Welcome to the newest Kappa Squadron report. As you know, an old
Kappan returned to our ranks this week - Welcome back, LT Shimir
Sheerelk!
Shimir's activity was outstanding already in the first week, keep up
the good work! Just with those Mac-TFRs I'm still having some
problems, but I hope that can be sorted out soon.
Algy, it would be nice if you could tell me how you managed that, when
you are back from leave that is. :P


Squadron News
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

- LT Shimir Sheerelk returns to Kappa. :)

- The Wing Commanders (read Wing ... *pause* ... Commanders) are
taking on the Rat pack (the Wing Commanders) in a 2 week
competition. This will run from the 16th march till the 31st.
Well, that piece of news actually doesn't affect you directly, but
you could keep your fingers crossed for me (and the other CMDRs) :P
Which doesn't mean that you guys couldn't fly something, too, before
the Sov Pilots League and the W2PL start.

- Stele shocked me a lil when stating that our squadron site wouldn't
meet the new regulations... as it turned out later, he was looking
at the wrong page. :P
However, when searching for flaws on our page, it was brought to my
attention that it doesn't work with resolutions lower than 1024*768.
There are many sites that don't look good on lower resolutions, but
with the Kappa site the problem is that it doesn't only look worse
on 800*600, but it also restricts the functionality as the lower
part of the menu bar is cut off, and it has no scroll bars.
Would be good if that could be fixed Algy, not everyone is using
such high resolutions (yet).
That false alarm also made me play around with SquadFirst (just to
have a backup plan), and I must say it's really quite handy,
especially in updating stuff. Well, the competition system sucks,
but all in all the ex-IOA Alex Foley really did do a great job on
that. Bravo.
/me just wonders why Minos is down *again*. is it the impact of all
those SquadFirst sites? :P

Train for the upcoming Pilot Leagues (Wing II and Sov).

- Continue your efforts to contact cadets on the Daedalus to fill up
Kappa's roster. Shimir did a great job on this last week, superb!

- As Shimir asked to supply him with background stories about
ourselves for his fiction he's planning to write, please do so - in
case you have a background, that is. :P

received yet.
Completed 3 missions of TIE-TC 202 that can't be processed
because the battle wasn't completed...sorry. I hope this
won't happen again in the future with the Mac bugfixes
(thanks to Jon and Inky for the assistance).
03-06-03 Completed IWATS Linux course with 93%
03-07-03 Completed IWATS ICQ course with 97%

Very good initiative Shimir, but be careful not to become even more

- Sov Wargame Progress (VA Pel)
Two battles have now been fought in Operation: Outrageous Fortune
(The Sovereign Wargme). Both battles have seen Blue Team (Wings
I/IV/V) lose heavily, but not without cost. Red Team (Wings
II/III/Omea Squadron) have lost about 6 squadrons of their Gunboats,
compared to Blue's losses of 2 Task Fleets. Both teams would be in
far worse shape were it not for the efforts of their Single Player
TIE and XvT pilots. Future battles will be announced here, so if you
can participate, help your team out.

- Best Squadron In The Fleet? (HA Priyum Patel)
Have you ever wanted your Squadron to compete with the best
Squadrons in the fleet? Have you ever thought about all the glory,
fame and honours your unit can earn by winning a fleet-wide
competition? The event of perhaps your entire TIE Corps career is
coming! SSSD Sovereign League 2003! More details very soon!

- RelCOM Resigns (HA Priyum Patel)
Unfortunately Rear Admiral Autoris has resigned as Relentless
Commodore and moved to the reserves due to RL military commitments.
We wish him a safe and speedy return to the TIE Corps. Do NOT apply
for the position unless asked to.

- Wing XIII WC (HA Priyum Patel)
The position of Wing Commander of Wing XIII (XvT MP) is now open to
applications. Applicants should consider the following criteria when
applying:

a.. Proven experience as Squadron Commander or higher in the TIE
Corps for no less than 4 consecutive months.
b.. Familiarity with TIE Corps procedures.
c.. Familiarity with X-Wing vs TIE Fighter in terms of Multiplayer
and Single Player.
d.. Able to handle any E-Mail requests promptly and write regular
reports.
e.. Able to work with Flag Officers, as well as members of the Wing.
f.. Additionally, applicants must also fulfill the position
requirements as listed in the Training Manual.

You are also encouraged to note any special skills that may help in
the position, such as web design ability. All applications should be
addressed to Rear Admiral Khadgar and Vice Admiral Darksaber. Good
luck to those of you who apply.

- March Madness - Results (HA Priyum Patel)
The final results for Saturday's ATF vs ASF Competition are in and
have been confirmed...

So many congratulations to the victorious ASF. There were a total of

- Grey Wolf Commodore Resigns (HA Priyum Patel)
Due to RL Military commitments, Vice Admiral Sarin has had to resign
from his position as Grey Wolf COM and transfer to the Reserves. I'd
like to wish him a safe and speedy return, and thank him for his
past work.

As was announced at last night's TC Meeting, a new COM has already
been selected...many congratulations go out to Rear Admiral Khadgar
who returns once more to the position!

- VanCOM Promoted (HA Priyum Patel)
Congratulations go out to the Vanguard COM, Rear Admiral SickMan,
who today is promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral in recognition of
his work for the ship.
