making his way through the corridors of the VSDII to his new office. His old office, now. He smiled as he realised that a part of him missed the steady hum of the Ion Reactor, and the occasionally jolting vibrations of the engine core. His smile broardened as he realised he didn't mind being unable to stand up without bashing his head off some energy conduit.

At first, the unusal location of the COOA's office had been a mystery to him. It was almost as far from the bridge of the VSD as could be, and when he needed to report to the Admiral's office, had been a long and winding journey to reach it. Eventually, he had theorised that it was there for tradtion. It had always been there, and so there it would stay. The original choice was then simply a matter of remembering what The Empire had been like in the days before the Emperor's Hammer. Rank and hierarchy were of paramount importance, and impressing your rank upon others the norm. Ensuring that your most immiditate subordinate was sufficuently inconvinenced compared to yourself was a sure fire way to achieve this.

Hawkins wondered whether now was time to break tradition. Should the new COOA have the office just down the corridor from his own? It was spaceous, had appropriate network security, and no engine noise. But then again, tradition was tradition. And after all, he thought, we wouldn't want an errant A-Wing crashing through the bridge levels and taking out the entire staff of the Office of the COO in one fell swoop, would we?

Big news this week! The end of my forst month as COO - my first completed COO competions, my first appointment granted! So Let's dive in!

A NEW COOA

I would like to begin by reiterating my thanks to MAJ Drachen, CM Lanil Jast, LCM Sparky and LT Silvius for your excellent applications to the post of COOA. I have personally commended you all to your squadron commanders and Wing Commanders. Each of you gave some excellent suggestions for developments to the Office of the COO, and made the final choice immensely difficult. I can honestly say that each of you at some point were looking like a front runner.

However, I am pleased to announce that, in the end, LT Silvius was the successful candidate. Despite his short time as a member of the TC, Silvius has impressed the entire admiralty with his high level of deication to the TC and truely excpetional level of Multiplayer Activity. Through LT Silvius, the Office of the COO can lead by example in Star Conflict. Besides - getting him to process many, many LoC and LoS submissions will be sweet revenge for the over 400 submissions LT Silvius has sent me in October alone. Congratulations LT, I look forward to working with you!

I must also make a final note of thanks to COL Crsepe for your work and support during your time as COO, and this last month as COOA. I wish you all the best in Kappa Squadron (HYPE! Sorry... old habits!).

NEW COMPETITIONS

In addition to the usual batch of Combat Events and Competitions, details of which can all be found below, there are two new and noteworthy competitions this month!

The first was suggested by our new COOA, LT Sivlius. The Star Conflict: Pyrrhic Victory is a chance to recognise those matches where you fly yourself ragged, achieve great things, but due to the vaguries of random team selection, still suffer a loss! So, in the spirit of the '300 Spartans', those losses can now be recognised for the piloting achievements they represent. This competition will recognise the highest Efficiency scored in a match that was otherwise a loss. This is an email entry competition, so email me at nedius@gmail.com with your submissions, So, remember to screenshot those losses, and submit your best!

The second competition is the beggining of the revamp of the Combat Center. Currently, the Combat Center banner looks like this:

Combat Center logo -- picture designed by Slade (resized)

And I think it's time for a renewal. So, the Combat Center Banner competition has been created! Your challenge is to design the Combat Center a new banner/headline image. This is a two month competition - so plenty of time to come up with and develop your ideas, and we can start the new year with a new image for the Combat Center! Once you've come up with your entry, please email me at nedius@gmail.com with your submissions, So, remember to screenshot those losses, and submit your best!

COO FICTION

One from me this time, to note the transfer of COOAs. I am still looking for more submissions, if anyone is looking to bulk out their MSE activity lists! GN Coranel Both has submitted a great fiction for next week, but after that I'll have to start bugging more people! Any budding fiction writer who would like to submit a story, please email me any fiction submissions you would like to write.

AVENGER SQUADRON

Not many new ideas thus far - so I'll put out a reminder of the ideas from last week. Please do discuss and get in touch! Will give these ideas a couple more weeks, but we have time as Avenger will change in the new year. Ideas are still in flux, so get yours in now!

One - The problem with the current Avenger Squadron is that it's based on the same criteria as MP Ace of the TIE Corps and MSE awards are also based on the same activity, so you can't award Iron Stars or Merit Medals for being in Avenger Squadron the way it is now. So, change it. Turn Avenger Squadron into a dueling society where pilots have to establish a 1v1 history against other TC pilots. The TC pilots with the top twelve dueling records are Avenger Squadron members, at risk of losing their spot if other pilots are more active duelers than they are. Records would have to be based on both win/loss ratio and overall matches played to make that work. The problem is that this would only really work for XvT and XWA and all of the MP issues with those platforms. You can duel in SC, but it might be weird (or might not?). Avenger Squadron members earn Iron Stars based on how long they've remained members of Avenger Squadron and their position within the squadron.

Two - Make Avenger Squadron membership based on XvT and XWA MP only. Avenger Squadron members earn Iron Stars based on how long they've remained members of Avenger Squadron and their position within the squadron. Different from the previous idea because win/loss ratio isn't a factor , it's not just 1v1, and MP PvE would also count.

Three - Turn Avenger Squadron into a recognition program for TCoR and COO competition/event participation. Some number of points for each week/month/competition participated in, more points for winning. At the end of the year, Avenger Squadron pilots would receive Iron Stars (or merit medals?) based their point totals.

Please, discuss these ideas by replying to this mail, and email me if you have any other ideas on how to move Avenger forward!

To Enter, you must submit a screenshot via email at nedius@gmail.com showing your highest Efficiency in a match that was a Defeat.

You may submit one screen for the competition. However, you may update that screen if you subsequently score a higher EFF. If there are three participants then IS-GW/SW/BW, if only two IS-SW/BW, etc.
